Strategic war game buffs, take note: All of the Total War titles on Steam are receiving a massive discount this week, to the tune of a whopping 66 percent off. In fact, you can pick up the Total War Mega Pack, which includes Medieval II: Total War, Rome: Total War -- including the Alexander and Kingdoms expansions -- and Empire: Total War for $20.39. Additionally, the Empire: Total War Downloadable Content Pack, containing all the Empire content released thus far, is available for 10 percent off at $16.19.
Incidentally -- but probably not coincidentally -- the latest game in the series, Napoleon: Total War, releases February 23.

Maybe if you read the article, you could figure out the game hasn't even released yet...

Well, in that case. Yes, it will be discounted. I personally guarantee you'll find a great discounted copy if you just wait about 3 years.

Steam doesn't include pre-released games into these sales. Anyone who already pre-ordered the game can simply refund their purchase (steam allows you to do this on pre-orders) and re-buy it at the lower price.

Thanks, but still overpriced, IMO. XBL Gold should be free.
Microsoft is essentially charging for what PSN (on the PS3) and Steam (on the PC) provide for no subscription fees. I would be willing to bet money that Microsoft would charge for GFWL if they could get away with it.

MTWII and RTW have an active mod community - Empire Total War is a lot newer and difficult to mod, I hear. If the Steam versions work with mods it's worth checking out what's on offer.
