A no-necked Chris Grant with a jew-fro and a shotgun in his hand sliding through a supermarket. I either creamed my jeans in ecstacy or peed my pants in fear. I'm too scared to check.

I just don't believe you guys, Everyone said Mass Effect 1 was awesome and I hated so by the first games merits I'm going to avoid ME2 regardless of who gushes on about it.

In other news, I'm going to stop eating steak, no matter how delicious it may be. I'm sorry to disappoint you all.

I loved the original mass effect, but it really really did have plenty of flaws. I really understand your caution, but really, they are completely different games. ME2 is almost like Gears of War if it had a story.

I gave Mass Effect 1 the good ol' college try and I had a hard time getting into it, so I understand. I might attempt it again but with such a better sequel that ALL my friends are playing right now, there isn't much motivation to do so...

you have to though Saria! It is so, soooo enriched by having played the first. Not only does it majorly impact the story and outcome of the universe, which you will definitely care about for ME3, but even small little decisions come back to bite you on the ass or pat you on the back

i'm playing ME 1 for the first time also and I just got sick of it. The beginning of the game was so good but I don't want to talk to people for hours until I finally find out what I have to do. The game is boring and not worth my time anymore especially when I complete a small chunk of gameplay die then end up having to replay it because the game didn't autosave when I thought it would. Not to mention the combat and armory is complete shit.

everything you said was a valid complaint except for one Solace. Really, you haven't learned how to save frequently for RPGs? And also, if you do decide to play it again, it really really picks up after you do two main quest planets

I don't know what else to say, if ME2 didn't basically require that I finish ME1 to fully enjoy it, then I'd be willing to give the sequel a try, but because the first game is such an integral part of the overall experience it makes it even harder to justify giving the series another chance.

Has the experience really changed so drastically that you think its completely different from the first? Is the only thing it shares in common with the first game is the story? If so how could they do that to fans of the game? I would think in a trilogy the gameplay should be somewhat consistent, if you do completely change the game your not going to get a new audience if the 2nd game is so dependent upon having completed the first game which you didn't like.

It's an odd thing to me, I just feel like Bioware should have got the 1st one right because for me it was completely boring, and it seems to me it would be a much less interesting experience to play the sequel without having experienced the story elements of the first.

Rambling...

Like every game, there are detractors. The original Mass Effect was amazing, but people focused too much on the negatives, and forgot about all the positives. Long load times are a problem because I wanted to spend more time in the universe. The gameplay wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. There was dice rolls behind the scenes sure, but I felt the game was much more tactical than the second one because on the harder difficulties it force you to use tech, and biotic powers to their full advantage. Saving took a couple of seconds so I don't get what the complaint there is. Plus there is quick-save on the PC version if you are going to whine about something as minuscule as that.

The detractors seem to be very angry and bitter people who don't seem to actually play video games for fun.

The story, characters, and dialogue are unmatched. The universe is well realized, and everything you want to know about the game is right there (i.e. the codex).

Zombieland was such an awesome movie. I was surprised at how good it was when I saw in the theater a while back. I really wasn't expecting much going, but I came out with a big smile on my face. Top that with the Bill Murry (Murray?) cameo and I thought it was one of the better movies of the 2009. Much better than Avatar if you'll permit me.

I found it a little depressing to hear you say you thought it was the best game ever, don't get me wrong it's good, but I thought it was a dumber version of the original with a learning towards Gears of War in it's combat, which I thought was a bad choice, I think people just have the same feeling they had with Uncharted 2 where they can't see path the glitter in their eyes yet, in a months the next one will come along.

If anything ME1 was the dumb one. They didn't cut down the dialogue, the plot or the character interaction, they cut down on the terrible, completely strategic combat. Sure, they cut out the inventory and some of the leveling up stuff. But certainly, the combat in ME1 was nowhere near as good as ME2. What's wrong with Gears of war combat? People god damn love Gears of War, it's a great game. What was smart about ME1's combat? Shooting enemies with High explosive rounds and making them flop around the ground while your teammates ran into enemy squads while you waited for your medi gel to recharge?

Justin, please don't try to change how you laugh. I like that you just let it go, it makes the jokes feel more genuine. The improv moments are my favorite parts of the podcast.

I like how you guys are putting Spoiled Rotten at the end of the show, but does this mean we will be getting less regular show now? I just spoiled Dragon Age for myself because I can't get enough podcast goodness.
