Mad Catz's Street Fighter IV Tournament FightSticks are currently priced to move at sonic boom speeds on Amazon at $99 for Xbox 360. Regularly priced at $150, there was a serious shortage of the peripheral last year, but now these baby Blankas are looking for a home.
For those with a little patience, the Super Street Fighter IV Tournament FightSticks are coming in April, but are priced at $150 like the original.

Dude, IT'S WORTH IT. I didn't think they were that great at first, but it is now an American standard as far as fighters are concerned. Shoot, even the Japanese pros are importing them.

I think the Joystiq community should chip in and buy me one of these. Make that two of them. Thanks in advance.

Oh god, yes. Very different and superior.
There is a reason this stick is typically over $100, and the "Tekken 6 Special Edition" sells for about $70 on Amazon.

I don't understand why you would spend $100 extra on something you're only gonna use on a couple of games. It's the reason I didn't buy DJ Hero

Also, is there really THAT big of a difference between the regular SF IV and the SSF IV sticks that it should be $50 more?

This controller WAS the same price as the SSFIV ones will be - these are the better of the two sticks released with SFIV branding. I have the other one; and while it's certainly better than using a normal controller, the whole thing feels kind of cheap. Low quality parts.
I played using one of these sticks and it felt a lot better - tighter, springier, more positive button clicks and a Joystiq that doesn't feel like it's going to snap off at any moment. I believe it's using HORI parts, if I'm not mistaken.
So if you're really into fighters, picking this beast up for a hundred bucks is actually a sweet deal.

People really love Street Fighter.
I mean, reeaaaaaaallly love Street Fighter.
That is the reason they spend $100 on a controller. I have a couple of friends who ONLY play Street Fighter.
I have never been able to get into Street Fighter 4. Mainly because I get my ass handed to me every time.

Some of us play fighting games enough to justify owning an arcade stick or even more than one. To wit I've got most fighting games that have been released on the Xbox 360... something in excess of a dozen of them, and there are some that I haven't picked up/have no interest in, I'd guess at this point there are close to 20 fighting games for the Xbox 360, which is more than enough justification for a specialized controller.
DJ Hero on the other hand, at this point at least there really is just a single game that can be played on it, so your comparison is invalid.

I use mine not only for fighting games, but for arcade games like Galaga and Pac-Man. MAME on my PC so I can play 3rd Strike, Rival Schools. I heart my stick.

@Jerk Face: These controllers use Sanwa buttons, the same that HORI's higher end sticks use.

My "baby Blanka" 6 button pad does just fine for me while I Thousand-Hand Slap noobs with E. Honda. If I even attempted to use one of these, I'd lose every time.
Plus, $100 for a controller? Nah. But thanks!

I'm curious - those of you who have purchased arcade controllers for any of the consoles, have you been happy with them? I'm not big into fighting games, but when I ran my local evil corporate video game retail outlet, most of the handful we sold were returned as defective. I'm sure a couple of those were people not understanding how to use it, or my former company making a mess of things as they are wont to do. But I was always intrigued to know if they were worth the investment.

I have a MAS stick that I modded to use with about 6 systems.
Built like a tank, and I love it. I personally think stick performance is about perception. I do fine with any SNES inspired controller. But I love the stick just for the sake of having fun and getting my "clicky" sound.
Also, I can punch the hell out of it without worries. You can't fling a controller and not have it shatter in 2000 pieces.

I absolutely love my Hori stick, I get compliments on it all the time. Many complaints you hear about joysticks is due to most of the modern ones having a square gate on the joystick. Most Americans are used to playing arcade games with a octagonal gate, so square gates feel extremely awkward at first. It is incredibly easy to mod a higher end joystick to have a octagonal gate if you feel that you cannot adjust to a square one, and only costs about $5 or so. Personally, I prefer a square gate as it's easier to feel where the corners are, but most of my friends prefer a octagonal gate. It's all a matter of personal preference.
Also, if you're used to American bat-top joysticks it may take some getting used to on a ball/cherry top stick as you hold it differently, but Japanese sticks are usually higher quality and require much, much less force to trigger.

Super tempting because I was seriously eyeing these last year, but I'd still have to buy 2 and that would violate my no-new-large-peripherals-this-generation rule.

That one is highly thought of, but I believe the Saturn stick was slightly better.

They keep pumping these out like rat babies so the supply will of course exceed demand. This is def. a more reasonable price, but I wouldn't get one unless it were around $50. It'll get there soon enough.

Off Topic: Amazon is restricting the amount of used copies they have for Mass Effect 2. Therefore, I can't sell my damn copy. I'm broke and unemployed.. I need to sell this game so I think I'll go through craigslist.. :/

One thing that should be known about these sticks is that if you buy the PS3 version, there's a chance it won't be compatible with your PC. They only work with Intel motherboard chipsets, so if you have a VIA, Nvidia, or any other chipset, it won't work. The Xbox 360 model doesn't have this issue since it has to follow standards set in place by MS.
If you're looking for a PS3 stick that'll work with your PC, I recommend the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3-SA. It uses the same exact Sanwa buttons and stick that the Madcatz stick uses, and is compatible with PS3 and any PC USB chipset. It's $119.99 on Amazin at the moment, but I managed to pick it up for ~$95 with next-day shipping back in December.
