What about the guy selling video games at the Citadel, who offers you Galaxy of Fantasy, or something like that. He hears that it has already 11 billion players. He mentions tons of other subtle game references too. Worth sitting around for a bit with him to listen to them all.

ytrere, they appear to know how to ban jackasses just fine don't they. As far as the code, I put ME1 in my PS3 and it refused to play it...even after I yelled that I know video games better than it and the code says to work. Weird eh...

With Dragon Age being successful on the PS3, and most reviews saying it looks and runs a little better than its 360 counterpart, I think eventually Mass Effect series will come there too. I'm guessing MS has some timed exclusive but who knows.

I picked it up for the PC for $39.99 anyway and its fun so far, can't say it lives up to the hype quite yet, but its very good.

Just finished it for the 2nd time. the 2 mass effect games are worth buying a 360 for, let alone all the other good games.

that or update your PC.

My PC is 4 years old and runs Mass Effect 2 completely maxed out at 1280x1024 (slightly higher rez than the 360 version). So I'm sure the game is equally good on both systems, but its not even like you need a PC *that* new for the game. Any new $50-75 video card will run it maxed.

You should feel bad since it is one of the best games ever made, and will most likely be GOTY.

At least get it for the PC if you hate Microsoft so much.

I haven't played for a few years but just got back into gaming and picked up Mass Effect 1 and I'm not really seeing what the big deal is.... To be quite honest it seems like your standard fare action RPG, and the action really isn't anything special...

What if he just doesn't have interest in heavily sci-fi space games? I honestly don't like Star Wars, Star Trek or anything of the like. That doesn't mean their not good games/movies/etc., just isn't for me. Only exception to that rule so far has been the Halo series, and that's because it isn't anywhere near as heavily sci-fi as the Mass Effect series.

So for me, personally, I agree with Blkant, as I don't have the least bit of interest in Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2. Again, that doesn't mean their bad games, just isn't for me.

Halo has laser guns and faster than light travel and weird aliens, same as Mass Effect. How is ME any more sci-fi than Halo? It's actually quite the opposite, since ME's science fiction is actually based in somewhat realistic science. ME's sci-fi is more science than fiction, compared to Halo's more fiction than science.

I used to always believe that as well David, but you do have to wonder how much better these devs can make games knowing that they can spend all their time optimizing them for one system. I don't think it's any coincidence that there are very few console exclusives in general, yet when you start looking at the best games list a huge percentage of them are console exclusives.

Would Naughty Dog have been able to make UC2 the technical marvel that it is (seriously, no load times with those graphics and cut scenes is incredible) if they had been splitting their time between consoles this whole time rather than focusing on just the PS3? And while ME2 has load times, the amazingly smooth framerate and complete lack of texture pop-in it has is remarkable given the graphics and complex environments they've created. Would they have been able to do that if they had spent half their dev time with another console, especially one that developers claim is so difficult to work on?

I dunno, I own both consoles so unless it's an online game I don't really care which console it comes out on, and it seems that focusing on one console tends to produce higher quality games in general. It sucks for people that only own one console but with games being so popular these days most people own more than one, and in many cases it's some stupid sense of loyalty to a brand that doesn't care about you holding people getting back from getting the other rather than a lack of money to do so.

why would anyone downvote this? last i checked, someone else playing mass effect 2 had no effect whatsoever on me playing it. if anything, that's more money for bioware to reinvest into making more great games (among them ME3).

One can only assume Bioware made a deal with MS which they deemed better for them than the potential sales net by releasing it for the PS3 (plus not having to port the code for the PS3). Why do you think exclusive titles exist? Fanboyism?

sure, exclusivity is good for the people who make consoles, but the benefits for the people who own them are markedly less. i own an xbox 360 and love ME2, why should i care if people get to play it on the PS3? more often than not it comes to down to immaturity and pride.

I don't understand the downvote either. He just wants to play the game on his ps3. He wasn't saying anything inflammatory.

Usually the two versions are made with completely different resources so it's not like it being spread around would make it any less of the game it is on 360 or pc.

It's just the same pathetic schadenfreude you always see with stories like this.

At the same time, I don't see why PS3ers are so concerned either. There are plenty of great games to get on the ps3 and frankly the ME games are better (and cheaper) on the PC anyway.

Amazing game. I was surprised it was still running on the Unreal 3 engine because it ran so well, and looked so much better than the first game.

If it does or doesn't come out on the PS3, it will still be an amazing game. Remember that, fanboys.

I was very surprised as to how much better it ran than ME1 on my PC, and yet looked so much better. It's sad that people who own a PS3 and not a 360 or good PC will not get to play either of the games in the Mass Effect (soon to be) trilogy, they're missing out.

Your avatar reminds me of what happened to my Xbox 360 20 hours into ME2. The only reason I want ME on the PS3 is because the reliability of the Xbox 360 hardware has still not improved. I hope the next revision fixes it. My PS3 has never died. My Xbox 360 has died 3 times already.
