Best ending to a Video Game EVER!!!

I was on the fence. I'd commented here a few times about how in some ways I preferred the first over ME2. However, after finishing the game at around 35ish hours I have to say I like the 2nd better. I think the story in the 1st is better, but ME2 just feels better all around.

The ending is soooo good. Each and every time I had to make squad decisions I was just white knuckling at the severity of the consequences. It really, really felt like the ending was a big deal, rather than just 'oh I'm finishing the game off finally'.

I'm with Platinum_Skeet. I've played so many games that a formulaic ending is easy to spot almost from the first few hours of an "epic" RPG, but this one... holy Cerberus Hound of Hades, I did not see almost any of that coming. Gotta finish the second run so I can see what happens with a few different choices.

-spoiler-

My only gripe to get game is that you spend almost all the game building your squad and it seems right when you get them assembled *BAM* suicide mission.

-spoiler over-

But I never had the feeling from any other game than when I hit the end of the game. It felt as if every decision I made from the beginning led to that that one moment. Mass Effect is definitely to all those naysayers that say an open ended game can't have a good story.

Not surprising... it's an awesome followup to a great first game.

Why? Why do people worry so much about how much a game sells?

If you bought it and you liked it should that not be enough?

Because depending on how well games sell affects future entries in the series. I really like Megaman Legends 1&2, but they sold poorly, and as a result I don't have a 3rd entry. Although for Mass Effect it's not as big a deal.

it mentions GoW3 I guess.. though ME2 has sold-in over 2 million copies, I'd of thought Dante's Inferno would have sold more, it's a great, but short game

You seem to be a pirating person, who then has the nerve to complain how 'if you don't buy Dante's Inferno, you're destroying the game industry'...

How do you reconcile those, Mr Candles?

If those games are so bad, why did you want to pirate them?

Bioshock 2?

Why bother? Why not just rent the game or not play it all if it's not worth the money? I just wait till B- games are $25. I don't steal them.

Stealing takes the original, File sharing makes a copy.

And the reason i don't buy them when they're cheap is because then I'd still be rewarding dev's for not doing their job/being bad at their job. Not only that, but I'd also be sending most of that money to the greedy fat cat publishers (I'm looking at you Bobby Kotick).

It's only on that one type of gun.

Which one it is, I don't know. I'd LIKE to know, because it looks like a kick ass gun.

Even after 2 playthroughs, it's not a gun I've touched. Which hurts my heart.

Can you IMAGINE the sales numbers if they'd released a Wii version? They could have, you know, and it would have been awesome. Unless they didn't market it - then it would have been the publisher's fault.

I'm Commander Markez, and both your comments are the worst in the citathread.

Seriously though, they both absolutely suck. What's with the wholly out of place dig on the Wii? I don't know, it makes no sense. Do I like answering my own questions? I do, yes.

In Mass Effect: Wii, you control Monty Fon, a cute little volus who has an adventure all his own! Use motion control to scan planets, hack computers, manage your inventory, and drive your mako on a handful of new worlds! Coming August 2010!
