So what's the appropriate greeting for when you pass another survivor in the zombie apocalypse? We'll find out next month, when Valve plans to release the first Left 4 Dead 2 DLC campaign, "The Passing," on Xbox 360 and PC. The Passing will feature non-playable appearances by the original Left 4 Dead cast (those shadowy figures in the background there), who will aid L4D2's four survivors during the third act of the new campaign, which is set in rural Georgia.
Not one to leave holes in a good story, Valve will explain the original survivors' frantic journey to Georgia by way of -- yes, it's really happening -- a new DLC add-on for Left 4 Dead 1 (not compatible with L4D2). No additional details were provided about the upcoming L4D1 DLC by Valve at X10 today, but it will follow the release of The Passing campaign and a digital comic (illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming) that will tie together the two DLC stories.
Additionally, Valve confirmed that The Passing will also include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge modes, and a new co-op challenge mode. Players will also encounter a new "uncommon common" infected, dubbed the Fallen Survivor, which can drop random items when killed. The Passing is currently on track for a "late March" release.

so you have to pay for extra dlc to get the entire story?

You don't pay for Valve DLC. The only time they charged for DLC for the XBox was because Microsoft forced them.
None of the DLC for any of their other games has ever cost money for the pc.

A new L4D1 DLC sounds cool, but there's no way I'll get it until they fix the glitch in Crash Course.

False! Any L4D content is convertable to L4D2 with the right amount of tinkering.

Looks like a lot of flashlight usage. Augh. The flashlight is terrible, its like looking through a tube instead of it being an actual light source. They need an engine capable of dynamic ambient light before doing that.

Why is it that both games star a 3:1 ratio of guys to gals? IMO, L4D3 would do well to mix up that particular formula.

Am I the only one who think that looks like the worst poster ever? It looks like the photoshopped the faces onto different bodies, and they just ripped the old survivors, they didn't create new drawing sat all...

I hate when there's a comic to tie a story as to what happened previously or inbetween and/or what not. It's because I have no interest in reading it. I know there was one for Halo 2, but like i said, had no interest in reading it.

I can't really sympathize with paying for the DLC, since I have it on PC, but I am really disappointed with not getting to play the original 4. And didn't Valve say that 8-player co-op was coming with The Passing? Either way, very sad that I don't get to play Francis in Georgia.

Oh, I'm sure it'll be free on the PC and around 800MSP on the Xbox. Neither Valve nor Microsoft will admit to setting the price; both will claim it's what the other wants.

Francis and Nick get into a fight. Bill busts a cap in both of them to break it up.
Then spends the next hour healing themm with medikits.
Louis and Coach get drunk and make moves on Rochelle and Zoe;
who consider them to be the last men on earth and go with the flow.
Ellis reminises about old times with his friends ignoring all the action.

For some reason I don't think they will give new DLC to "Left 4 Dead". They Ignored Team Fortress 2 for the Xbox 360 with the whole DLC thing, I have a feeling they are gonna do the same with this situation. Forgive me for being pessimestic.

They didn't ignore TF2 for the XBox360.
They have said exactly why there isn't much DLC for the XBox360 version.
They want to complete all the updates before adding them.
They were already at the system's RAM limit for additions. They had to optimize it to fit into the system RAM.

They need to offer an option to legitimately import the L4D1 characters and maps in to L4D2's engine. Using the new infected, weapons etc. in the old settings with past characters would be awesome.
That is something I would almost pay for if we had to instead of these half-@ssed hacks that semi do the job.

Dunno why I was downvoted. Everytime PC gamers complain they are being treated unfairly, the console gamers here will slag on them for being whiny, elitist little bitches. And then they complain if the PC gets a free update and they are charged for it. I dislike hypocrisy.

I'm so relieved to hear we'll be aiding each other. I don't think I would have been able to kill bill, i would have just dropped my controller and let him kill me

two or three different dropping items is hardly an obsession. I cant think of anything besides the bile jars in L4D2

It will be interesting to see the relationships with the old/new characters!
But it had better not be soo predictable.. Like Rochelle & Zoey get along, Louis & Ellis, Coach & Francis (?) If we don't get to PLAY the characters the scenes should atleast be descent & lengthly since we have to pay..
Im confused though, is it being released for L4D1 like Crash Course? If it is does that means it'll probably only be the old weapons and probably worse graphics.. Wouldnt it be more successful L4D2 in that case?! (LOL just thought of Bill with a grenade launcher)
But I guess I should just be grateful they are releasing new content at all..
