Alan Wake Limited Collector's Edition spotted on retailer sites with May 25 date [update]

Retailers have started listing a Limited Collector's Edition of Alan Wake, possibly in advance of an official announcement later today at Microsoft's X10 event. Both Best Buy and Wal-Mart have listings for the item, with an $80 price tag and a May 25 release date.

Wal-Mart's listing actually includes the image seen here, and details the contents of the set: a linen case "designed to resemble a hardcover book" (is this game a book or a TV show?), a 144-page book with a story written by Alan Wake and FBI dossiers included, a soundtrack disc, a token for the first DLC pack, and a disc with an Xbox Live theme and avatar.

Update: Microsoft has officially dated Alan Wake for release on May 18 and confirmed the Limited Collector's Edition.

Of course I know that! I was just saying that's about the least appealing avatar costume ever. I mean, Halo Waypoint has the ODST outfit for free, you can pay for the marine one, War from Darksiders, ezio and altair, and this one would make you look like a northwest horror writer?

... I hardly think the outfit is the highlight of the bonuses :/

Destructoid doesn't have much of a community, Kotaku has issues...there's not a lot. I've been looking at leaving for a while. Not the same without all the people we've lost.

It's not as bad as it was a couple of weeks ago when everybody was screaming "Why did I get banned and such and such didn't" that was a Joystiq all time low point.

Tracer, almost comes off as "hey where else can I go that's better?" :P Not a conversation I'll get into here, maybe I'll drop you a line on PSN.

Well, first Joystiq banned me for arguing with that...troll. Then they banned me for telling someone he was an idiot for threatening to sell his PS3 and buy a 360 just because they might have a premium tier PSN level.

It was around the time they just started banning everyone.

What happened to tmac?
It looks like I wasn't around to see any of these arguments because from what I remember he was just an average poster. Then he was gone.

I'm tmac's little brother, been reading for over a year now and have seen just about everything. I know in the recent events I had to hear him complaining about Joystiq and their editors "going off the deep end" (his words not mine). Even though he was somewhat exaggerating it didn't seem like he was far from the truth.

Basically, he kept getting banned and/or having his comments deleted even when he did nothing wrong while several trolls/fanboys who started problems got off easy. People like Wiizer, that johnny5 guy or w/e. I don't usually buy the bias crap, but they do seem to let all the pro-sony trolls get off all the time. This is coming from someone who usually just watches from the background, and not participating in all the BS my bro created.

I'm not tmac. I only commented because people were asking about him and he will not come back to this site at all, let alone make a new account just to defend himself. You can ask him yourself on psn/live if you're on his list.

Anyway, I'm going back to just reading this site. I like it much better that way instead of getting caught up in all the BS here.
