It's a little early for us to be thinking about all that, what with the game still a week from hitting shelves. But it's nice to know that if we do have to go to hell, we'll have some company by April.
Dante's Inferno Trials of St. Lucia DLC confirmed

We hate to ruin the surprise for you, but when you tear into your copy of Dante's Inferno you'll also be getting a sneak peek at what's next for the game. A packed-in trailer reveals the Trials of St. Lucia DLC with its player-created trials, online co-op in said trials and and a new playable character, the titular (pun-intended) St. Lucia. A Kotaku reader grabbed a shaky-cam version of the promo, which you can see right after the break.

Would it be inappropriate to say that Kotaku got this first?
Yeah, probably.

Actually, I wasn't trolling.
Making a joke on the whole "Kotaku got it first," that can tend to happen.
Or maybe that's too "old" or isolated.

Why would they include a trailer for DLC later when they could just include it in the final product? Unless it's free, but still. Seems like just another way to annoy people and stir up the "release a finished product" debate that always happens (all points raised on the Kotaku post).
Sooner or later most people will just wait for the GOTY edition which includes all the extras, add ons and other fun things that will be included later on.

I respectfully disagree with you. People will never wait for GOTY releases when they can get the game at launch. Nobody is going to wait 9-16 months to get a game while their friends play through it.
Now, it makes sense to wait for a GOTY release, but gamers in general are just too impatient.

Bahahahaha! Oh man I can't stop laughing. Dante's Inferno as game of the year? There's no way in hell (pun not intended) that will happen. And I'm not just saying that because I see DI as a shameless God of War ripoff either. There are so many other titles coming out this year that blow DI out of the water. If at the end of this year, a single game site declares Dante's Inferno GOTY then they should get the hell out of the business, because they don't know jack squat.

In hindsight, I realize that you weren't explicitly stating that Dante's Inferno would be GOTY, and just talking about GOTY edition games in general. Please excuse my previous outburst.

nice vast generalization there, bud. I'm doing pretty well waiting on the Dragon Age: Origins GOTY while playing ME2...

So a few things to everyone hating on this:
1. This is a single player action game first. Clearly online co-op, trials, and the new character weren't a priority to be included in this game. They wanted to get the game released without further delay and either felt that these features could wait, or needed more polish and shouldn't be allowed to hinder the game's release.
2. There's no mention of a price (yet).
3. I'm willing to be that even if it is free OR WAS included originally, you all would still be making the same remarks like "This is just a God of War ripoff" or "I thought this game was coming out March 16th?" So just get off it already.
I for one will be buying this AND GOW 3. Double the fun.

But it's not even DLC in the sense of levels that continue the story or side missions.
It's DLC with bonus tidbits added to the game. You don't have to have finished the game to delve in...
"Players will be able to create custom trials, testing their skills against waves of enemies, some exclusive to the St., Lucia DLC. Once their creations are complete, they'll be able to upload them to the Dante's Inferno community, where they'll be rated and ranked."
Alone or cooperatively and with a bonus character for the mode.
So again, it's just something else to do if say you wanna take a break from the story or play with a friend. What's so wrong with that?

"Easy" is a very relative term when it comes to software development/testing. I'm with Storm Eagle...if you don't want it, don't buy it (or the main game for that matter). I will also be enjoying this AND GoW3. :)

@Ben
I'm curious to how you know it could have "easily been put into the game".
First of all, there's just a trailer. The DLC isn't even slated to released until the end of April, if they stay on target. So clearly, they had a target release for the game and this extra content either wasn't as easy to implement as you say, or came up as sort of a "last minute" idea and couldn't be implemented in time for the game's release.
Now the flip side, is that they're using the trailer as incentive to sell the game and the DLC WILL come at a premium. But no one knows that yet. Therefore, no one's criticism of this content is anywhere CLOSE to valid.

For one thing, April is not immediately after release. The other thing is, I WANT MOAR. Come on, you can't tell me you've never beaten a game and said "Shit i want the sequel to be out RIGHT NOW"

Just because there is a trailer doesn't mean that the dlc is complete. So it's not like they can include it on the disc.. (im guessing)
If they waited for the dlc to be completed then the release date would conflict with GoW and less people would buy it =p

Something tells me that more people are going to by God of War than Dante's Inferno no matter WHAT the release date.
The fact remains that DI is a great alternative for those who don't own a PS3 and (I think) a lot of fun in it's own right.

yea, i guess you're right
I already pre ordered both of them ( the ultimate edition for GoW), but if they came out the same day then i probably wouldnt have bought DI until a couple months from now. I'm gonna use DI to get ready for the carnage in GoW >=D

It's actually not ready. They made a trailer. Plenty of games have trailers, that doesn't mean that they are ready.

I dont mind this being DLC as St. Lucy has nothing to do with Dante's book. Now, I know, neither does the game, but its still a valid point.
Also, I dont mind if they release a complete single player experience and keep working on the dlc after launch. That way I get to play earlier and dont have to pay for unfinished multiplayer tack on. I also have a choice not to pay for multiplayer at all.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable killing people as a highly sexualized Saint. I'm pretty sure that's up there on the Go to Hell meter
