The Beatles: Rock Band single "All You Need is Love" will bounce on trampolines over to Wii and PS3 on February 16 and March 4, respectively. The song was initially released exclusively on Xbox 360, with proceeds from purchases going to Doctors Without Borders. The track raised approximately $218,000 for the international relief agency before the promotion ended on January 31.
All you need to download the track and start singing along is $2, or 200 Wii Points.

I hate to be cynical, but I think the only reason that proceeds went to charity is because Harmonix/MTV Games/EA already got their money from Microsoft's exclusivity deal. Now that they're not getting money from it, no proceeds (including Xbox 360 sales) will go to charity.

Even worse, for PS3 users, it's actually 6 months (9/9/09 to 3/4/10).

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that this song was used as leverage in the "console war"?

Wait, wait, wait... March for PS3? What the hell are they trying to pull? So it's gone from "All You Need Is an Xbox 360" to "All You Need Is Even More Patience."

you know what is exclusive ? my money going to God Of War 3 and not to Harmonix for their horrible decesions. they make it sound as if it's as if us PS3 users don't like to help a good cause. oh well if you don't want my money then i'l just put it toward better things like... GOD OF WAR 3 !

Why the hell do we have to wait 2 more weeks for PS3? What the hell, man!?
Also, is this the end of DLC for The Beatles?

As a Beatles fan, I would have loved to have this DLC from the beginning. Buying it for the sake of charity is a no brainer, but since I didn't have an X-box I wasn't able to.
I'll still probably buy it, but the thought of having a track be exclusive 4-6 months for charity and now not is kind of a bummer.

I am still flabbergasted that this game didn't include all of the songs from the get go.
Now, I am not a rockband/guitar hero kind of guy so I don't keep up with these things but the game cost enough money to include all of the most popular songs. I picked up the Red and the Blue album on vinyl for $35 and I will throw that on the (real) turntable any day over breaking out the plastic instruments.

Exactly why I've passed on this. There is no good reason other than greed that the game should not have come flat out loaded with ALL the hits.
I see the game for 30 bells now at EB.
It also irks me that RB2 DLC cannot be brought over into the game, guess Ringo Wormo didn't want his avatar to be bashing out Black Magic by Slayer.
So pass, pass, pass for me.

Some people need to learn that there are other factors at play here. I'm sure in a perfect world The Beatles' entire discography would be able to fit onto a single disc, and it wouldn't cost Harmonix an arm and a leg to get the licenses.
However, here on Earth, things don't work that way. Companies can't just give things away, they need to make money in order to stay in existence. Harmonix put 45 Beatles songs on that disc - in comparison, every band-centric game Activision game has only had 25 songs by the band the game was named after. And, considering the fact that The Beatles are (NOT arguably) the biggest band of all time, the licenses for those songs must have cost a fortune.
Not to mention that there has not been a single track released as DLC for a Guitar Hero band-centric game, and the only DLC that was ever compatible with them was Death Magnetic, which is compatible with Guitar Hero: Metallica.
I, for one, have a huge amount of respect for how far Harmonix has pushed this genre forward. All Activision does is drag it back, stay in the past, while Harmonix created the guitar genre*, was the first to introduce regular DLC, made the transition into a full band, and now they have the Rock Band Network, ensuring that there will never be a lack of content for their games.
*Guitar Freaks doesn't count

I get free stuff from Nintendo all the time. In fact, when Metroid Prime 3 wouldn't work on my Wii, I called Nintendo and they sent me a new copy IMMEDIATELY, without even checking if I actually bought the game or if I was bullshitting about ownership.
