Phantasmagoria is creep city, yikes. Remember an old worker telling me about it and then watching some youtube vids of it.

King's Quest V is my all time favorite adventure game. It took me forever to figure out how to get past the Yeti.

Is that the one where if you don't throw a rock at that cat in one scene, like 4 hrs later when u get thrown in the dungeon the cat you didn't kill eats the rat that has the key out of the dungeon and more or less breaks the game cause then you rot in jail?

Yes! Ugh I hated that part! You're supposed to through a boot at the cat which is chasing the rat in front of the bakery. If you don't do it (you only get once chance) you get thrown in the jail and eventually die. If you save the rat, he brings you the key.

Oh, memories.

Not to mention that the whole scene happens so fast that, at first, you just go "What the hell was that!?" rather than think about throwing any boots.

Ah, Space Quest. What I'd give for another one of those. But only if Scott Murphy or Josh Mandel have something to do with it. And it would have to be a classic point-and-click adventure, not that action crap that one developer tried pulling on us years ago.

$10 for 3 Space Quest Games? I got the Collection off Steam during the sale for $5. :-S

Or for an extra $10 on Steam now you can get the complete collection. GoG isn't really giving fans much of a deal

You're paying extra to not have the games rely on Steam's shitty software.

Plus, its guaranteed to run on XP and Vista without having to fiddle with settings or anything like that. And no DRM so if I want to install it on my laptop and home PC and I'm playing somewhere offline, no worries.

The Collection on steam and GOG versions both use Dosbox to run these games. Its the same exact software.

keyword here is "steam sale". The normal price of this collection is $20 but GOG doesn't offer games in that price range so they chopped the collection in 2.

Weird I was just looking up phantasmagoria on wiki yesterday. I still have the box and disks for it. I was definitely too young to play this when I did haha. I beat it too.

I hope they release some of the Kings Quest games or maybe they already did. Roberta Williams was so Awesome!

Wouldn't mind a release of conquests of Camelot or conquests of the longbow either.

Well, there was a pretty noticeable downward trend in quality in the series starting at the 4th game... rushed development, next to no QA, several notorious game-killing bugs, to the extent I seem to remember they issued a "patch disk" that you could send in a self-addressed envelope for at one point. Otherwise a great sequel as far as story and setting go.

The fifth game was such a departure from the series in terms of play style and theme that it really didn't seem like a sequel so much as a re-envisioning of the franchise. Most long-time fans seem pretty evenly split on that issue, however.

I must have been around 8 years old when I played the first SQ. I was really scared to start it because a friend had told me you started the game hiding in a closet with lots of corpses around. On screen this pretty much amounted to some blocky white pixels with some red (blood) pixels on top.

And nowadays kids are playing Dead Space. Times have changed.
