Hmm, seems a little soon.

But.. it's Sucker Punch. I trust them to put out a quality game.

They certainly didn't let me down with the first one.

Agreed on both accounts. And while I doubt a new InFamous is headed to us this year, I won't deny it either.

It's time to see if Sucker Punch goes the Insomniac route (making one really good game each year) or the Naughty Dog route (spending two years to make a GOTY-quality game)

the thought of infamous getting a sequel so soon, is ELECTRIFYING to say the least, the BUZZ generated from the first one should give a CHARGE to sales for the second one.

Want. Infamous. Sequel.

Of course I want them to polish and pour as much substance into the game as they can, but I'd LOVE a second game this year.

I would think the framework is already there, so all they would have to do is fix the game ending gltiches and add a few more powers, villians, locations, etc...and they should be good to go. That said I don't want them rushing, inFAMOUS was a good game but getting stuck in walls and falling thru buildings sucked ass. I say they should take their time and perfect it....I can wait til 2011 if need be

I don't see it coming before 2011 though.

"getting stuck in walls and falling thru buildings sucked ass"

That never happened to me. One time, however, I did watch an enemy flying (more like swimming in the air) and inFamous still remains the game that froze on me the most (4 times).

And by the by, yesterday AC2 froze on me for the first time since I got it 2 weeks ago.

Spoilers~

Which makes me question how they're going to handle Cole's powers. If they reset them the story wouldn't make sense since it was all meant to train Cole morally and physically to be able handle the coming apocalypse. But if they don't reset his powers he'll be too strong, at the end of the game he's practically a god.

* - - More SPOILERS - - *

A reset in powers would be a bit strange though, considering the whole first game was his future-selfs way of preparing himself for the battle with the destroyer of the world.

But you certainly have a point. Anything more powerful than the Lighting Strike ability you gain late in the game will be overkill.

Well, they could also go the Spiderman 2 route: Hero loses self confidence and his powers along with it. The more the story progresses, the more powers he gets back, maybe with a few new ones.

Or they could also go the Ratchet and Clank route, leave the basic powers intact and eliminate the useless ones and come back with a bat shit new load of superpowers.

Or God of War 2, where a new nemesis steals them away, and he recuperates them by killing bosses.

There's many ways to fill the gaps.

My guess is that you won't loose your powers at the beginning of the game. Future Cole / Kessler had a ton of powers during the final fight. Those alone Cole will have to learn at some point. The time traveling one, in particular, sounds interesting. Imagine everything "rewinding" (people, cars, etc) around you. Of course, this would have to drain you completely or have some serious effect on your morality (maybe you can alter certain time events but your morality shifts?). The point of all of this is that, while Cole is powerful, the enemy hinted at the end is supposedly even more powerful. His minions, Moya's agents, etc, can balance the game by being more powerful or greater in number, and the powers can be tweaked by draining even a bit more juice from Cole.

An alternative to all of that could be that you keep your powers but they are weakened. After all Cole got those powers artificially. There could be side effects in the months after his initial fight. Finally, Cole's most powerful power can only be used outdoors or without any ceiling above his head. Who says we won't have more interior spaces?

I am more intrigued about the morality system. Will you be able to used your Infamous 1 saved files and start good/evil, picking up where you left off? Or will you be reseted to a neutral state? I just hope that there are a ton more choices in the style of ---SPOILER ALERT--- "save Trish or the Doctors".

You couldn't just let the fight with the "Beast" be let to the imagination?

It's like the same people saying there needs to be a sequel to District 9. What ever happened to having a whole experience and leaving the end up to wonder?

I agree with this MattyMc but you get that with any sandbox type of game. There is always a certain level of repetitiveness that will eventually begin to piss you off, it's just the nature of a sandbox.

As for the sequel, YES PLZ. I loved the first game and easily put 50-70 hours doing most everything in it.

There are also some rumors that Killzone 3 might also make 2010 alongside Resistance 3. Did all studios working for Sony suddenly learn how to develop efficiently and if so can they give some tips to Polyphony?

Killzone 3 in 2010? I don't believe it!

Most of their development issues had to do with optimizing for the PS3's architecture. Now that the engines are built, they can speed things up.

Naughty Dog's tools probably help as well.

Apparently some hackers found out that killzone3.com, which currently redirects you to the Sony site, will go online on October 8th. You know how Sony is incapable of keeping a secret. Doesn't prove the game will make 2010, but still.
