'The Tester' reality series debuts on PSN Feb. 18

Sony's PlayStation Network-exclusive reality series "The Tester" will begin February 18th. The competition will have the above real gamers vying for a chance to win a glamorous testing job at PlayStation. Until April 8th, the PlayStation Store (for PSP and PS3) will update every Thursday with new -- and free -- episodes of the series.

Should "The Tester" successfully sidestep traditional employee recruitment and take off, don't be surprised if Sony announces "Who Wants to be Our Janitor?" next season.

Actually, they are real gamers... Ciji's been on other shows, and i've seen her in game comps.

I could test for Nintendo any time I want - but I'm reticent to do so because testing is a brutal, brutal job.

It would have been more interesting had they locked them all in that room, weapons fall from the ceiling and they just have to Battle Royale it to see who wins......

It really does seem as though every person there seems to be some token stereotype, some of whom directly from The Breakfast Club.

Cyrus - Suburban white guy. Athletic. aka Andrew.
Roni - Hip black girl. Probably always wears a beret.
Star - Eccentric white girl. Does weird shit, but deep down just wants to have friends. aka Allison.
Luge - The girl next door. Sweet, kind, very Lana Lang.
Doc - Big Hawaiian or Latin guy. Always happy.
Amped - The popular white girl. aka Claire.
Big D - Big black guy. Probably likes to start fires.
Nauseus - pretends to be a badass gangster. Key word: pretends.
Barmy - Uptight, overconfident, thinks he knows everything white guy.
Goof - Over-Americanized Asian guy.
Fame Girl - Large-and-in-charge black girl. Mostly cheerful, but don't get in her way.

Wasn't "Star" on WCG Ultimate Gamer? If I remember correctly she was a huge drama queen and a total psycho chick.

Yeah, her name on that was "Ciji" or whatever. I think the winner of that show was also to become a game tester, or compete in competitions or something. I guess she lost. But is it fair that she gets to be in a show like this again, or are these people the only ones that would want to be on the show? Either way, it amazes me that these people think being a game tester would be an awesome job. It would be awesome if it paid well and didn't make you play all the shit games along with the good ones. Until then, yeah it's a shit job.

i think its ok. i mean i rather they do something like this than the other movie projects they had. they were very boring.
and its free, so yea i will download some episodes. i think its a good idea to have PSN-tv shows, next series might even be better.

..and Luge wins in a landslide. She's the only marginally attractive one, so the 98% male vote will be going with her as long as she doesn't say in the opening that her favorite game is Halo.

Is this the Playstation brand trying to be "edgy", "groundbreaking", and "unique"? There are three things guaranteed in life Death, taxes, and Sony trying too hard.

If The Goof doesn't pause after every antic to turn to the camera and say "looks like this is a Goofy Situation" I'm not watching.

Does anyone else notice the irony of the Producer of Playstation Home calling someone the "Worst performer by a mile"?
