Square Enix applies for 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution' trademark
Square Enix has applied to trademark Deus Ex: Human Revolution in Europe (#008862153). A quick scan of other international trademark bureaus hasn't revealed anything similar. As Siliconera notes, it could very well be the official name for the upcoming Deus Ex 3, but that may simply be a conspiratorial assumption based on logic.
Information on Deus Ex 3 is still quite scarce, with the little tidbits we do know highlighted by Square Enix handling CG cinematcs and that whole PC-exclusivity kerfuffle. Hopefully, this trademark signals that the Deus Ex prequel is ready to pull back the fiber-optic curtain.

Sounds good. I'm desperately hoping for a media blowout very soon. This could either be: Watered down shit, or a truly amazing FPS.
AoE @ Feb 8th 2010 9:13PM
No, you've got it wrong. If it's just an fps IT IS watered down shit. Not even DX 2 dumbed things down to that degree. Project Snowblind did... but I'll forget that game ever happened if you will.
Discotheque (Stop eating his Sesame Cake!) @ Feb 8th 2010 10:33PM
Deus Ex was an FPS though.
I should probably rephrase that as RPS. (Role Playing Shooter).
And no, Fallout 3 doesn't count as that because the gunplay in that game was shit. You needed VATS big time.
JC Denton @ Feb 9th 2010 7:52AM
If Mass Effect 2 is considered an RPG, so is Deus Ex. It had far more RPG elements than ME2, along with more open-ended missions.
kevin @ Feb 8th 2010 8:37PM
First game cool as hell, second game was garbage. hopefuly the third game makes up for the crap of the second one .please put some effort into this game .

Deus Ex: Generic Name
Shadsy @ Feb 8th 2010 8:40PM
Considered within the context of the plot, it makes perfect sense. It's the exact same with "The Conspiracy" and "Invisible War."
Gunther Hermann @ Feb 8th 2010 8:56PM
"Deus Ex: Great Game"
Here you go, I helped you with that.
Aerothorn @ Feb 8th 2010 11:02PM
Oh god, what an awful name. At least Invisible War was somewhat original. This is just bland.
monkeyzamm @ Feb 8th 2010 8:38PM
ha...kerfuffle...
YimYimYimi @ Feb 8th 2010 8:41PM
Speaking of that PC-exclusivity thing, it says in
Nice Classification:
List of goods and services:
"games for mobile phones"
so I'm guessing there's something for phones then.

I want some of what ever he's smokin!
nerdydesi (I do not play with toys AKA consoles) @ Feb 8th 2010 8:48PM
Most likely it would be. You tell me why wouldn't it?
Cheesus Crust (Steam=AliShaikh94)(XBL=AliShaikh)(PSN=Cheesus00Crust) @ Feb 8th 2010 8:50PM
Its not ModernWarfare2.
Ezio Auditore da Firenze @ Feb 8th 2010 8:53PM
Wow, there's really nothing cooler than somebody, or something, that smokes.
Granger (Stupid Quip with Reply Breaking Apostrophe) @ Feb 8th 2010 11:55PM
You know your morality is effed when being an Assassin is more acceptable than being a Smoker.
Gunther Hermann @ Feb 8th 2010 8:55PM
I'm not a machine.
Aerothorn @ Feb 8th 2010 11:03PM
Very nice.
Aerothorn @ Feb 8th 2010 11:03PM
Except that Gunther doesn't use contractions.
JC Denton @ Feb 9th 2010 7:55AM
actually he does. just in the "orange/lemon-lime" conversation he says "it's the maintenance man".
Ironically Ironic @ Feb 8th 2010 8:56PM
Because the original Deus Ex was ported over to the PS2 with not many problems. The reason the game might be "dumbed down" is because of the game designers, not the consoles' limitations.
When a PC gamer talks about dumbed down, they are talking about how you can play the game with less buttons rather than using 3 key presses to reload. Game developers are in the business of making money, and the best way to make money is by making your games for a wider audience.
nerdydesi (I do not play with toys AKA consoles) @ Feb 8th 2010 9:28PM
Yes, but look at games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age where the developer put a bit of effort to make it better fit on the PC, with more PC-centric interfaces and GUIs. Both camps are happy.
x2Jiggy @ Feb 8th 2010 9:01PM
As long as they follow the lead of the first game I'll be happy. The second was painful to play after the awesomeness of the original.

Bradwart @ Feb 8th 2010 9:05PM
Some PC games don't port well control-wise.
Anyone who's played Oni on the PS2...the only button it doesn't use is L3.
Reece @ Feb 9th 2010 4:10AM
That game was awesome
JC Denton @ Feb 9th 2010 7:56AM
get the hell out of here, Bradworst!
Rein @ Feb 8th 2010 9:11PM
They better not anim-ize Deus Ex or eff it up, or I'm going to turn into a filthy homophobic racist (this foreshadowing what I'm going to call them).
Rein @ Feb 8th 2010 9:20PM
Oh and can someone tell a noob how to change the password on Joystiq account if I can?

Click on your name, and you should see a "change password" button right under your avatar picture.
Hope this helps!

It'd be cool if DE3 played like ME2. *gets chased away by RPG nerds*
Faceman @ Feb 9th 2010 3:42AM
I'm sorry, this is Deus Ex we're talking about, not Dante's Inferno. It has its own unique gameplay and structure, thank you very much.
avan @ Feb 9th 2010 12:29AM
Too bad it wasnt Bioware
Reinhart @ Feb 9th 2010 3:10AM
Too bad it's Squire Enix
a company known to make J-style (turn-based/action-bar-thingy combat and all that other jazz) RPGs with anime graphics and next to nothing else.
You can slap me when it turns out to at least live up to the first Deus Ex game and retain the same style.
boing.inc @ Feb 9th 2010 8:32AM
@Reinhart
You can read the part where it says that Square Enix are responsible for the cinematics?
Eidos is handling the game bits as far as I know.
Faceman @ Feb 9th 2010 3:40AM
I've got high hopes for this. Invisible War is a pretty low bar to jump from so this should at least surpass that game with ease. I don't expect it to be as great as the original classic, but one sure can dream!
JC Denton @ Feb 9th 2010 7:50AM
My trademark has been augmented.
Reinhart @ Feb 10th 2010 2:54AM
Well I'm mainly concerned that they'd get the Japan branch to do it, and if they do it, they're more likely to do that stuff anime style (cause they don't know any other). I'm happy if Squire Enix Anywhere-the-eff-else does it.
Reinhart @ Feb 10th 2010 2:55AM
Friggin wrong reply.
