Diablo 3's female Monk designs revealed on The Jace Hall Show
In a recent segment on The Jace Hall Show, the typically secretive Blizzard dev team gave the towering host/television producer/Monolith founder a sneak peek at some of the concept art for the female iteration of Diablo 3's Monk class. While she doesn't embody what we normally imagine when we think of devout martial arts experts, she looks supremely badass. You can check out a few screengrabs from the clip on fan site BlizzPlanet, or simply watch the video posted after the jump (the segment starts at the 6:44 mark).

Reminds me a little of Monk design from Final Fantasy 11. It looks really good.

wow i remember FFXI looking so much better than that
Brian (PC gamer extraordinaire) @ Feb 7th 2010 12:29AM
you always remember older games looking better than they did, because when you played them they were most likely cutting edge.
Bobjohnson @ Feb 7th 2010 12:41AM
FFXI does look better than that, that's a horrible screen shot.
Sonos @ Feb 7th 2010 3:23AM
It isn't a screenshot it is the character models put on white backgrounds. usually for fan made comics n what nots. Thats what they look like I played the game for years. Just looks pixeled on white.
Regardless, I think the Diablo model is similar which is funny considering how wow and xi used to be somewhat tight competitors when wow first came out.

The bodypiece on the middle picture reminded me of shura togis:

What?!? why does her outfit look like the male counterpart, and not just a skimpy skirt, and a breastplate barely covering her boobs? Everyone knows real women fight in stripper clothes.
Ghoti @ Feb 7th 2010 12:31AM
I like this comment. Tom, your comment is liked.
mahouneko @ Feb 7th 2010 4:29AM
@Ghoti:
That's why his name is "Tom the Great". :D
Corey @ Feb 7th 2010 10:48AM
That is the exact first thing I thought.

I'm a female monk and I approve this message.
Husher @ Feb 6th 2010 10:59PM
Stan Lee is the man!
Then again who isn't fallowing Stan Lee on twitter come on?!
BruniBrun @ Feb 6th 2010 11:20PM
Pretty good design in my expert opinion.
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Feb 7th 2010 2:51AM
I don't think I get this show. Why did that woman eat a mouse?
Draimen @ Feb 7th 2010 2:47PM
Jace Hall is the executive producer of the TV series V, which is a remake of the original one from 1983. In 1983, that girl played an alien on the show, and said alien ate a mouse.
WiredKnight: Keeper of Threads @ Feb 7th 2010 3:33PM
Ah. Well. Thanks for that.
dood @ Feb 7th 2010 4:28AM
Nice look yea, but that video is draining man ... its funny then, it was like thats all there is on the female monk?! i sat through all that ... Its just like waiting for the game to come out, a little tease here a haha lol there we're great guys us devs, then nothing, just waiting, ggmfs ... GFGMFs ...
Sonos @ Feb 7th 2010 11:57AM
The entire video I was asking myself 'how did this guy meet up with Satan to get to meet some of the most awesome people in geekdom and then not talk with them?" I didn't get the show at all either it was really disjointed and what the word...AWFUL.
his jokes with Stan Lee completely fell flat. Just ask the f**ker about Dr. Strange.
stromm @ Feb 7th 2010 10:59AM
Sadly, they are WoWifying D3. It's like back when big hair was the thing, only now it's big armor.
RageOverdose @ Feb 7th 2010 11:35AM
Right, because when I completed the Sigon set, any character I used it on was puny.
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Feb 7th 2010 11:12AM
Cool design though a little heavy armor-wise for a monk. I liked the monk designs in Guild Wars, as well.
RageOverdose @ Feb 7th 2010 11:40AM
Doesn't seem too bad though. The only real armor there seems to be the arms. Although, really, they are making the armor designs fully reflect on the look of your character, as opposed to how in Diablo and D2, no matter what armor you wore, you always looked to have parts of the same armor until the highest class, which was just a completed look.
There's probably hardcore monk-oriented equipment that is light on the armor side.
Lobster @ Feb 7th 2010 11:47AM
Holy crap. She's... She's wearing... clothes! Are they allowed to do that!?
Steve D. @ Feb 8th 2010 11:11AM
Maybe I've played too much Dungeons and Dragons (and yes, playing ANY Dungeons and Dragons is too much), but monks and armor just don't work.
