I think this guy hit it on the head. Microsoft's PR would never allow Moleneux to shed Natal in a negative light by claiming that the decision for it's exclusive use in a franchise will piss people off.
He's worried that people are going to be more pissed of about not owning a physical copy of the game, and having to go out and buy a large hard drive. This also explains why they're getting the game done so speedily. As they can release it in segments.

I've been reading the comments and I think the two most likely scenarios are that it will require Natal to play or that it'll be an MMO. I don't see them making it a FPS or making it multiplatform.

It's going to be delayed. Won't come out until fall 2010. It's necessary to make the game as good as it needs to be, but everyone WILL be pissed.

Lionhead studios is a subsidiary of Microsoft after all. Molyneux is also Creative Director of Microsoft Game Studios, Europe.
But to answer your question, fanboys would in fact be rather puzzled as to why Microsoft's own studio would make games for other platforms.

Then he had the audacity to try it again, and now he continues. I doubt I will even get Fable 3, or at the most I will get it for $10 used like I did for the last one.
