PSP Go has entered the "almost worth it" zone. While we're enamored with the system's smaller design, it's hard to ignore that it plays far less games than the PSP-3000 and costs much more.
Thankfully, online retailer amazon.com has discounted the white handheld to $209.99 -- $40 off the standard MSRP. At this price, the PSP Go costs approximately the same as a PSP-3000 and a 16GB Memory Stick. Considering Amazon's hefty cut, we wonder: will Sony announce an official price drop of the PSP Go some time soon?

as someone with a healthy library of UMD games, i think the PSPgo is still worthless.

yeah, it's really easy to hate the PSPgo.
it's not a meritless device, but it's not worth the price tag. especially if you already have a PSP 1000, 2000, or 3000.

I might add its also pointless if EVER want full access to the complete list of psp system titles, as a decent number of the titles released before they started trying to cram "DIGITAL DOWNLOAD IS THE WAY OF THE FUTURE" down our thoughts, will never be released as such.
So if your a pocketless mutant strung out on ADD and sugar who doesn't care about access to all the PSP games or that its a shameless exercise in planned obsolescence, by all means, jump on it.

Personally, I really like the go and have wanted one since my 1000 left to meet its maker a few months back, but Its really hard to justify at that price and i would miss my back catalogue of games, to be sure. But fankly, as a college student, I never used my PSP a whole lot for games. I mean it played games very well, but it did music, internet, and so much more than if I had bought some other device. It was icing on the cake and thats who the go is for: people who use their PSP for multimedia AND THEN games, and this price is really rather enticing, although still $10 too high in my book.
That said, no matter what prices drop to I am waiting until after E3 to see what sony pulls. If they announce some new PSP iteration (as they always do) then It'll probably be better than the go, or at least drive the price of the go down a bit.

I love my Go! Best iteration of the PSP yet! The small size is absolutely worth the trade-off imo...

What's the price of a 16GB Memory Stick Duo? Here, I'll help: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Memory-Stick-Flash-MSMT16G/dp/B0013AX2HO
PSP = $199.99
MSDuo = $58.24
Total = $258.23
PSPGo = $249.99
Yup, such a rip off.

Yeah ..... but even if it was there is a slight flaw in the logic
The PsPGo needs that 16 gigs because you NEED to store the games on the system
The PsP 3k doesn't need the 16gigs because well it uses UMDs so it can easily get along with a 1-4gig stick for ~$10-20...... and I think the are around $170 these days.
So that sorta makes the for comparable memory its the same price or slightly more expensive argument moot, Simply because the 1k, 2K and 3K don't require that much memory to pull off running the games, storing the DLC and whatever misc Movie and Music files you toss at them.

No arguments are moot. If I had a normal PSP I would NEED 16GB because I don't want to be carrying a stack of UMDs around (with or without cases). Also, by installing the games on the system, I wouldn't NEED to use the slow optical drive, I could use the faster flash memory.
On top of that, if you fill up the 1GB card, then you need to get a second one... more bits to carry around...

why would you even consider buying another psp if you already have one? even if you needed one for whatever reason if you already have a psp that uses umd's why would you want a psp go? you wouldn't. so don't buy one. so don't complain about having to buy one, or being robbed by sony. that logic is just wrong.

supposing someone wanted to trade-in and upgrade, as opposed to buying something all new?

I would prefer the white one anyone. The pspgo is sexier in white. I have a black one only because there wasnt white ones available during christmas time.

Having or not a PSP, pspgo plain sucks. Only get stuffs by download? no thanks. Lucky my isp don't charge me for a Giga byte limit plan, besides that, the other versions still available.
