That was a good read. I personally really enjoy the game, as an a game design student, that was rather insightful. Really interested to see how they add to the game, with it being a "platform" and all.

Its a good game, unfortunately it has some inherent problems that it can't control...like the fact that so few PS3 owners have mics.

I wouldn't say they don't have mics but that they just don't use them all the time. I have a few mics and I only use them on MAG when I play a mode other than Supression. No need for mics in team death match game mode. How many people do you personally know with a blue tooth headset? Practically everyone I know IRL has one but they don't use them everyday. Probably a similar situation.

Yes I think most have mic's but don't use them. If no one else on my team is talking, then I put my mic on mute and turn up the radio.

I wouldn't say S.V.E.R is extremely over-powered. Lately I've found the other factions have gotten better. I got my ass handed to me by Raven, and then in the next match my team lost against Valor. I think it all depends on who's playing, though I will admit some sections of the maps are pretty easy to defend for us.

I'm guessing you are on SEVR right? I am not going to say that they are outright over powered but I played as them in the beta and had fun lost a few won a few. I now play as raven and yes they dont have the best ratio of mic'd up players but trying win against SEVR on their maps (Dom) is almost impossible even with the good teamwork and leadership and our map is a JOKE (Dom) our acquisition is pretty easy for us though I think

There are many factors other than it just being "SEVR is overpowered" but I do think that their maps give them a lil too much advantages for defence

I'm a Valor soldier and I can say that we have the worst map for sabotage. Both points A & B are on the ground while SVER and Raven are on the second floor, so what happens is that Raven and SVER soldiers stay up there camping and some times we can't even come close to the building. So, when Raven and SVER neutralize the stairs, they 'll win. Sometimes (1 in 6 games) we got the A & B from Raven and rarely got their C as well, but the time my team ever got A & B from SVER was on beta only once and we failed to secure C. With Valor, we lose A & B (defending) all the time, so with that in mind, we either have the worst team (Valor) or there's some balance map issues.

Even sometimes with those said frustrations, the game it's so freaking awesome, so addictive.

I think it just allows you to switch factions without losing your skill points and stats. If you delete your character you can change factions but you'll lose all your stats and skill points. I don't think you get to have two characters, for example, at the same time in separate factions just for reaching level 60. I bet they sell extra character slots before long for people who want multiple characters.

Um... so why do you think there's room for three profiles on the initial profile selection screen? Looks to me like once you hit 60, you keep your current character and get to start another one.

I am loving this game, and I'm exited to hear that they have numerous patches in the works. I do think SVER is overpowered (or rather, their maps are better for them), but I still have a blast attacking them, even if we lose 90% of the time. Some light balancing would be great.

Also they should prioritize people with mics for leadership positions. Battles are so much more engaging when you can here the OIC giving updates and recommending strategies, which are then carried out by platoon and squad leaders.

I was a little upset to find out that over half of Zipper is now comprised of people that never worked on a Socom title. It surprised me a little because MAG and Socom are two of the best examples of online cosole games that require more teamwork than skill. I guess that essence of teamwork will always be in Zippers blood no matter how many new devs join their team.

Also, I had mentioned this in a previous post, but I just wanted to let everyone know that if you're looking for a clan of mature players you should check us out. We are an 18+ PS3 clan that is always recruiting for all games. RIght now we are playing the heck out of MAG. So if you're interested check us out at http://aow.aowc.net

First off... I am loving MAG! A lot less run and gun than MW2. I use my mic to help my squad (or myself, of course) constantly. As I'm sure many have found, when you have a squad that works together... you win more often... or at least have a ball trying. That brings up my criticism of the game (maybe more like a wish list item); I'm 43 and have been gaming since lunar lander on a PET computer in the late 70's... on to Pong ( I don't remember who made that machine).... Atari2600... Commidore64... Atari400/800...ColecoVision... PC... PS1... PS2... XBOX360... PS3... I stray.. but my point is that none of my friends are gamers, so I am mostly solo, and the one thing that I would really love to see in this game is that when you start a game, your squad sticks together for subsequent games... you can leave if your squad sucks, but if you hit on a squad that really works well together you have the ability to get to know some of your members and perhaps seed a clan of (previously) strangers.

Acheron, actually there is a simple way to do this and it was how we built up our clan which has now fraction into two clans of really good players. I know the game itself doesn't account for it but every time you play round, when the round ends, if you go back to the PSN screen and under contacts select "players you met" or something to that affect...forgot the name, it will show you all of the characters you just played with from the last game usually starting with all of the ones from your specific squad. Add them as friends and when they accept add them to a group. As you meet better players, keep adding them as friends and when you strike up the game, all you have to do is look to see who is online and join their game. When their game is over ask them to start a group or asked to be invited into theirs. I seldom every play without 3 to 4 people I know these days! Hope that helps!

I agree with this 100%.

it really sucks to do well and have a great communicative squad but when the match ends you get put into a squad full of mouthbreathers.
