While the big fellas struggle to figure out how to make digitally distributed content profitable, smaller dev houses like RedLynx are handily succeeding. The Trials HD developer claims to have moved 1.5 million digital units worldwide (of all of its games) in 2009, though, as RedLynx itself points out, "most RedLynx games have also free promotional web versions available, bringing the company's key titles to an even wider audience."
Aside from putting out the Summer of Arcade XBLA release Trials HD last year, the Finnish company also made Monster Trucks Nitro on PC and a couple of iPhone games, assuredly assisting that 1.5 million statistic. CEO Tero Virtala looks forward to the coming year, saying things look "even better," and adding that RedLynx is "bringing 8-10 new games to market." We really, really hope the company brings more copies than that if it wants to move past 2009's sales. Come on, guys -- simple math!

Well, I'm pretty sure making quality games had something to do with that as well, instead of shovel-ware titles, or crappy, over-hyped sequels!

another big example that companies can make money on the p.c. instead of wasting time and money with stupid and draconian copy protections, did you hear ubi soft?

Trials HD was for 360. The PC DRM issue is pretty irrelevant.

Trials 2 came before Trials HD and, as the article states, Monster Trucks Nitro released on the PC.

that was my point, and it´s not irrelevant because we pc user have to hear companies like ubi soft, crying about their games and saying that piracy is the only one to blame because their games don´t sell well, even though many of those games are nothing but averange, and as a result we get the new copy protection of ubi where i´ll have to have my saved games in their servers. On the other hand this guys are making money don´t complain and more important don´t destroy their users with this kind of copy protections, i think this is very rellelevant to show that even though piracy is a problem, it´s not the biggest problem with a game sales, sometimes it could be some other factors like .. oh i don´t know, probably because the game sucked??

You should, regardless of guilt, purely for the fact that it's a good solid game with a lot of replay value.

The demo was so addicting I had to buy it.
100% on Beginner Easy and Medium, 75% on Hard, 12.5% on Expert (beat my first track yesterday after not playing Trials for months!)
I need to get some cash and buy the DLC
