It looks like that entire game's worth of removed content might be making it into Final Fantasy XIII after all. GameStop has posted the box art for the Xbox 360 version of the game and, more importantly, it has also posted the art for the back of the box. As you can see above, the box mentions that Final Fantasy XIII will support downloadable content after all, though there is no mention of what the DLC actually is. It's worth noting that the content could be something as simple as Avatar outfits or accessories, though it would certainly make sense for Square Enix to supply its most well-known franchise with post-launch DLC.
The news comes after producer Yoshinori Kitase was rumored to have stated that no DLC had been planned for the game, though he noted it was still "possible." Final Fantasy Union, however, notes that Kitase apparently confirmed DLC during a recent interview with the Dutch Official Playstation Magazine. The box art certainly seems to confirm that, though we've reached out to Square for clarification. As of this writing, GameStop has yet to post the art for the back of the PS3 version, so it's unclear if both platforms will support said content.

You're still right however.
I could see it being nothing more than a item or something if anything.
Sometimes games don't even get DLC and have that on the box.

It might be like that Chocobo thing for Avatars on LIVE
If not, I could imagine Square releasing a story chapter, but more likely I imagine stuff like themes and so on.
I hope they add a chapter that is like a mockery of past FF's, like maybe a Gilgamesh battle...

Maybe the DLC will be free for PS3 owners.
Kind of a.. "Sorry we had to gimp your version, guys, so... here you go!" thing.

As a PS3 owner, I'm glad that the 360 has this game. Now I can talk to all my friends about tips and tricks; not leaving out anyone. Just like CoD: MW2.
I don't understand why PS3 and 360 fanboys still argue which one is better when obviously NES will always be the best w/ PowerPad on it's side. Horse Wins!

If this goes from PS3-exclusive to multi-console with 360-exclusive DLC, I will literally burn Sony to the ground.

Kitase allegedly confirmed the DLCs existence to "Dutch Official Playstation Magazine" so its likely multi-console.

Brian-
I was referring to the end of the article that speculated the possibility of the DLC not being available on the PS3 version. I don't care if Xbox gets it, as long as PS3 does as well.
Point is, FFXIII was supposed to be PS3-exclusive, and then Sony wouldn't pony up to make that happen. As a result of that, the game was cut down significantly (as the article says "a full game's worth of content" was cut out of the final version) to make it "fair" (AKA allow the 360 able to handle it). So Sony's ignorance and the 360's limited capabilities have already really screwed up a game I've been waiting several years for, and the thing hasn't even come out yet.
That being said, if that annoyance is further compouned by 360-exclusive DLC, I am going to be really, really pissed.
That's "what is wrong with me". Any other questions?

No article EVER said that sing.
The only thing the article ever said was that a game's worth of content was left out of FFXIII. No reason was ever given. For all we know, this was content like what gets cut from every game for a variety of different reasons. Same as with movies (IE each LoTR movie had like an hour of cut scenes, but that wasn't because they weren't on blu-ray..).

don't worry microsoft didn't want to pay for a fourth disc so they probably didn't have enough room on three so they want you to download the ending or something.
lol i mean its only one blu-ray

Jesus...every f#cking game now has the inevitable "GOTY" edition down the line.
I won't buy anything on day one for this exact reason.

Exactly this is no one corporations plan or idea. Most developers see this as a way of making money and continuing sales of their games. Sell DLC, then sell GOTY editions with the inclusion of the DLC some people didn't purchase from the console game store.
It's only going to continue on. So just learn to deal with it.

Nah...my money, my investment.
I'm not at the mercy of these companies. They want to run the DLC gambit, let them. But it's not my intent to start falling into the double-dip syndrome.
I'm an exceedingly patient consumer. Also, I would never buy a new game from Gamestop.

So, after acting like you had to cut things because you couldn't afford 4 DVDs for the 360, you're going to market it as download content? What does it do, add east and west to the game?
SE has been full of it for a while. They got greedy, let their fans thing it was the 360's fault, and are now ready to cash in with some sob story about how bad it was for them. In reality, all FF13 is just a copy of FF10 with updated graphics and a slightly changed story. Innovation scares them and they've gotten lazy.

Oh man, I laugh at the validity of your comment.
I don't know if it's the Penguin Mario, or the fact that you haven't played the game, or even the fact that I know you have NO IDEA what it takes to make a game even half as beautiful as FFXIII...
but, laziness is never something you should accuse Square Enix of being. DLC may or may not be paid, so who knows?

I had it on my list, then removed it due to all the bad reviews. In my 30+ years of playing videogames, this is the only one that I've discounted due to the reviews.
Graphics wise, I could care less. Everyone here knows I think FF6 is the best Final Fantasy game to have ever been created. Graphics have never been a determining factor for me. What is factor is a lack of exploring, compelling story, and the fact that don't enjoy walking in one direction for 60+ hours.
Anyone who has played FF games as long as I have can tell you that SE has lost that something. They started back on the right path with FF12, then got scared and went back their own rehashing tactics by releasing FF10 with a female Cloud Strife.

Well, if it's like FF X then I'll be happy, because that is undoubtedly one of the best in the series. Sounds like you are just letting nostalgia get in the way of your judgement.

Even so, low-mid 80's is good. And they are mainly criticizing the lineariry and lack of side quests. They wouldn't be criticizing it if they weren't expecting it, that's why it would be higher if it wasn't labled Final Fantasy. One of the reasons why game criticism still needs to grow up.

This is why I hate speaking up on Joystiq. If you point out that you think and older game is better, it's always because of nostalgia. Whatever. Nostalgia, like graphics, only carries so far. A good game is just good, no matter the age.
Anyway, I can't invest in a game that holds my hand and, by all accounts, that is what FF13 does. I'll stick with FF14 when it comes out because I doubt there will ever be another "traditional" Final Fantasy.
