3D Dot Game Heroes coming to Europe May 14, playable at Midlands MCM Expo

It seems SouthPeak's taking its recently acquired role as European publisher for 3D Dot Game Heroes pretty seriously -- according to a recent press release, the company will release the PAL version of the bizarre action-RPG on May 14, just a few days after North America gets its hands on the game.

In addtion, attendees of the Midlands MCM Expo, held February 20 in the heart of Shropshire, England, will be able to get their first hands-on time with the game. We'd book our flight to the event post-haste -- if we only knew how to speak Shropshirian.

3D Dot Heroes is among my most anticipated games of the year.

I never actually beat the first Zelda, so I feel like I have something to prove.

Hate to say this... but this isn't Zelda... I know. It's hard. But you'll accept it soon enough.

I never beat it either, but you don't see me going around swinging my "sword" like I'm Mr. Bigshot. Some of us are perfectly comfortable with the status of our "sword" and the fact that we never beat it... I mean the original Zelda, that we never beat the original Zelda...

Boy I can't wait for this game! It's totally not a Zelda ripoff, unlike that freakin Dante's Inferno! I mean it has light AND heavy attacks you use in tandem to create combos! Jeez dudes be a little bit more subtle about the thievery!

He has a point. This game isn't anymore of a ripoff of Zelda as Dante is a ripoff of God of War. Yet people are getting stupidly excited over this while, at the same time, getting massively butthurt about DI.

Plus 3D Dot Game Heroes doesn't even look that good.

no my point is this is an incredibly blatant ripoff while the claims of dantes inferno being a ripoff are mostly absurd.

There must be at least a million better ways of putting it than how you did.

How are claims that DI is a GoW rip off absurd? It's obviosly what it is. It's the second biggest rip next to that heroes of Sparta game for iPhone.

aside from opening chests, right-stick evading, and maybe the wall climbing, nothing in dante's inferno was invented by god of war

boy the redemption mode sure is like power of the gods! or devil trigger or any "rage mode" in basically any action game ever.

seriously if you judge the game on its own merits its actually good, sorry people are too blind due to their ill-conceived notions of its "ripoff" status

meanwhile, this game is pretty much exactly like zelda (and no other game) in every single way but i guess since its retro-styled it's an "homage"? good to know, i'm gonna do a shot-for-shot remake of casablanca then claim its my own because its in black and white

If you disagree that's fine, everyone has a right to their opinion and a right to state it, but you should also be mature enough to state your opinion without using rude sarcasm when it's uncalled for.

You could have easily just said, "This is to Zelda what Dante's Inferno is to GoW, and that is in no way a bad thing." Instead you've gone off on some rant making it sound like you hate this game simply because it reminds you of a 20+ year old game that obviously inspired it.

There is a peaceful way to state your opinion, and then there is the way you chose to do it. Ditch the sarcasm and maybe people won't react so negatively. That's just a thought though, so take it as you will...

and the loading screens for other games ( one i know of is Castlevania ) and it shows many other game resemblence in the screen.

I seriously think 3D Dot Game Heros as a Tribute to the old Zelda game and alot of people who are Original Zelda fans may find it a rip off but i look at it as paying tribute and i think that's what the other should look at it as really.

Dantes inferno doesn't pay any kinda tribute i just look at it copying GoW gameplay elements and running their own game. but if it wasn't for games copying other games we wouldn't have no where too the amount of video games today wouldn't we not ?

Jesus, not every gane has to be original to be good. Plus, the Zelda similarities are from 20 years ago. This game looks nothing like the newer zeldas. Dante's Inferno is a game that is almost identical to a series that is current. Like, DI will be a lot like GoW3, which are released in the same year. Considering the game(S) that 3DDGH is emulating are 20 years old, I think it can be considered an homage.

Anyway, just stfu.
