That's ridiculous. You can't continue along the lines of "what if..." It's pointless. It's Bioware, it's Mass effect, it will be awesome.

Hope So.

@LordPoncho
They said that the code was not an indicator that they wrote the game for all 3. They didn't say they weren't working on or planning on working on a PS3 version. Even if they were they wouldn't say. They specifically said it was "for PC and 360" not "ONLY for PC and 360." Look it up.

BioWare also said they liked developing for the PS3 so they will probably do more of it in the future. System exclusives are a bad idea in general. They hurt game industry growth... except for when you have to dumb down a game to make it work on a system(Sorry Wii and sometimes 360)

Even after we've been put through so many last-generation games for PC and Xbox that were dumbed down for PS2...?

Regardless of that, MS paid big money for this franchise; I doubt it's going to go PS3.

And much as system exclusives are the love and bane of many gamers out there, I don't think they ruin the industry. Without exclusives, we wouldn't need multiple consoles... and I think that the console race helps propel technology in lots of different directions.

What if Nintendo had won out over Sega long ago, Sony never entered the game, and MS didn't step up to the plate? We'd all be stuck with Wii right now, and no real alternative for consoles. Not that I dislike Wii, but I like the other consoles too, and it would be a shame not to have them.

I dont know how much much they can expect from bioware production. DA, ME2, DA:A all released within half a year, and apparently 2 titles to be released ~Jan 2011, and entire time ToR has been in development.

So far the games have been great, I just hope they don't try to force releases to make money and lose quality.

And this is talking about Rockstar and it's poor DLC performance/timed exclusive.

When Bioware says something is exclusive, it stays that way.

And ME's audience is on the PC and 360, there would be no point in wasting money on an old port that won't make them money.

Truth be told, I'd personally rather play ME2 on the PS3 rather than my 360.

My 360 failed last summer and to fix it i was told to get a new HDD, losing all my previous saves for ME1. Had to play a defult shepard in ME2, and if you've played a defult shepard in ME2 you know they made all the worst choices. Ashley alive, Wrex dead.

Well, GTA4 was disappointing too many. Once I beat the campaign, and played a little multiplayer, I traded it in.

I thought of picking up the disk expansion packs, but there are so many other great games out there, and the gameplay remained the same for the expansion packs.

I think we can all hope its not an ME MMO, ME is great because of your personal influence on the entire game world. In an MMO you would be reduced to a pissant in the sea of pissants. Would basically ruin it IMO.

Maybe Bioware are miracle workers and can make it happen and be awesome and make sense. I won't hold my breath tho.

90% of what makes Mass Effect great is the well-structured plot, weight lent to the player's decisions, and the impossible odds of you (and your crew) against the universe. Unless the MMO is a prequel (perhaps exploring humanity's first contact), I just don't see this happening *well*.

A single player game in the ME universe covering first contact would be dope. There's definitely a lot of canon to make a good prequel, what with the several wars they mention.

That's what I was thinking, too.

I have a short wishlist of unlikely but possible things:

- More single player games in the ME universe after the trilogy ends, where I can play as another species, if I so desire

- An MMO, someday (but only if it doesn't interfere with other ME single player games)

- A television show or movie based on the Mass Effect universe (if the characters could be as great as they are in every BioWare game, I think it could work... maybe)

I can dream.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age...

I'd pay a full game's worth to have a standalone expansion which loads both of your savegames, in which you can play as Sheppard or your DA character.
Having the Normandy pay a visit to Thedas, with Spectres and Grey Wardens joining against a fusion of Geth and Blight, which requires both technology and magic to be defeated.
Along the way you'd kill dragons with guns in dungeons and robots with medieval weapons and magic in alien bases.
The quest wouldn't be without spoils. High tech equips for DA and magical medieval equips for ME2.

RUSHING OUT SEQUELS FTW!

Wow. I didn't realize we took a step back into last generation where it was acceptable for AAA games to get development cycles that are well under two years. We already had Left 4 Dead 2 and I guess we can put Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 right next to the next Assassin's Creed if this is true. Hell, if that Uncharted 3 in 2010 rumor some have been toying around with is true that just adds another guest to the party.

I thought the oversaturation of the market had taught publishers that this was a bad idea. The downfall of Tony Hawk, Need for Speed, and the music game genre are evidence of that. Apparently not.

Those games were never as good as Mass Effect or Dragon age to begin with, so they're terrible examples. AAA games last gen never took that little time to get made either, so right off the bat you're being stupid. Even if they did, technology has advanced considerably sine then, games just dont need that long to develop anymore, especially since they dont waste time starting new graphics engines from scratch all the time.

@ The Dark Wayne

Just to use Tony Hawk as an example, the first four Pro Skater games in the series received *substantially* more critical and commercial success then the original Mass Effect or Dragon Age have. So before you call me stupid, how about you do you do your research eh?

During the PS1 and early PS2 era THPS was one of the best selling, best reviewed, and best received franchises in gaming, but unfortunately the recent games have tainted that history. While Mass Effect 2 is receiving some pretty significant critical acclaim, the same cannot be said to the same extent about ME1 or DA, both of which paled in comparison to Tony Hawk both critically and commercially .

While I highly doubt EA or Bioware will allow Mass Effect or Dragon Age to become yearly franchises with extremely short development cycles, and to the same extent I love Mass Effect now just as much, if not more so then I did playing Tony Hawk as a kid back in the day, I don't like the idea of back to back years with a Mass Effect title. I feel like it's selling the franchise short and spreading it too thin.

ME1 took 3 years to make and ME2 took over 2. What makes you think a quality, full fledged, triple-A Mass Effect game can be made in only a year assuming this is true?

Cool so they'll use Dragon Age as fluff for Mass Effect again. You know what that means: a mediocre game teetering on being horrible coming shortly before a refined and sleek game that has a potential to be "game of the year".

I guess you weren't playing the PC version because Dragon Age was awesome. They don't make games like that anymore, until Bioware did with Dragon Age.

Dragon Age was the best RPG of 2009. I really don't know where you coming from when you say that it is mediocre.

Guess what? Though you may deem Dragon Age a mediocre game, I thought it was the best game of 2009. Sure, ME2 seems a bit more polished, but Bioware has enough people to be putting out plenty of great games

I'd love to see DICE team up with Bioware to do a multiplayer only Mass Effect game in the style of Battlefield. It'd be a nice spin off, and all of the assets are already there. Instead of an APC, you could roll in a Mako. Instead of a helicopter, you get that Mercenary gunship. I feel really attached to the ME universe, so they could easily launch "Sims: Mass Effect" or "Battlefield: Mass Effect" or "Command and Conquer: Mass Effect" and I would probably them all. I can easily see a "Spore: Mass Effect" game working, too.

On another note, I don't get why the combat of ME2 is so B grade when EA has DICE's experience on the payroll. It's way improved over the C or D grade ME1 combat, but it still feels like a poor man's Rainbow Six Vegas (or Gears). The maps feel very small and linear, and the combat is not very deep (I suppose it is better than most FPS games though). Can't Bioware and DICE coordinate somehow? I've been playing the Bad Company 2 demo and it's really amazing how huge the battle environments are in that game. They feel more natural and realistic than the hallway-like battle environments of ME2.

I guess I just wanted to see a bigger scope to the combat, considering the grand scope of the story. RS Vegas seems like a good game for ME to emulate in the future, since the Rainbow operatives are commando-type folks like Shepherd's crew. In Vegas, you get to do a variety of activities, and actually have more "sci-fi" style equipment than Shepherd's team does. Night and heat vision, wire cameras, etc... and you get to plan how you want to attack a room, rapple through windows...
