While we're inclined to argue that most gamers' hands are in possession of a Wiimote and Nunchuk (at least that's what the numbers tell us), moving to the other consoles is a fairly understandable choice given the relatively low sales of HVS' previous Wiisclusive title. "We are extremely proud of the sales for The Conduit, with over 350,000 copies sold, numerous 'best-of 2009' nods, and over a million hours played according to the Nintendo Channel," noted CEO Kerry Ganofsky. From the interview, it appears that the studio's proprietary game engine ("Quantum 3") will also be heading to the other consoles. Does that mean a Conduit port to the 360 and PS3 is in the cards? Hopefully we'll find out when we next see HVS at the Game Developer's Conference this March. In the meantime, we've embedded a new trailer after the break.

Speaking exclusively with IGN, The Conduit developer High Voltage Studios has revealed its upcoming game The Grinder to be heading to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, as well as the Nintendo Wii. Previously announced as another of HVS' exclusive games for the Wii aimed at teh hardcorez, the game will now end up on every console, which "allows us [High Voltage] to show off what our company can really do and get it into the hands of the most gamers."

I think the Conduit was a solid title for the Wii. Was it the absolute best, perfect FPS out there? No. Could it drag on a bit in the single player game? Somewhat. However, Conduit allowed them to perfect their control scheme for FPS games. A control style, might I add, that has since been adopted since then by other companies (MW:Reflex has a large control adjustment set up, and so will Red Steele 2). They put a lot of work into Conduit, and I think that will show up in The Grinder. From the trailer, the graphics have already come a long way from the short demo showed off previously. The game looks to have atmosphere, which many derivative FPS games these days really seem to kind of lack. If they can make a good looking FPS, with Conduit-like controls, and a good story to back it up, along with the the split-screen/co-op mutliplayer they have been promising, I think the Grinder will be great on any system. I'm interested in seeing how far they've come with the Quantum 3 engine, as they said after Conduit they had already found things to do with the engine they didn't realize they could while making Conduit. Am I sad to see a Wii exclusive going to other platforms? Sure. But if it turns out to be a good game, then the more that can experience it the better.

I really saw the Conduit as their control/ online MP test. They seemed to have done a good job on both, so I wasn't as dissapointed with the game as some might've been. Then again I had herd of The Grinder before Conduit came out so I wound up buying Conduit to try out their control scheme and MP, along with support for their work so they can get a bit more money to work on the Grinder. Even though I've a PS3 I'll be picking it up on the Wii, and PC if the Wii version wows me.

No, there's no way that CoD4 Reflex was better than the Conduit. The Conduit had waaaaaay better graphics, unlike Reflex, where you would slide down square rope and hide behind what I guess was supposed to be grass, but really just looked like green pixels stacked up crookedly. Story wise, they were both pretty good I suppose, but the Conduit had something new that hasn't been done before, and I was genuinely interested in it. Unfortunately, there is more players online on Reflex, but that's just because that's the first thing rednecks see when they go into Walmart.

That's disappointing. If it truely doesn't come out until 2011 then I don't see how it can compete with the FPS' on PS360. If the Wii version has everything the other versions do, then I might consider it after it releases and price drops.

Yeah, it's sad isn't it? It's like HVS or Sega are admitting defeat.

@ Cap'n Walrus (In case the reply system fails out)
Just because a game looks prettier doesn't make it better. There's a lot of otherthings to go along with it. Example, which has a better Multiplayer system? Which has better overall gameplay? Which has a better story? Which one was more fun? Which had more replay value?
Obviously some of these are personal oppinions, well all can be (if you're too stubborn to admit the first one, atleast).
Yeah, it was new, and you have to give them credit for doing something new. But, they did serve a generic FPS with very little toback it up.

Well, the picture reminded me a bit of Bioshock. Real artsy looking.
However, the trailer..........the trailer was completely different. I'm not sure about this one, as even The Conduit didn't look that great but was super-hyped basically because it was THE ONLY FPS on the Wii at the time.
Oh, and on the subject of reporting and downvotes, I think the only person I ever constantly downvoted was Solace. Mainly because he had terrible negative opinions and posts. Paramore...HAH!

So, what's the incentive for people to get it on Wii? Wii-exclusive owners have showed their disinterest, and multiple-console owners will get it on the HD console.

As a mutliplay owner I'll be getting it on the Wii, unless they show outright they favored the others. In which, I'll get it for PC only.
This being that they're more then likely making it a Wii main, then porting it to 360 and PS3, my guess (as it started out as a Wii only game). So, there probabally wont be too much of an upgrade.

Wait wasn't this game supposed to be, like, L4DWii?
What exactly does that make it now?

L4D for all?
Hopefully it'll be better then L4D. I didn't really enjoy the L4D series, other then constantly making fun of it for obvious shit they didn't care about to just release the game. (Like the lights on the walls not being attatched, and such.) Until 2 came out. Even then the ammount of bugs/errors in 2 is annoying. Plus, they'll have to make it really good now due to the fact it can now be compared to L4D without the line of , "Well, it's L4D for the Wii! What did you expect?" Now people can say that L4D is better due to a fair judgment. Little did they expect to enter such a big field now, but they did.
Here's hoping they do a good job on the game, I've been waiting for it since before Conduit. Maybe if they do a really good job on the game we could get some new shit for L4D 1/2.

I never understood where the hype for The Conduit came from. If you just take one little glance over at High Voltage Studio's development track record, you'll see that it's mostly just shovelware, with one or two slightly notable titles. And how it got the few good reviews just baffles me, I played it for about an hour before getting literally pissed at it for being so bland, generic, and terribly designed. "Potential" does not equal quality.
You can probably guess that I don't care much for the prospect of another game by them. If that one can't pull in good critical reception either, then I'm betting people will stop giving them a free ride just because of a lack of competition.

You have to understand though that from a technical standpoint, it was thought that a FPS wasn't really even viable on the wii.
So what they've achieved is supposedly "awesome" from a wii-standpoint, although for those of us used to the 360 and ps3 experience, the Conduit seems mediocre at best.
it doesn't help that the game fell short of its ambitions, from what I've read of the post-mortem on the game (I have it for anybody who wants to pick up the PDF, just ping me).

I thought Sega had already admitted defeat for teen/MA on Wii. Then I see the article on joystiq about the gladiator game and I start to get excited that The Grinder will still come. Now, I don't know what to think. We all know Dead Rising Wii sucked compared to the 360 version. To me, the only way mult-plat Wii games have been able to succeed is when they are noticeably different like Ghostbusters. I don’t see how it is possible for The Grinder will be well received on all three consoles.

I got nothing to lose over it, I got both a PS3 and Wii; I can just get it for both, if I wanted too.

lol wow again, just like Tmac we got those people who will disregard anything as a game unless it has a green X on the box or blue-ray compatibility. whatever happened to games being fun and not just about a weird stereotype of high res graphics determining the playability of the game. quite honestly I'm happy to see another fps on the wii and here's why. First person shooters are almost always fun.. at age 13, playing halo for the first time you never think it could get any better. but then the wii comes out... it has some poor controls in the beginning and you sometimes get frustrated but you get over it and just play. the wii motion plus comes out and now the controls are doin more of what you want. next the conduit comes out and if your thinking straight and not just letting graphics or platform bias your judgment you realize... Hey... I could..... point at the screen..... and shoot.... point at the screen and shoot! now it doesn't take more then a second of thought to realize that. u play it and suddenly.... WOW fps just got a lil funner! I mean halo 3 is still leading in fps but in terms of game play was it more realistic or even easy to drag a reticule around with a control stick and hope that your on the target or to just point and shoot? would I be safer online having to change camera angle constantly to see whats behind you or just pushing a button to turn around or even batter, aiming away from the tv and watching the camera spin quickly around. pressing a button to melee.... or swinging at your target... lobbing a grenade with a trigger.... or using your own strength to determine where the grenade goes? hmmmm I'm gonna be stuck for days thinkin about this aren't I?
