In all honesty I've never found the SC series very fun. I've always been a fan of MGS. My friend is the exact opposite. Is it common if you like one you probably don't like the other?

For me both are fun, I don't compare them though, for they are really different games, since Snake is a clone thing that's aged rapidly and fights against A.I. Mechs and has a Cyborg Ninja as an Ally, where as Sam Fisher is a bad ass ex-undercover agent who lost a daughter. Different drives for both of them, and both have two of the most bad-ass voice actors ever.

I like both franchises but for me Splinter Cell is on a high level where the fun is unmatched, How things unfolded in the story line and where he started and where he's at now.

I for one can't wait and I'll be at the door waiting for this to come out.

Yeah, the original and Pandora tomorrow had absolutely great 24-esque stories where you actually cared about all the hidden agendas and double crossing. Chaos Theory was a bit loopier but had even better gameplay so I didn't mind :D

It's funny, I've only ever played one of them for a little little bit, never really peaked my interest before, but this title I just can't seem to get enough information on. I just don't get it... I'm really excited that its coming.

I like both because I'm not an idiot that believes if you like one game you must not like another one.

I enjoyed the MGS games up until 4; then I realized you can run through most of the situations using absolutely no stealth and just reach the checkpoint in time to activate a cinematic. In SC, you'd never make it using those tactics, plus the whole SC series was better grounded in reality.

MGS4 was bad basically because it tried to be more like splinter cell

also they should have still delayed this an extra week, 4/20 smoke covert operatives every day

I agree with gamabunta. I never thought Splinter Cell was that good either. To me it was Mortal Kombat to MGS's Street Fighter. It supposedly was more H4RDC043 Because it was more realistic. Well that it may be, but it also controlled horrendously. I never got into any of those games, though I bought into the hype and bought a couple of them. I hope things are better this time. It's not on my radar now, with all these other games coming out, but if word of mouth is exceptional I'd be happy to eat my words.

I guess you just prefer different control schemes, cause I remember when I tried the original on Xbox (then later on PS2) I thought it was pretty fun. Even the PC controls are pretty average compared to most games.

If the controls were what bothered you then you should try the PC version. These days they are really easy to run, and you can probably find them pretty cheap on Steam or ebay.

If it's the general gameplay that put you off, then don't expect any major changes. It's got a rather nice formula and for the most part I'm hoping it sticks with it.

The controls of the game are very different from the original. It's much faster paced and allows players to approach an objective from various angles.

Want to be a shotgun killer? Sam's game. Prefer the stealthy approach? The grizzled soldier can do that too.

We've gone hands on with it - http://is.gd/7G2Ra

If it's more like chaos theory or pandora tomorrow and less like double agent it'll be a good and maybe great game. Double Agent was pure trash plain and simple. How long before the PS3 version is announced? TGS maybe?

The new gameplay mechanics and the extra work they put into this game (they rebuilt it from scratch at one point) to make it right have drawn my attention. Also, it's exclusive to 360 & PC which means more development time went into polishing the game. I haven't played SC since the very first one which was pretty good. The last-location cover system and interactive interrogations should make this stand out enough for a purchase.

I remember back in the day when they would announce release dates in trailers or online. BTW I never got around to playing SC, It's never been on the top of my head, probably won't start now.

Good, and I hope the PC version comes out the same day (no trickery about 360 version set in stone and PC needing polish or whatever). I'd love to play this on 360, but since my computer beats the dog crap out of a 360, I'll play it on there, thanks. Plus my 360 keeps getting itself red-ringed and I'm f***in' tired of that.

*prays for 360 controller support on the PC version, though*

If not you can always try a program like this to remap your 360's controller to standard keyboard buttons.

http://atzitznet.no-ip.org/Joy2Mouse3/

It might not be a perfect implementation, but assigning proper shift buttons and mimicking the 360 version's control scheme should make it almost exactly the same.

I myself use that program with my PS3 controller and it works flawlessly. I can control winamp with a controll one second, then control a browser or open a file with it the next.

My only problem (in such a small and unimportant thing that of course is not really a problem) is that it makes sense to go from smallest increment to largest.

It's sandblasted on their (this is the technical term, I swear). A square of sandpaper and a free afternoon will "erase" that date...

As far as the delays go, it just gives me more time to finish my backlog.

The Feb release date that got pushed back was on my birthday. I guess this means I actually have to socialize instead of holing up in front of the TV.

I'll like it either way if its good. I've liked all the Splinter Cell games except Double Agent. I've already said I'll get "another" 360 once they do a redesigned / slim type version. I'm guessing that'll happen when they launch Natal.
