GH5 was really good. GH Van Halen was awful.

I just don't see myself buying any more games in this genre. Like Texas Hold'em, this fad has run its course with most of my demographic (males, 18-30).

GH5, good? Aesthetically and functionally I agree. Setlist wise I wholeheartedly disagree. If they get the kind of DLC support Rock Band has we'll see but for now, not so much.

The PS2 is disappearing rapidly, and I'm not sure why. Consoles are out of stock on Amazon, Target.com, Walmart.com, and Best Buy.com

Considering the PS2 sold 300k+ consoles in December, and Sony has committed to push the PS2 past the 10 year limit, it seems odd...

As much as I loved my PS2 (and if the controller didn't break on me, I'd love it even more) I think it's time to lay the beast to rest. Rather than send it out with a bang, let it retire to the quiet dignified life. Let it slowly fade away until it is but a faint memory, a warm feeling you remember during the holidays, or something special that you just can't bear to throw away.

Goodbye and farewell, PS2.

Yeah, I got mine like maybe 8-9 months before they dropped from $300.

It doesn't play all the DVDs I bought, and sometimes it takes a little longer than it used to when it first loads the disc, but the damn thing still runs strong.

I got the MGS4 80GB PS3 with software backwards compatibility, so I don't miss my old baby too much.

You can have it if you're willing to pay shipping. I mean it's either that or I trade it in for credit at Gamestop, in which case I probably won't even get much, if any, since it's an older one.

Boo! I enjoyed a new game every couple of months. Getting only one per year makes it annoying! I bought GH:M, GH:5, and BH and enjoyed them all cause they were spaced out right. I would hate to go back to one game per year routine when these games can get boring when all you get is bad DLC.

It just seems odd, seeing as at E3 Tretton said they were going past the 10 year lifecycle.

If they do kill it, I hope we get software BC.

I remember reading somewhere that there was code for a PS2 emulator contained in recent PS3 firmwares and that Sony is rumored to be waiting until the end of this year to cut support for the PS2 and enable software BC.

Activision severely cutting music game releases in 2011

Since they released 50 new music games this year, they aim to release less this year

less music games, will that mean they will have the money and resources available to put some decent music into the setlists/DLC, they're off to a good start with black sabbath

They should just focus on DLC for now. I spent about the same amount that RB2 cost on DL songs. I know the fad is well fading but its a good party game thats it and yearly if not 2 release's a year is not warrented at all, and just kills the market. If anything may just track packs that you can just download onto your HD? Be it groups or just more recent popular songs? Sell the packs at a decent cost $30 or so and wham easy casual gamer purchase from one that owns the game but hasnt played it in awhile.

Great decision. The Guitar Hero series has started to get on the up since the horrible Guitar Hero 3, and DJ Hero was a fantastic game that I've sunk many hours into, and plan to keep doing so. If they focused on a quality-over-quantity approach with 2010, then Guitar Hero 6 will be great, and DJ Hero 2 will be fantastic.
