All you really need to know about Rock of the Dead is that it's -- as the developers at Epicenter (Real Heroes: Firefighters) describe -- Typing of the Dead meets Guitar Hero. Judging by the build demonstrated to IGN, the game allows you to use a Rock Band or Guitar Hero ax to chop through the legions of the undead. Obviously, a guitar peripheral will be mandatory, though the developer is preparing contingency plan should Nintendo frown upon the requirement.
There's quite a bit of nerdy star power behind the game, with Neil Patrick Harris voicing the main character and Felicia Day featuring as the love interest. Rock of the Dead, which aims for a "cheesy/campy" feel throughout, will be budget-priced between $30 and $40 when it shambles into retail "late spring or early summer."

I dunno my budget game prices are between $10-25
$30-40 falls too close to retail game prices to be "budget" in my books
but looks like it could be fun, never really was one for typing of the dead so I'll probably personally skip it cause I'm just not that "hardcore"

It's a shame that this game is a console exclusive. I'm not bitching about it being on the Wii, just a console exclusive. As I've the PS3 version for RB I'd still be bitching if it was on the PS3. You're alienaiting a lot of potential buyers by making a game like this a console exclusive. I'd love to pick up this game, but I don't ,want to buy a guitar controller for my Wii for this game. However, it is nice to see games making uses out of our guitar controllers.

That's just it. Even if I owned a Wii, I sure wouldn't have made it my choice for Rock Band...

I orignally planned to. As all my friends had Wiis and we all wanted to play. Then out of nowhere my brother bought it for his PS3, then all my friends bought PS3s and RB for it, except 3. I feel bad because I can't play with those 3, but I went with the majority of my friends and got it for my PS3.

After each kill you get a li'l guitar rock sound, could be really cool. The Interface on the other hand Im not to sure about, looks like it needs to be snazzed up a bit (but then again, I havn't played it yet and it totally rocks)...

Neil Patrick Harris? Felicia Day? If only Nathan Fillion would voice someone else, and we'd have an awesome 'Dr. Horrible' reunion!
Gonna be cautious about the game though. I tried the 'Fret Nice' demo, and could only feel that the guitar got in the way instead of helping enhance the game.

So how long do you guys think until Activision tries to sue them for having the audacity to make a game that is compatible with the Guitar Hero controllers?

It looks awesome but... I'm not going to get my hopes TOO high. The developer doesn't exactly have the greatest track record. My gut tells me that, like Ninjabread Man, this is a game that SHOULD be awesome but... won't be :(

What a great idea, although if it doesn't give you the same visual cues as Guitar Hero for hitting the frets, it's gonna be uncomfortable to adapt.

Nintendo is about to announce the addition of Dreamcast games to its VC lineup in order to release The Typing of the Dead as a promotional tool for this game.
Then I woke up and booted up my Dreamcast.

And when I saw Nintendo ride past me I seen they was carryin' them Dreamcast games in a horn, goin' on ahead to boot up the Dreamcast, somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold. And I knew that when I got there, the Dreamcast would be playing, its games downloadable right to the Virtual Console. Somewhere out there, up ahead.
And then I woke up.
