I was thinking about waiting for a price drop, being strapped for cash and all, but playing the demo made my anticipation even worse. Now I HAVE to get this day one.

Awesome review.
Was worried it would be like a dumb blonde. Pretty looking but nothing to it. Glad to see otherwise.
Definitely want to play.

Anyone else think the guy looks like he's about to do a facepalm?

Ah damn it! I wasn't gonna buy it, didn't think it's my kind of game. But after reading this review and Kotaku's review, it's exactly my kind of game. Just pre-ordered from Amazon, they have a pre-order special where you get free DLC.

So many good games, so little time, more importantly; so little money. Already have GoW 3 on pre-order, having real hard time avoiding MAG, still enjoying Demons Souls, still want Mass Effect 2. At least Bioshock 2 is getting average reviews, so I can probably resist it.

It seems they improve upon their previous effort (indigo prophecy) with this game in a big way. Now it seems i can't wait to get to try this game out myself. It still makes me wonder what they could have done if the playstation motion controller was out. Would it made a difference?

This is definitely a rental for me as I did enjoy INDIGO PROPHECY.......

While I respect the company....I hope they have evolved the "gameplay" to something beyond Quick Time Events......

There have been reports that you can literally not touch the controller and the "game" will play itself.

Then again....many generations never got to enjoy DRAGON's LAIR or SPACE ACE...

Funny...I played the demo and nothing ever happened until I actually picked up the controller and started *gasp* PLAYING...

Maybe their discs are broken?...

So, the question is, does the game suffer the same Indigo Prophecy Syndrome? Will I hadoken the internet, again?

Why does everyone keep comparing the writing to Mass Effect 2? Just because it is fresh in their minds?

Randy, you never explained what the game is actually about. And I would have liked to see some examples of these difficult choices you had to make.

I may have to get this game on day one, simply because I want to support the company's fresh thinking, and I know it probably won't sell a million copies.

I think the marketing has been strong enough, but a lot of people are confused about how this game plays out. So you may have a point there.

The demo was just awful. The voice acting borders between painful and hilarious. There is nothing groundbreaking about this game, as it's just a series of QTEs linked together. Dragon's Lair did this nearly 30 years ago.

If this game manages to capture the potential and high points of Indigo Prophecy, but avoid it's flaws and frustrations then it sould be pretty awesome.

IP had to be one of the most disappointing games I played, because it had so many great ideas, but made so many mistakes as well.

I was very impressed with the demo. At first I didn't really see the appeal but as I kept playing I didn't want to stop. I will be picking this one up - or at least renting it.

Great write up, and your right about not wanting to put the controller down. I bought this yesterday (UK Release) at 6pm. Got it home and started it up at 6.30PM, and I didn't go to bed until 5.30AM (Until I had completed it).

I've got my brother coming round today to play it, so I will get to see some of the alternate ways scenes can play out! :)

Heavy Rain is one of the best experiences on the ps3 I am glad it's a possible contender for goty if it does not win that that's fine because there are a lot of other catergories it would benefit from anyway maybe aias will pick this up at 14th annual.
