Dear Europe,
Man, you guys don't even know it yet, but you just got access to something wonderful. Direct2Drive recently launched a European-focused branch of its digital distribution racket, which allows shoppers to purchase games using Euros, instead of America's bizarre, chartreuse currency.
If you've shied away from D2D's storefront due to its adoption of dollar bills, you've got no reason not to use it anymore. At the very least, give it a look-see whenever the store is doing one of its absolutely ridiculous fire sales. Oh, there's one right now! Red Faction: Guerrilla for 12,50€? You so crazy, Direct2Drive!

One reason I like D2D over Steam is when its download time, they just give you a big fat .exe to download. No worrying about Steam client, easy to back up to a disk, no fiddling with offline mode. I much prefer D2D's system to Steams, especially now that they have download protection now as well.

D2D has an insane amount of regional restrictions, so this is less about the money and more about the fact that some of their games might actually be accessible to some people.
I know impulse and steam have their fair share of region-locked games, but D2D is ridiculous. In their 5th year anniversary sale, where they had about 50 games on sale, approximately 5 were available in my region. That's a lot of lost cash...

This is actually a bad thing, considering that now purchasing from d2d will be even more expensive. At least before we could buy from the uk site which was occasionally cheaper then retail. Now, it's more expensive and has securom = = no incentive to buy from d2d. If this means that the uk site is now only accessible to uk customers, then I won't be buying from d2d anytime soon.

Just another way to further region restrictions through which Publishers milk the consumer.
There is absolutely no reason these games should not cost the same, and be available Worldwide upon release in the Digital marketplace.
It certainly is not costing the publisher more to make the game available to those in Europe or the Rest Of The World, so someone is pocketing the profit from the difference.
The fact that despite the public grumbling about this situation NO Publisher has stepped up to explain the pricing is evidence enough to me that they believe we won't like the answer.
