I'm convinced that (insert gaming platform name) fan boys exist only as an abstract concept for troll bait.
Any argument containing a fan boy comment is instantly invalid. It's like the Godwin's law of the gaming forum.

And thus, just because of Activision's disturbingly idiotic ideas, I will not be buying any kind of Call of Duty game this year. These pricks can go pull that on Xbox Fanboys, but surely won't on me.

Is your stupidity really necessary? I'll actually be able to live with myself knowing I won't pay these farging pricks for a some idiotic service. Are you implying that you justify this garbage?

Let me clarify: What is always on the top of multiplayer charts? MW2. What do you hear when playing a match? Raging idiots. What would they do if I were to disrespect Microsoft because I said they were ripping me off? In most cases, maybe I'm stereotypical, they would go ballistic. Thus, the Xbox Fanboy comment. I LOVE my Xbox by the way, just can't stand the fanboys that would surely buy into this.

um, FYI, PS3 COD players would do the same thing. and a decent number of PC players. singling out xbox owners isn't cool.

Wow...just wow...are there no such things as EXAMPLES anymore. I was merely using Xbox Fanboys as an example, OK? I'll admit I shouldn't have singled them out, but you have to be honest with yourself that Xbox Fanboys would be a large source of money for Activision. JUST SAYING. Judging by the multiplayer #s, COD seems to be extremely popular online, and judging from my own experiences, raging fanboys seem to own all of the matches. FROM MY EXPERIENCE.

@Shadowbender

And you think there aren't jackasses on PSN as well?

Every online community has its share of irritating people, not just XBL..

I'm not sure exactly what your point even was but you shouldn't single out XBL just because you don't like people or.. something.

Poor Poor 360 Owners. Have to pay their monthly fee for their general internet, then Xbox Live costs, then buy the game, then maybe now pay activision a monthly fee to play it? LOL! The Xbox 360 is going to be known as the "rich-mans console".

@ Everyone who replied to this thread:

Thanks to all who tried to set this guy right and for the laughs! This is one of the top 10 dumbest threads up to this point that I have read on Joystiq. Life is pretty simple, if you don't like something don't buy it. Don't start a thread bashing people who have nothing to do with anything that might be done.

They need to wait until they run the franchise into the ground like they did with Guitar Hero. THEN they can charge a monthly fee.

I'm very proud of myself, I haven't bought an Activision game since Guitar Hero World Tour, and I'm planning on keeping it that way. I don't really care what they'll put out and how much they'll charge for it, cause i'm not buying it anyway, and if it's a game that's really good, I'll probably get it from a bargain bin at some point.

I have two Activision games.
Vigilante 8 2nd Offense, and Star Craft.
So actually one and a half, since Blizzard wasn't part of Activision back then, but is now (So I'm guessing some part of the money spent today on buying Star Craft goes to Activision.)
We'll see about Star Craft II. I'll wait until all of it's "features" are unveiled. Mr. Kotick's presence makes me fear for the worse, but if that ever happens: so be it. No Star Craft II.

Is GH:WT better than Rock Band? I remember on the Joystiq Podcast they were saying that the game was much more user friendly, letting you drop out mid-song, change difficulty on the fly, etc., and I might get one of them eventually, but I don't know which.

it's much easier, but i wouldn't necessarily say better. in terms of the songs on the WT and RB2 discs, i prefer WT, but RB2 has so much more potential for a fantastic library of songs. and honestly, GH5 is better than WT.

@Darkdrium777

Considering Blizzard was owned by Vivendi Universal and they have the 52% controlling share of the merged company you still only technically own 1 Activision game.

Besides the only way I believe they would be able to make it subscription based is to have a huge battle area of lets say '256' players, make sure it has a faction system like WoW but with maybe '3' of them, and also have a very customizable 'talent tree' to make your char exactly the way you want.

But, a game like that would be MAGnificent if it was free anyway .... wouldn't it?

eff that. i've put a LOT of hours into MW2, but i'm not interested in a subscription service. with something like an MMO it's more justified......there's a lot of things to do, an expansive world where you've never really done it all. unless they really ramp up the amount of maps/game types and get creative with some other innovations, there's no way i'd even consider this.

I wouldn't pay. Simple as that.

As a PS3 user, and not a PC MMORPG guy, monthly fees are foreign to me.

No offense to the people who do pay monthly fees though

Nope, not paying a subscription to play Call of Duty online. I pay Activision a good percentage of my income every year already.

Then again, a new CoD title every year is essentially a subscription fee, and they can save a ton of money on developing a new title every year. I might go for it if they kept the price under what I would otherwise end up paying for the latest CoD year after year.

Of course, the javelin thing is bound to pop up again, this time it will be with 5,000 people on any given server.

Why does everybody in the industry seem to be shoving their foot in their mouths lately?

Squeenix is whining about how hard it is to.. make a town,

Ubisoft thinks we want quantity over quality,

and now Kotick is just staring us all dead in the face and saying "I WANT YOUR MONEY, GIVE ME MORE OF YOUR MONEY"

Well I haven't even liked COD since 2 so sorry Bobby, your enticing offer of paying extra to play MW2 doesn't make me any more apt to change my mind..

Next, Activision will buy exclusive rights to every world war, Vietnam, Korea, and the Middle East, forcing competitors to use no-name armies and countries. Sega as a result has to re-name their new FPS to All Pro Combat 2K10. EA then buys exclusive rights to riot police and announces FIFA Bobbys vs Hooligans 10.
