I gave up and switched to MAG, tried going back but its so much better when there are tangible objectives to go for and when teamwork is in place.

I'm falling behind as a 4th prestige. One of my friends made it to 10th .

I don't even want to think about how many hours it would take to legitimately get to the tenth prestige. I just got to the first prestige, and I'm much better than average. It took me roughly 40 hours, so anyone on the 10th prestige must have dumped a considerable portion of their life into the game in order to be where they are.

in COD, you actually can win by not doing any objectives and just killing (for most game modes anyways). and how does search take more time than HQ? search is actually how most people get to 10th in the first place. demolition, search, and HQ are the best modes to rank up in. demo is also best for kills once you have a good strategy set.

The amount of fail in this thread is truly surprising.

Search gives the most XP if you get kills. 500XP for a single kill and 1000XP for a headshot? Jesus, someone got a Pave Low from a Care Package and when I shot it down I got 4000XP.

You can get a TON of XP in Search, you just have to be good. Team Deathmatch is also one of the easiest modes to get nukes in, depending on the map and your personal play style.

On topic: Can't wait to see the infinite care package glitch fixed. I've left so many games after seeing people get a 4 kill streak and somehow come back from a 2000 point loss after sending it 18 Harriers and 3 Chopper Gunners.

this is true. SnD can give the MOST xp if you are GOOD at it. keyword, GOOD. If you suck, obviously you will think it gives low xp. I average around 10k xp per SnD game getting around 7-10 kills per game and a bomb plant/defuse or 2.

@Ghen
I disagree with the idea of a stat reset. If this was like Halo where ranks were actually an indicator of skill, I'd be down with the idea. In MW2, however, ranks just show how much you've played. I know a lot of people (myself included) that enjoy trying to get all the challenges and callsigns. Resetting that progress would really suck. I don't want to have to get 40 bullet penetration kills with the F2000 again.

Plus, I like seeing 10th prestige players in the lobby because I know chances are high they won't be any good.

Apparently, this patch has already been circumvented on the European PS3 and CP glitches continue (somehow those bastards figured out a new way to glitch it). I want to know when a solid, final solution is coming.

Joystiq, can you get in touch with Robert Bowling and confirm that the patch you're referring to in this post permanently fixes this problem or if this is the original patch that doesn't close all the holes?

Yeah, I'm not angry like the forum whiners are, I just want to make sure we all know whether this patch is the last one on this issue or if they need to keep working on it (because I've read elsewhere that the patch IW submitted last week doesn't permanently fix it). I'm pretty understanding of all the demands on IW and that there are only so many hours in a day to address them.

Just looking for clarification.

Yeah, a beta had the potential to relieve us of these big glitches before the mass of users had to deal with them.

At least they are fixing them though. Better than when companies ignore certain glitches, which IW was perfectly intent doing to CoD2.

But I think fixing every single glitch is downright impossible, and in some cases stupid. Certain glitches, like those in Quake, actually enhance the game and depth. They are rare though. But yeah, it's like trying to prevent piracy; ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, in the big scheme of things, it's not a completely game-crippling glitch (hell, most times it's easy to beat the other team that's glitching because they're too busy collecting their packages and you can just noobtube them). It's very annoying and ruins the flow of a match, but anyone who says a beta would have found this is really just saying "I wish I had been able to play a beta a couple months before it came out because I was jonesing so hard to play" and blames any glitch on the lack of that beta.

Name some multiplayer shooters that have been completely glitch free. I can't think of any.

Rick, this "approval process" of Microsoft's is just another ball-gripper they have to ensure they have total control over content.

Well, at least we know they're actively trying to fix these bugs. I wonder how long the game could go without being fixed though, it's just that popular. Of course, so was GoW2. Haven't played MW2 since the month I got it, but I still wish there was a faster way to do this.

I've given up on the game which is a shame because I genuinely liked it when it was first released.

Constant balance issues and glitches has ruined it, i've had much more fun playing BC2 as there's a much greater sense of teamwork and camping is pretty much non existant thanks to the "killcam", FrostBite engine with it's amazing geometry destruction and WELL BALANCED gameplay.

I've been an avid gamer of both CoD and BF and played every single iteration that has been released so i'm not being biased or a "fanboy", i'm just dissapointed how InfinityWard haven't sorted the issues out yet.

Are you being serious or what? I don't know, I kinda like BC2 but at times it just feels too....floaty. The bullets don't carry nearly the amount of weight behind them in order to make it feel like a real battlefield.

Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best-selling games of all time and is played by millions, so of course some jackasses who have nothing better to do will find some exploits. Any other game with the same monumental fanbase would be going through the same thing. Infinity Ward is actively trying to patch things up in an otherwise well-balanced and fun game. Quite frankly I think the people overexaggerate how glitchy MW2 actually is.

are you going to compare things like Plasma sword lunges that spanned the whole map that could barely be done in an actual game, to the ability to spawn limitless items that can end the entire game?

Most MW2 glitches come from people hacking into the game. Most of the Halo 2 glitches were from poor coding. There were a ton of Halo 2 glitches. So yes, I'm comparing them.

I know you are just a bitter PC gamer, Brian. But if you had played Halo 2 (on the xbox) for more a reasonable amount of time, you would notice it was pretty much what is happening to MW2 right now.

really? You're going to compare a 5+ year old game coded on an console that's not in production anymore to mw2? I'm not saying the game is bad, I'm just saying it's glitchie. The javeline and infinite package glitches where done in game, not on modded consoles.

@That Guy

A few balance issues? Jesus christ have you been under a rock.
Who said it was just weapons? There's a lot that needs to be looked at in that game whether it be the frankly overpowered chopper gunner or the superhuman distance some of the shotguns have, not to mention the geometry glitches.

Fanboism? Grow up. I've got both the PS3 and 360 and fanboism has nothing to do with it, MW2 NEEDED a beta, end of. It's the same issue (more or less) regardless of the platform it's being played on.

But people will continue to pour hours into playing it because "OMG IT'S MW2".

Keep your pre-pubescent comments to yourself and look at the facts, the issues affect a lot more people than you think.
