Maybe it has nothing to do with severs. Perhaps we like bc2 because of the huge maps, destructable enviroments, and vehicles.

Ironic, I thought I'd seen it all, but you're so sadly misinformed.

You're comparing Halo 2, one of the first big online console based games, to a game built off of framework that previously worked?

And Halo 3 was nearly glitch free. When you only have to do two title updates for a game in three years, that's a really good sign.

What's MW2 on now? 1.4?

@That Guy

This guy pretty much sums up everything:

"Modern Warfare 2 is the most disappointing game I have ever played. It's not just the glitchers in every game, it's the severe lack of any balance. If nearly everyone is running around 50mph, stabbing you from 20ft away, with dual wielding Model shotguns that require no aim from 100ft away, then things like tactics just go right out the window. Every time I try to flank the enemy, there is so much frantic chaos that it ends up being a frontal assault. I'm bored with it."

Should be on the next page of comments.

sorry I accused you of being sprnkles, the private profile had me suspicious.
Anyhoo back to the topic at hand, I see I have to be an expert in something to find the flaws in it? Wow. What other excuse could there be for not catching all the bugs within the game? Yes every game has bugs, but for a game this big and this good you would think they would put a greater effort to fnd bugs in their game. Not to mention that the matchmaking problems. It still seems I have a 1 in 3 chance of losing a party member everytime ui search for a game. But Im bit a programmer so I guess I don't know shit.

keep on hating, im not hating anyone for there choice in gaming.

i must have logged hundreds of hours into halo 2 and loved it, i loved the first mw on pc, yes, dedicated servers make a difference to me.

Everyone who i have personally spoken to says that mw2 was a bad purchase, so im taking that experience from them.

I play consoles as well, but my love goes to PC, you can hold onto your juvenile ways and insult people who prefer that, fine by me.

But dont make assumptions about me. thanks.

also, BETAs are good for everyone.

@Sly

I do shoot shotguns all the time and yes they can shoot further than 15 feet but the type of load will depend on the amount of spread and effectiveness of the round. You can take a tactical headshot from 20 feet with a shotgun slug but it's not easy at all to hit the mark because of the amount of recoil. They are basically close quarters weapons, good for crowd control situations. Even with the knox recoil reducing stock I have installed and the tactical forend grip he thing still bucks enough (especially with high caliber self defense loads that would be used in a tactical situation) that it would be very difficult to be accurate beyond 12 feet on a moving target. If you shoot often go out with about 8 different types of loads and cardboard cutouts of a persons head and torso, shoot from 5, 10, 15 & 20 feet and then tell me that it's realistic to expect that someone could hit a moving (or stationary) target outside of 10 feet with a shotgun. It's just not really designed for that type of application. I'd be more effective with a sidearm (which is actually its range) than a shotgun or rifle. I'm a pretty solid shot and hit a tiny red balloon from over 200 yards away with only iron sights (no scope) with an Ruger 10-22. I couldn't hit that target with a scoped Ak-47 or M-4 (I tried) because of the larger caliber bullet dragging over the distance.

I guess I need someone to explain to me the incentive to even get the 1887s anymore? I mean if they're not anymore powerful with FMJs and Akimbo than their non-bling version why even have FMJs and Akimbo for it?? FMJs make every gun more powerful so why is the 1887s an exception to the rule??

Seems to me that a lot of people have obviously complained about it, but I say since we're doing this lets just make the game hand-to-hand combat. That way you don't have to worry about their being any advantage over anyone else.

FMJ is only supposed to make guns more powerful through surface penetration. I.e, clean hits with FMJ guns should be the same as those without FMJ.

dont you think that FMJs on the Spas, Magnum or other secondary weapon dont increase it? They do... so tell me why 1887s should be the exception and that FMJs shouldnt increase range.

Another point, they're 10 gauge shotguns. they're suppose to be more powerful than the other shotguns. I dont know if you noticed but the shells are blue. 12 gauge shells are red, so with that being said they have the right to be a hell of a lot more powerful.

I tend to see more complaints about MW2 on here than any other game.
I think the argument of "its so popular which is why there are so many glitches being found" is total bollocks. It's more like the backlash from the poor pricing plan and gameplay decisions continuing as time goes on.

At least BC2 has bullet drop because i'm sick to death of a sniper camped on the wing of an airplane with a seemingly pinpoint accurate ACOG .50 Cal.

This situation is very common. When the Quake 3 Beta came out, it was released first for Linux, then Mac, then Windows. They started small and ended with the major platform, so that most bugs were ironed out before it was released to the widest audience, who could then test for minutia.

You can't compare Halo 2 glitches to MW2 glitches because Halo 2 was an original Xbox game in the early days of Xbox Live. Live is so much better today, and IW has been working with it for 5 yrs. For Halo 3, Bungie started to fix the glitches as soon as they popped up, but IW seems to be taking its sweet time. The XP glitch has been around for a month already and still hasn't been fixed. This is why I hardly play MW2 anymore and mostly play L4D2 cause its a hell of a lot better game than MW2

There was no mulitplayer matchmaking in the first Halo. Halo 2 was the first time they did a game with matchmaking features, and that's why it's comparable to MW1, therefore the relevant analogy. It seems a little ridiculous for one's stability and glitch-free-ness to move forward (H3>H2) while the other somehow gets worse (MW1>MW2). Conspicuously, one also had a huge beta, while one did not.

1887's should have never been nerfed. The stats in the game clearly said its power and they shouldnt change that. The spas has more f-ing range then the models now. And now that they are going to fix the bling work-around is bull. Also in real life think of the range of a shot gun and the guns we have in mw2 are severly cut short of that. the 1887's was like the only accurate one.

Totally agree with you, man. Its like a bunch of Whiney ass babies bitched and moaned enough to get their way, again. The Models are 10 gauge shotguns, which throw twice as much lead as a 12 gauge. (look at the shell casings. They are blue which indicates its the 10 gauge 1887 model) Its ridiculous because we paid $60 to play a damn beta.

And another thing. You're so right about the stats on the models. They have the stats better than the spas, but now the spas outshoots the models by a long shot.

Don't talk about MW2's depiction of these ancient shotguns as "accurate". It's a lever action shotgun... Its an homage to a sci-fi movie--Terminator 2. And in that movie, the superhuman terminator from the future only used ONE. I would love to see someone running around with 2 of these bad boys in real life, i really would. I think the chances of seeing two Model 1887's being used by one person out in the field are about the same as finding bigfoot hiding in your closet.

figured I'd throw my 2 cents in because people are buying into the whole bc2 vs. mw 2 argument when they are completely different breeds of shooter(and equally as crappy but in different respects). To state first off....I'm a big tactical shooter fan and a huge fan of both series. I play primarily on my xbox but I also have a PS3 and love it.(I don't even know why I had to state that when they're both effin multiplatform games)

MW2

1. The models are overpowered especially when compared to their real world counterpart..also the fact that you can dual wield them and they are still accurate blows my mind. We are talking about super powerful shotguns that weigh 8lbs and have an over 20 inch barrell. Based off that alone i wonder why we can't also dual wield the m1014? another complaint would be the amount of ammunition you can carry with the gun versus any other shotgun...it just borderlines on ridiculous when every other gun is somewhat comparable to their real life counterpart in terms of firepower, accuracy and ability to dual wield. The models are introduced as some sort of fantastical re-imagination.

2.This game is one of the highest selling games of all time and most people bought it for the multiplayer...you think activision would show more love for the community by frequently updating their pride and joy, but thats not the case. Activision doesn't give a damn if the game is balanced or not...they designed to the game to be as addictive as possible and they tried to nerf any sort of learning curve the game has by introducing care packages...and while care packages are fun as hell to use it seriously detracts from the core gameplay. But WHYTF would Activision care...they already have your money. Activision publicly states their shameful business tactics why would anyone assume that doesn't effect how their games are designed/maintained.

BC2:
1.I've always loved the BC series but once the "goldrush" mode was introduced it's kind of soured me on the series... What the hell is the point of having vehicles now if there are only two roads per map... it renders them almost worthless even though the vehicles were BF's differentiating factor from every other console fps. Now the game is a sub par team shooter with average destruction physics...big woop.

2. The frostbite engine kind of blows...the bf console games always have had issues with floaty, stiff, non responsive controls but it seems to get worse with every iteration.

3. Ea shouldn't even mention this game as having dedicated servers as a bullet point. Ea's servers are absolutely terrible... add in some lag with how unresponsive this game is and it creates a game where your skill as a player is completely irrelevant because what's happening on your screen is usually different than what's going on on the other end of the intertube.

Both games to be honest are kind of a stain on each individual franchise's integrity.. and to be honest both dev's Dice and IW should take a step back and take a look at why their franchises are even popular in the first place...instead they have to shoehorn these ridiculous new features(mw2) or just pretty much use the same old crappy engine and make new maps(bc2) to justify spamming us with sequels.

It's a bit hard to get excited by this news when everybody and their brother knows that there are more glitches and hacks on the way. Not to mention that glitches and hacks aside this won't change the fact that this game is one big killstreak, air support, camping wank-a-thon that's usually more frustrating than fun. No thanks.

Glad this patch is coming. At times it has been almost unplayable, specially when they are dropping an emergency airlift every 20 seconds. Now if they would just fix the lobby system (which I doubt since they never fixed MW1). Bungie managed to make (perhaps) the best lobby system in use, I don't see why gamer developers don't copy it.

It may not matter to those randoms that are dropping in an out of games, but I play with a dedicated group of gamers and we always go in as a full team. It can be very frustrating finding a game where we all make it into the pre-game lobby.

And BxGT: using punctuation and complete sentences is the best way to get your thoughts across and have them taken seriously. Real world skills matter.

I gave up on Modern Warfare 2. No immediate action on these glitches ruins the game. I don't like glitchers. I don't like seeing a ranking system gone to crap due to glitching. I don't like paying $60 for a game that is full of mistakes. Don't get me wrong, i love the Modern Warfare 2 game but this has been utter nonsense and a slap in the face for supporting a game that is obviously ignoring the masses.

I'd say we do a class action suit against Infinity Ward for selling us a half-ass game that has so many holes might as well call it swiss cheese.

I'm done, and have lost faith in Infinity Ward. I'm sure Treyarch will come up with a much better follow up to WaW.

I can't stand the unrealistic sizes when it comes to weapons in this game. Has anyone actually seen a Barrett Sniper Rifle in real life? The thing is damn massive and would be impossible to run around with. They weigh over 30lbs and are almost 5 feet long. It's just not realistic.

Look at the size: http://www.akinoluna.com/BlogPhotos/sniperrifle.jpg

Same thing with the 1887s. I would love to see someone actually fire two of them at the same time in real life like you can in the game. Unless you're the Terminator those bastards are going to fly out of your hands and hit you in the mouth.

law student weighing in: what exactly would you be looking to recover by bringing a class action lawsuit against IW? The value that you place on what the game could have been, but for IW's negligence in not making it as awesome as you think it should be? Nice thought, but you bought the product, and you don't have any damages.

As to the game itself, I'm glad they toned down the potency of the 1887's, but only because the akimbo setup is a bit ridiculous. How they went about doing so, however, is odd...I agree with previous comments that nullifying the bling fmj/akimbo doesn't make much sense. Also, why on earth did they even allow shotguns to access FMJ? It's "full metal jacket"...are we shooting bullets out of these things?

Personally, they really need to rework the distance of the lunges for knifing and the power of the pistols. In MW, I could do some real damage with an m9 or a USP 45...accuracy and reasonable power. A few well-placed rounds and you have a kill. Not so in MW2, and it's a shame.

I was a big fan of the rainbow six series back when it originated and in the first couple of installments. I know this is more arcade-style shooting than tactical fps, but being able to distinguish whether you wanted to use FMJ or hollow point, shell vs. slug, and actual power/distances of weapons was great.

Biggest problem right now is the super-human ninja-like abilities of players who use marathon, lightweight, and commando. Are they vampires or something?
