Right off the bat, you should know this: for EA, losing $82 million in the third quarter of a fiscal year is an enormous improvement. Compared to the same period last year ("Q3" for EA is October 1 – December 31), the company lost 559 million fewer actual physical dollars. Yes, really. Now that we've told you that, we should also note that the publisher pulled in 24.85 percent less revenue year over year (down to $1.243 billion in Q3 2010 from $1.654 billion in Q3 2009). That said, Playfish had "two of the top ten Facebook games" for the quarter! Good thing EA spent $300 million on those folks, eh?
Okay, okay, real talk: the company also points out that it was the "#1 packaged goods publisher in North America and Europe" for its entire fiscal year. CEO John Riccitiello even notes that Mass Effect 2 is "the first blockbuster of 2010." And hey, with 2 million units already shipped, we tend to agree.

No, they're still doing it. It's a 1:10 ratio and that's not good.

No...no I remember a couple years ago there was a report that stated that the PS3 versions alone were more profitable than the 360 versions. Which at the time I thought was even more strange since the PS3 base was half of what is now and around 3-4 million consoles less than the current 360 pace.

@Solace
It still doesn't clear up how this is possible despite the 360 versions consistently outselling the PS3 version. Could be that maybe the Euro FIFA sales for the PS3 version outsell the 360 version and are single handily responsible for the boost in PS3 version revenue?
Whatever.

The fact of the matter is that is a fact.
Dont cry over it or lose sleep, its not worth it.
Theres a reason why you're lounging around on a gameblog trying to fathom this fact, and not a graduate in Business & Finance working for EA. Not for you to worry about. Accept, move on.

Clearly, this is an accounting anomaly. If we look over the last 3 months of NPD's, here is every occurrence of EA on the top software sales list:
October 2009:
FIFA Soccer 10 - XBox 360 - EA - 156K
November 2009:
Dragon Age: Origins - Xbox 360 - EA - 362K
December 2009:
Left 4 Dead 2 - Xbox 360 - EA - 728.5K
Solace has posted that link dozens of times over the last year, but it is pretty clear where the majority of EA's revenue is coming from.

@Solace
Keyword there is "revenue" NOT "profit". PS3 is most likely NOT more profitable than say the 360 for EA.

EA will recover. They have lots of great games coming out. I just hope this doesn't mean more online services being cut... or studios being closed... or massive lay offs... or the end of taking risks on new IP and instead repackaging the old games in a new box with a few extra features...
