EA's tentative release schedule for Q4 of its fiscal 2011 (or, as us normal people call it, January–March 2011) contains more than a few intriguing entries. You already heard about the new Dragon Age game -- but listed just below that is an untitled "Shooter from Epic TBA." Of course, this can only mean one thing: Gears of Madden 2012 is within spitting distance of becoming a sweet reality! Wait -- what's that? Oh, right, the listing more likely points to new speculative details about that possible "Bulletstorm" project from Epic's People Can Fly studio. How ... unofficial.
Also listed under the early 2011 releases is Dead Space 2, which EA had previously promised would drop before next March. The excitement level of the remaining games drops off like the deep end of a pool: The list includes (deep breath) a new Need For Speed on consoles and PC (in addition to an apparent Holiday 2010 release), a downloadable "action" game, a new fighting game designated as a "sports" title, a new Hasbro game (more Family Game Night?), and new installments in the Sims and Spore franchises.

If dead space 2 is gunna be more action over horror, then I ain't buying. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about dead space.

make it first person and i will buy it on the release day. no, nvm, ill pre order. ill get all of my friends to pre order it. 3rd person is what killed number 1. it takes away the entire thrill of the game when your watching the guy instead of BEING the guy.

Shift was still arcadey, at least compared to other sims. That's what they're best at and should stick to it. They oughta make a Most Wanted 2 tho..

You're not the only one that is a tad worried about it being more action then horror.

People Can Fly have a new game coming out? Awesome. Loved Painkiller. The sequels were shit but they are not to blame.

I wouldn't worry. The Gameinformer interview I read says they're adding a few more action sequences and pacing the game better. They insist they're sticking with what the fans liked in Dead Space - scares, difficulty, atmosphere, limited resources, etc. They're just improving on the formula.

Ok, I guess I'll have to say it: Way to rip-off Left 4 Dead 2's cover art

This was just a mock up joke from the joystiq crew, not the actual cover. The original cover was pretty similar, but had more than just a left hand floating in space like the L4D1 box.

Dedaspace was one of those games where you went in without expectations, then at one point during gameplay you realized that you were playing a masterpiece.

eh I do keep hearing decent things about it and I'm willing to give it a chance but not at the original price point and the newer price point of ~$30 still seems steep for a railshooter. Yeah its a popular and seemingly deservingly so IP but a rail shooter as an official version of the game for the Wii just seemed weak. I know they couldn't have ported it as there is no way the Wii would have survived that but it just felt like they sat down decided they needed "something" to represent deadspace on the Wii ..... then set interns loose on the project (again not saying its bad just that it was arguably the weakest link presented to a console).
And I'm forced to agree that EA is going to use the sales of it on the PS360 at ~$14 and in Hi Def as proof that there is no hardcore market on the Wii ..... somehow ..... tho it could just be that they are offering a higher quality version of the game that wasn't a bad game and now its dirt cheap instead of what ~$50 when it launched on the Wii, add to that as I recall there were no shortage of rail shooters on the system at the time either =P

I too, am concerned at the apparent change in genre. Being a survival horror game is what made Dead Space the awesome game it was. And now they want to go change that?
I'm concerned. Hopefully, it's misplaced in the long run.

I'm looking forward to Dead Space 2 but I'm concerned with how the story will be presented with the way the game ended in the second. While I'm not against sequels, I only appreciate them if they can be told in a way that isn't obviously a commercial decision over a creative decision.
Anyways while I'm intrigued in Dead Space 2 I'm much more interested in the Epic shooter that should be announced at E3:
