In a fairly recent Custom PC article (UK tech magazine), they did an extensive interview with several developers, including someone from Visceral on Dead Space and how they firmly wanted to make a solid cross-platform game etc, so I don't know what has happened. He certainly sounded like it was good, not a pain or anything.

They're probably just doing an Assassin Creed and holding out to make it a good port and shove in all the DLC for free.

@ That Guy

I KNOW RIGHT!

I have a PS3 and PC, I may as well shove a stick up my arse to save publishers the hassle.

Dead space didn't really sell very well on any platform though. I'm sure it broke a million but I remember initial sales being grim.
I'd rather play this on my pc as I have 5.1 speakers for it vs my TV speakers for PS3.

That Guy,

"great more news for pc gamers to cry and moan about"

Considering console kiddies will often go absolutely ballistic if a highly anticipated title 1) becomes a multiplatform release after being announced as a system exclusive, 2) becomes a system exclusive after originally being announced as a multiplat title, and/or 3) DLC is exclusive to only one console version, you and your kin aren't really in any position to pass judgment on us, now are you?

It's pretty obvious that the 'that guy' posting above me is not the That Guy who used to be on here, since he loved the PC.

Just another troll account.

Well there have been complaints on the forums, like Steam Forums, where people are complaining about mouse lag. Vsync causing the problem, etc.

I'm personally loving it. It's just a shame if this is true.

Wow, guess i should buy the first one for my PC with the next steam deal.

Whoever said this is proof PC gaming is dying, no no no man.

Almost every new game announced is Xbox, PS3 and PC. Almost EVERY one. By that standard, it is the wii that is dying.

Truth is, everyone knows PC is not where the cash is at, but it is still a viable market, and with the proper attention, it can be a decent money maker.

yea, i don't get the whole PC dying thing.

to be quite frank, it was never as popular as the consoles are now to begin with.

If anything, it's just as strong or stronger than it ever was, just not nearly as popular as the consoles, nor will it ever be.

PC gaming is not dead. I bought 150 games for it in the last 6 months. I guess I shouldn't have bought Dead Space though. It's funny how they sold it to us while announcing a 2nd game and then just announce it will never be released on my platform.

That is extremely possible. Steam deals, not to mention the ability to play ANYTHING ever made in the last 10 years means it doesn't have to consist of the latest stuff can make a list of games you want to play really pile up. This is in addition to many new releases every month, many which will never go to consoles just because of its development process.

I have phases between PC, consoles and portables, but it is the PC that always keeps me the happiest. Mass effect 2 just came out, and Assassin's Creed is around the corner, and I do not have any time for those, i'm still trying to finish a lot of other stuff. Every week there could be a new steam deal and DAMN, thats another game.

Yeah man, it costs a lot to keep up, but if that is the biggest criticism (like the ps3) whoopdeedoo. Cost is a bitch but worth it in my opinion.

jackal , the guy is trolling you and you just spit back the same b.s. he is. So, all of us with consoles are "console kiddies" who are kin to him? Because we own consoles. Hate to break it to you, but I am betting most of us that own consoles own pc's as well. So, how exactly are you better than us for being anti-console?

Well not that I really care since I'm still pushing my EA boycott going on some 6 years now but If I was to resend on said boycott (which I'm mulling over seriously) I would most likely have picked it up for the PC.

Why they wouldn't release it for the PC is beyond me probably because of all the shit they would catch from the PC crowd being pissed off about the DRM they crammed into the game (and rightfully so).... but when push comes to shove the 360 is just a stripped down/streamlined mid level gaming PC ..... So the effort they would have to put into a PC SKU would be minimal at best. Its even plagued by the glitches bugs (see "ship now fix later") exploits and patches that drove most PC users to consoles in the first place ~.~

I don't know about you guys but I've seen more people pirate console games than PC games.
R4 anyone? I'm honestly surprised DS games even make money.

And there's emulators, the PSP in general, mod chips for consoles, jailbreaking iPhones, etc etc.

Judging by what I've seen, I'd have to say portable gaming is the most pirated platform; and based on peoples (wrong) assumption that pirating kills platforms; they should be completely dead, instead of the most healthy.

The point I'm getting at is pirates aren't what's "killing" PC gaming. They exist on every platform, and they still manage to make shit tons of money. I don't even think the PC market is being in all that much danger at all. Only thing I'm worried about is DRM.

People really need to stop thinking of pirates as lost sales. Considering the majority of pirates are teenagers with no income (lolAssumptions); it's not like they get any money from them anyway.

Duke,

"So, all of us with consoles are "console kiddies" who are kin to him?" I didn't say that, now did I? Console kiddies have absolutely no appreciation, understanding, or respect for gaming when it extends beyond their own narrow scope of the hobby. Console kiddies incessantly and venomously attack their PC centric counterparts whenever something occurs to negatively effect the experience of the latter and they're the ones who fight the most hateful console specific flamewars I've ever seen. These were the people laying into PC gamers for expressing their extreme displeasure with how Infinity Ward treated its MW2 PC audience before and after the game was released. These are the people who excitedly anticipate the destruction of our platform and take every opportune moment to remind us of this. If a PC game is released with an incredibly draconian DRM scheme, console kiddies are the one who make it known on this and every other forum that they enjoy seeing our discomfort. If a PC game loses a feature or is crippled, they applaud the publisher and tell us how we deserve so much worse. They call us money burning fools when they will, in the same breath, spend $50 for a glorified matchmaking hub, spend up to $200 for an HDD that costs less than $35 to manufacture and package, spend $10 (or $20, as is the case for most game in Canada) more per title, and spend anywhere between $7-$25 for "content" they should be getting for free (think Crash Course).

There's a massive difference between a console kiddie and a gamer who also owns/prefers consoles, Duke. You and most of the people who frequent this site don't match any of the descriptions I've listed above and can't legitimately be compared to Sprinkles or 65% of Tmac (he's able to make valid points every now and then), so I'm not quite seeing why what I've said has offended you.

I never got past the asteroid turret part on the 360 version. I just can't aim with the analog sticks quick enough. On the PC version I beat the game with no problems.

I probably won't be picking up DS2 until a PC version comes out. I enjoyed the original much more on the PC.

I used to be a big time P.C. gamer. Its reached the point where pirates have destroyed P.C. games. Publishers aren't willing to spend money on these games when they are pirated by the vast majority of the people who play them. If only people were civil to each other.

Well, I guess I won't be getting Dead Space 2 then regardless of it being good or not.

Even though the first one had an issue with mouse lag, it was playable enough for me to not put me off. Which I can't say for having to play it with dual analog sticks. Not that I own a platform I could get it on anyway if they ditch PC for real.
