So, yeah, Stargate fans. That whole Stargate: Worlds MMO you've been waiting for since forever? Well, at least you'll get to shoot things while you wait some more. Stargate: Resistance, the third-person online shooter that FireSky and Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment inexplicably dropped news on last month in lieu of anything to say about the game fans have actually been anticipating, is set to hit next week -- February 10 -- and can be pre-ordered for $19.95 from Direct2Drive.
Hey, it could be good -- or it could be a quick-and-dirty attempt to recoup the costs incurred developing an MMO that may never come out. (C'mon, we were all thinking it.)

Wait a minute. An MMO with no hype coming out in a week for 20 bucks? It's gonna be the shit!
Man, if I were Cryptic, I'd be crapping my pants right about now...

This isn't an MMO. It's a shooter.
I want it on Steam.
It's also the first StarGate game to be released. The first was cancelled years ago, and I doubt very seriously StarGate: Worlds will ever come out (not counting the first StarGate games based on the movie, that is.)

A quick review of the article reveals my folly: I thought that when the post mentioned the MMO Randy was talking about one.
Still, 20 bucks? No marketing? It's quality is severely questioned.

Not surprised. It's only been announced recently. And when I say recently I mean like this past December, I think. Joystiq hasn't really covered it till now, but it has gotten a lot of attention in the Stargate fan community. Websites like GateWorld.com post regular updates on the MMO game as well as SG: Resistance.

I like Stargate, have been following the MMO, and this is the first I've heard of this game.
The $20 price tag doesn't ensue much confidence either.

I read the logo as "resistanGe" and laughed at it. Then realized it wasn't a joke and don't know what to think

The trailer on the linked page doesn't look too terrible. It kind of looks like a TC mod for Unreal Tourney bumping it back to third person (the original UT, mind you).
...although the official trailer showing someone trying to bunny hop their way through the stargate event horizon and then bouncing back off of it (because it's just a set piece in a combat arena) doesn't really inspire me with confidence...
That said, I probably will buy this as a big Stargate SG-1 fan just for the chance to play with some of the toys and environments on the show.
