Two noteworthy pieces of information came out of a recent Famitsu interview (as translated by Andriasang) with Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura regarding the prolific Disney-Final Fantasy mash-up franchise, Kingdom Hearts. The first isn't all that surprising -- when questioned at the end of the interview about Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura simply replied "Regarding III, fans and partners alike are pressing us for it, so we'll work to realize it as soon as possible."
Here's the more intriguing (or disturbing, depending on how you look at it) tidbit -- when asked about Sora's character design, Nomura remarked that the Disney staff made a few alterations to his outfit, explaining his stupid big shoes and pants. He went on to reveal that, in addition to wielding a chainsaw-sword instead of a giant key, Sora once possessed a tail and "beast-like ears." That can only mean one thing in our book: Furry. We'll take outrageously baggy pants over unsettling therianthropy any day of the week.

Other 12 Final Fantasy main entries (I-XII) haven't been released on Xbox or Xbox360 and it didn't keep Squeenix from releasing FF XIII on that platform. Thus, I'm not 100% convinced by your point.

I hope not for the very reason KH has always been an open world game aside from the spin off. I don't want it to become another highly linear game like FFXIII. The other final fantasy games are not related to FFXIII.
I don't understand these achievement and trophies. Unless I can redeem real prizes, it personally does not give me any satisfaction. In fact, the more trophies I get, the less of a life I feel like I have.

You never know if MS and Sony will introduce new systems with the next generation of consoles that won't be backwards compatible. They would be silly to do that, considering how popular the achievements and trophies are right now. I mean, they are actually dealmakers and dealbreakers for some that consider buying a game for crying out loud! : 0
I admit that I find them addicting and then I have this drive to get them, even though they mean nothing but to add onto my e-penis. For instance, I wasted a lot of time trying to get the "One Man Army" achievement in the 360 version of GTA4. Funny thing is that I used a trainer to cheat and got that achievement easily in the PC version which is a Games for Windows LIVE title. : D

Yes, but the FF 1 through 12 are all completely different stories that take place in different universes. None of them have any relation to Final Fantasy XIII besides the name Final Fantasy.
Kingdom Hearts III on the other hand is directly related to the first and second game, so It wouldn't make much sense to release the sequel on a console that didn't get the previous two installments.

The article about this on VGChartz claims that Nomura feels the KH Osaka dev team (BBS) is capable of making a quality KH game, so maybe they'll start working on KH3?

True. It would jive with previous statements to be PS3 exclusive.

Depends on who's pulling the strings in the partnership. Disney is going to stump for it to go on Wii, especially if Epic Mickey does well, whereas Nomura himself is probably going to push for PS3, which would inevitably become HD multiplat
My guess is that Disney would convince Square Enix that there is more growth potential for the franchise on Wii, but that depends on whether Disney itself becomes convinced of that.

That makes absolutely no sense...
Two games were released for a Nintendo device (GBA, DS): Chain of Memories, 358/2
Four games were released for a Sony device (PS2, PSP): Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, RE: Chain of Memories, Birth By Sleep
How could you possibly think that a game would be unprecedentedly released for the Wii? Especially one of the core series (which have always tended to be released for the Sony console).

Because things have changed quite significantly this generation, perhaps. Where was the line in logic in putting Monster Hunter 3 as a Wii exclusive, despite the entire franchise having previously been at home on Sony platforms?
Disney and Square Enix would both balk at the idea of the game being PS3 exclusive, and Disney at least would want to continue cultivating their properties where they have been cultivating them so far, which is Wii

I don't know. It's just a feeling I get.
It's the same way that Star Ocean 4 went to the 360 and not the PS3 or Wii. Or the Okami sequel went to DS intead of PS2/PS3.
History doesn't mean anything, anymore. These days, you can never tell where sequels are going to end up.

Fans would go batshit if it ended up on Wii and they know it. My guess is it will be on PS3/360 going by Square's precious desicions.

Provided KH3 is going to be exclusive (which may not be the case), it is likely to end up on Xbox360. Bill Gates is crapping with money, now, that Windows 7 is selling like hot cakes and he doesn't mind throwing a few bucks for Squeenix to secure another exclusive title.
Time will tell.

Again, fans went batshit when Monster Hunter went Wii-exclusive, but that didn't stop it from being the #2 best-selling 3rd party console game in Japan so far
The fans will follow the game to the platform it goes to, largely, and the Japanese fans at least are highly likely to have Wiis anyway. It's only a section of Western fans that would be hostile to the move to the point of just not buying it, and those fans could be made up for by the Disney branding being able to reach out a little further on the Wii than it perhaps could have otherwise.

I dont think Epic Mickey will be much of a deciding factor. I think the main reason Epic Mickey went Wii exclusive is because its mainly targeted at casual gamers.
And a bigger growth potential on the Wii? I beg to differ.
Many 3rd party developers are avoiding the Wii for its bigger titles, because the PS3 and 360 are MUCH more profitable.
Disney has a good relationship with Sony. Remember how Disney was one of the first supporters of Blu-ray? Both Sony and Disney will try to pull some strings, that much is clear.
As a Kingdom Hearts fanboy that I am, I can pretty much guarantee you one thing:
If KH3 turns out to be exclusive, it will most certainly be for the PS3. If not, it will be PS3/360.

If history meant anything there would have never been a Square Enix game on a Sony console in the first place to even have this argument. SE games (even pre-merger) tend gravitate toward the largest install base. Plus, Kingdom Hearts lends itself best to the Wii target audience. The Wii is the casual console this generation like the PS2 was last generation. KH is one of those games that attracts significant casual audiences. The PS3 is not remotely in that market segment.
Since Disney is the effective owner of the franchise, the larger corporation, and the dominant business partner in the arrangement (No Mickey Mouse, no Kingdom Hearts), the most reasonable prediction is KH3 being a Wii game.

Epic Mickey is going to be an Epic Failure because it's a Wii exclusive. If they want to make a KH3 main entry that limited in scope and scale just do a PSP or DS version. Making it for the Wii is wasting everyone who cares about the franchises time. 3rd parties (including Capcom who did Monster Hunter) are coming out of the wood work saying focusing on WIi development is actually LOSING them money and they need to refocus on the PS3 & 360, where gamers are more likely to buy their titles.
I'd bet PS360 release before a Wii release. It wouldn't sell for shit on the Wii and everyone except stupid Disney knows that.

The Kingdom Hearts team is currently working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII. They had previously stated almost two years ago that development wouldn't start on KHIII until FF Versus XIII was finished. They are using Versus XIII to see how they will do a KHIII games, as in the battle system and such.
