Madcatz was given one huge chance to turn their reputation around. From day one, it's been reported again and again that their arcade sticks have a good chance of dieing after just a few weeks use. Same Madcatz, same cheesy crud.

Now I am just annoyed with Capcom for propping up an otherwise dieing (rightfully so) company.

Hori ftw!

Really? Is that why they have been around since 1989? Is that why the likes of Capcom, Infinity Ward, and Fender have teamed up with them for peripherals? Is that why their FightSticks and FightPads ran out of pre-order, and back ordered until April? Yeah, must be a shitty company...

It's more like there's no one else left. Pelican has pretty well left the market.

There really hasn't ever been a third party peripheral company that has topped or even equaled first party.

I second that... Hori FTMFW!!. But I too can give credit where credit is due.... MadCatz have gotten leagues better than they where before, but to present day (the T.E sticks aside..mostly) the brand is still not up to par. The Hori brand has proven quality and professional craftmanship when it comes out making a top of the line arcade controller (the best you can buy from a brick and mortar store). MadCatz T.E sticks are riding off of the glory of official sanwa parts, but are still hindered by the madcatz craptacular PCB. But I see it all changing (as it is right now) ..as more big name companies team up with MC, they will make sure the brand steps up...if only for their own name sake.

Glad I bought the MvC2 joystick for the 360 and it was broken right out of the box.

Something is wrong with the USB cord cause it doesn't power on at all. I called the Gamestop where I bought it and they have another stick in stock. I'll be able to pick it up in a couple of days.

Mad Catz is crap, unless they've just rebadged Hori parts like in the TE sticks.

Not everything they make is good. But they sure as hell are better than GameStop brand hardware.

But the fight stick is a very dependable product. They use high quality hardware parts, and the parts can be interchanged for if something breaks or if you prefer different things. For example, the stick my friend bought came with a square fitting for the stick, and he changed it to an octagonal fitting.

As for trusting friends over people on the Internet, that's up to you. I just wouldn't trust that guy.

Well, I've actually only used a few madcatz products. The first one was a controller and the D-pad was loose, it was too light, and felt cheaply made.

Then I bought a Madcatz Bluetooth headset (Before the official Sony one was out), it took forever to sync, it didn't stay on my ear right because the speaker is virtually flat (As in it doesn't stick out to go it the ear), and after about a year of use the battery life is about 5 minutes.

Many of the people who talk about how much MadCatz sucks are talking about products that they made 5-15 years ago, and not those made this generation.

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Fender-Stratocaster-Replica/dp/B002N42SDS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1265758965&sr=8-1

That's the best mass-market Rock Band guitar money can buy, and it's made by MadCatz. Well, technically Fender, but MadCatz is the company that put the money behind it.

As strange as it seems, they make some very high-quality accessories these days.

Pretty much my point. Madcatz is the only game in town unless you import or know a lot of good online resellers. Just because Madcatz has last longer, doesn't mean anything. They are just "the skinniest kid in fat camp" for lack of a nicer way of saying it. They got lucky by having a semi-uneducated user base with money and a Capcom product tie-in. That doesn't usually happen that way.

There is nothing quite as good as the first party quality, and they still haven't come close. The only thing different from now and the 16 and 32 bit eras is the price on third party controllers have gone up while the quality has not. when I stop hearing regular reports of these arcade sticks failing, maybe I'll be more open minded about Madcatz products.

Do we really need another one? They're all the same anyway, just with different artwork. Why not make them with a removable transparent cover so we can print our own designs and slip them in. Like that do it yourself 360 faceplate kit

This one is slightly different, they removed that annoying bevel around the artwork, which is now pretty much flush with the edges. That's good enough for me, as the TE is arguably the nicest prefab stick on the market with that bevel being it's biggest caveat (and its square gate if you're a ninny, but that's easily modded).

Logitech doesn't really do very good (as in use-able/comfortable, not as in reliable) controllers. They are more in the business of headsets, audio gear, and the occasional racing wheel. Their gamepads kind of suck.

Now they're just milking it. Of course, this is Street Fighter, and milking has been in the program since 1992.

Am I missing the obvious or is there a deluge of fight sticks on the market? Why won't these schlocky marketeers get off their a**es and realise there's an untapped market for turbo buttons right now?

so the guy who said re-badged Hori... moron. they use Sanwa which is pretty much the top jap manufacturer of arcade parts other than Seimitsu.

the TE sticks are baller and comes with legit Sanwa, the new wii TvC stick is good for an SE version. Way better sanwa clones in it compared to the crappy sf4 SEs.

Can't vouch for their other stuff but the TE sticks are the best there for the price. There is a rep for Mad Catz who frequents the shoryuken forums and seems to be a big arcade player himself so they are constantly improving and listening to feedback on that side of things. Most tourny players are using mad catz stuff now too... very different from the mad catz of the 90s

I have had nothing but horrible experiences with Mad Catz products. Because of them, I now refuse to buy anything but official peripherals made by the console manufacturer themselves.

If you go to a Street Fighter 4 tournament, you'll see a madcatz stick under nearly everyones arm. Even the top players are using them. Madcatz actually found a member of the fighting game scene that's been building and collecting sticks for years to design them. That's where stuff like the start/select buttons being on the front and the lock switch come from. Those are like that because hori sticks are infamous for accidental pauses during matches with start/select right above the buttons. It's designed smart.

New stuff on the SSF4 TE are the sides, a newly designed PCB, no more bezel, and the lock switch locks out start and select(current sticks it just locks out the home and turbo buttons).

I don't use Joysticks, just never has been my style.
I purchased that Street Fighter IV fightpad by Madcatz awhile back,
still works excellent for me.
