"Good. You know, I can't even confess that we're doing anything on it, but what we're doing is very, very unique. It's very, very different. It's much, much, much more than you could imagine from what you saw at E3."

Someone get this man a thesaurus.

Tell you what, I'll stick a microphone in your face, ask you a whole bunch of questions, and then transcribe the whole thing word for word. I bet you won't be as eloquent as you think you'll be.

That's a great idea.

I think Peter Molyneux's interviews would sound MUCH better with a mic up his throat!

Hey I'm not saying he has to be poetic, but at least gives us a bit more than "It's really really very very good and different."

Is it coming out soon? Do you use a controller at all? Is there a specific learning curve Milo has?

"Very unique" doesn't even make sense. If unique means one of a kind, what does very unique mean?

Sounds like Xav caught him offguard with the question about Milo, and he started to answer by saying "Good" and then caught himself thinking, "oh poo, I'm not supposed to be talking about Milo" so he tried to cover up as best as he could without blowing off the question.

I don't care what people think of Molyneux. The man is a bloody genius. You never hear of game designers talk about their games the way he does. With an incredible sense of passion and pride without an ego.

Agreed Cap it is nice to see someone excited about the game their working on. However there is a difference between being excited about your game and being completely arrogant. Molyneux has calmed down greatly as of late, but there was a time when everything he touch was apparently the greatest thing since the wheel.

The guy needs to sit back and examine the 4 billion games that are better than anything he has ever done then let us know where his games stands.

It's been the same thing since Fable the first with Peter. He has all of these great ideas and for some reason or another can never see them fully realized in the final product.

And so again, reading this interview, I am really excited for the next Fable IF they can deliver on the features that Peter is visualizing.

You know I'm ever ok with that. Sometimes you can't cram everything you want into your game; Mass Effect 1 has a lot of stuff cut before release. But Molyneux used to make you feel like he was going to completely change the face of video games forever. Then his game would come out and it's hard not to feel a bit disappointed after all his build up.

He is an amazing, creative genius. He always creates these amazing ideas for his games, it's just that usually he is a little ahead of his time, and ahead of where the tech is. It seems now, however, the tech has finally caught up. Pretty much everything he set out to do in Fable 2 was realized, and it was an amazing game. It didn't suffer from the faults his games normally do. I really hope he is able to hit it out of the park with Fable 3. After Fable 2, I have high hopes.

Molyman has this interview thing down pat. Sure, he throws in a lot of big promises and sounds super excited about the whole thing, but he never meanders too far into hyperbole if he does at all, and he's wielding the Spiderman quotes like a champ.

I fully know how his interviews can be so mixed up and disorganized. When ever I talk about something that I'm passionate about I shudder and make a fool of myself. Luckily my wife is the only one who hears it.

My point is although he's ass backwards when he talks I listen to every word. Going to get let down but I still listen.

sounds like alot of detail is being put into these rings, soo if you're wearing gloves, do you have to wear the rings over your gloves or do you not get to wear gloves at all and i doubt this thermo nuclear level, i doubt hed give us the power to wipe out an entire city with just holding down a button, then again the final boss just had to be shot once, so i dont know.

I don't think molyneaux understands leveling up. You don't level up to "change a number like you do on a calculator". You do it to gain new abilities and skills. It just seems as if now you do events and actions and you just randomly auto level up in skills. What he is talking about, from my understanding, does not seem to "enrich" the leveling up experience at all, you don't level up to PHYSICALLY change your characters look by growing magical tattoos and growing wings! What do I care what my character looks like? I also don't want a bunch of NPC followers to follow me around and get stuck on artifacts and annoy the crap out of me.

I think one day Molyneaux's ambition will probably cost him his career, this system as he explained it sounds like garbage. A character that evolves randomly depending on the actions you choose. An RPG with no life bar? Stating that people are basically too stupid to understand his ingenious system of 3 different colors of experience. Who is he talking about? I'm sure everyone here payed attention to the life bar and knows how the experience system works.

P.S. If you get the same joy from leveling up in fable 3 as Obama did at his inauguration, then you are a fool.

FABLE is definitely a good series and I'm sure FABLE III will be good, too... but I really don't see how people go on about Molyneux being a "genius". The guy gets too ahead of himself, which, in turn, leads to unfulfilled promises and disappointments. Sure, the FABLE games still end up being good games, but not great ones. If you know your limits and push them, rather than keep your head in the clouds, your projects, whatever they may be, will have a higher quality.

Just look at the likes of Kojima, Matsuno, Miyamoto and Kamiya (sorry, listed my favorite developers, heh), all their titles from ones they're known for (MGS, Vagrant Story, Super Mario Bros. and DMC) to their latest creations (MGS4, FFXII, Super Mario Galaxy, Bayonetta) have pushed their limits, but they didn't promise things that went above and beyond what was either possible or feasible.

Kojima is the best example of a good developer, though, as he always tried to do new things, but not without the proper tech and resources and, in the end, as he said, MGS4 turned out to be what he always envisioned the first game to be. THAT'S what a developer should strive for.

As for the thesaurus comment, lol. There have been plenty of devs caught off guard and still able to retain some sort of repose as they regale us on their project(s).

"You know, the health bar in Fable III was destined to be this pixel-high line at the top left-hand side of the screen. No one was looking at it! No one even knew it was there!"

Maybe because you made the health bar so sodding stupidly small that no-one could see it? Seriously, didn't anyone tell this man to first try adding a sensible health bar and see if people look at it?

all his interviews sound like this... it sounds like he's making up the features as he's being interviewed to cover up the fact that he didn't actually think of them yet.

classic example, when he's explaining the health system:

"Why have it? You just put the health bar into the world. Just like FPSs do. You know, the screen goes red at the edges and ..."

Desaturates.

"Exactly, desat– we're not going to do exactly the same thing in Fable,..."

oh crap. did joystiq catch you NOT CHANGING GAMING HISTORY molyneux? well, don't worry, because you're not going to do that exact same thing.
