According to gaming news site Strategy Informer, Microsoft finally dismissed the possibility of a PC port for Remedy's upcoming episodic thriller, Alan Wake. An unnamed Microsoft representative reportedly told Informer, "some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realized that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive."
We've contacted Microsoft to get our own first-hand confirmation of the report. We'll also try to find out why Alan Wake is so afraid of being "intimate." It's like ... just let us in, man.

I know, I know. The awful truth hit me the second I submitted it. I thought about fixing it in another reply, but came to the conclusion that it wouldn't make me look any less dumb.

I have no freaking clue why some console gamers want PC gaming to die. How would it benefit them in any way? Any way at all? How?
Here's a good article about why console gamers wouldn't want PC gaming to die.

No one in this chain of comments mentioned PC gaming dying. Hell, in this entire article not one person used the word "dying" except for you two.
Just because some people prefer consoles (like myself) doesn't mean they want PC gaming to die anytime soon. If not for PC games we wouldn't have awesome games/series like Command & Conquer or The Sims (and many many others).
I hope I don't sound rude, but it gets really annoying to come into an article and see 10 comments from someone who apparently feels the need to bash consoles and treat them as "lesser beings" just because they don't have customizable hardware.
Nerdy, and to some extent you to Brian, can you not bring up this whole "stop saying PC gaming is dying" or "PC gaming is a million times better" stuff? If you disagree with someone there are better ways of having an e-debate.

@sonicspike41 - troll defense supplies
i dare you to find a post where i bash consoles, in a comical or serious way.
and sure, no one mentioned it in the first post, but keep reading.
I don't bash anyone for there choice in gaming, and i take the way i behave on the internet seriously, one of the reasons i use my real name as my screen name, on blogs and in games.
I don't act like a dick just because i can do it anonymously.
And to make it sound like many console gamers ( i wont name names) don't do the exact same thing to each other and to PC gamers is a joke.
And if ever i show discomfort relating to PC games, it is in Topics with a PC tag, since that is the medium i choose to game on, i believe that is a perfectly valid area to discuss any downfalls i believe the game may have, or the benefits of that particular game coming to the PC.
So please, stop pretending that Nerdydesi does it more than any other average gamer, or that i even do it at all.

I'm not saying he does it anymore than anyone. Hell, when you have people like vidikron in this same exact article saying stuff about "PC fanboys" I think that alone is a "counter balance" to the negativity coming from the PC side of things.
Also, Taco/Tea Bag's comment mentioned nothing about PC anything dying. Sure it wasn't the nicest comment, but even as a guy who plays PC games myself I laughed at it a bit.
Brian, just reading most of your comments here you seem to be trying to go the level-headed and polite route. It was just when I saw that "stop saying PC gaming is dying" after not seeing a single comment mention it bit that I felt like "great, this is probably going to start another argument about one system dying or being better than the other." I didn't mean to imply that you're one of the people who do it more than others though.
I agree with you that both are great in their own special ways, and bad in other ways. I just wish everyone, Nerdydesi, vidikron, Shagittarius, and everyone in here making off-kilter comments would just stop and try to enjoy what they are getting instead of trying to win some argument against the other side.

While I agree with some experiences being better on certain platforms, this seems like the opposite to me. A survivor horror usually shines on the PC when the screen is a foot away from you, you have nice headphones on to hear every little sound, and your entire posture is more tense compared to the relaxed atmosphere created by lounging on the couch.
And either way, just because it's a better experience on one platform doesn't mean it can't be on both. Especially considering it was originally being made for both platforms and developing for both is far from difficult.

MSFT needs to stop being idiots with statements like this. I have my console hooked up to the same screen my PC uses. I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world who does that. They need to stop making big assumptions.
Actually, that's not the reason they're idiots. The reason they are idiots is because they just don't want to make a PC version--and are trying to "justify" the choice with this ludicrous excuse. Sorry, not buying it..

I think it's funny because if PC gaming did actually die off completely, me and a lot of others would switch to OSX or linux, because gaming is the main reason I stick with windows. If that's not there anymore, why should I pay a premium for Windows?
(I'm pretty sure MS makes more money from Windows than they ever will with the xbox)

The real problem is that Microsoft has forgotten how to release a game on PC. What was the last one? That's right, Gears of War... in 2007.

Oh please. Why can't all these companies cut the crap, the professionalism and PR speak and just come out and say they hate the PC?
Microsoft, just come out and admit that you want to kill off PC gaming and have them all purchase your Xbox 360. You'd make even more money from selling more consoles with your proprietary closed off system, overpriced accessories, online subscriptions, DLC, etc.
This is why other MS backed games like Gears of War 2, Fable 2/3, etc. won't come to PC. They'd prefer not to bring Natal to PC so even more games could be console exclusive and never come to PC.
God knows modern desktops and laptops cannot be connected to an HDTV and even play games with a gamepad. Sheesh.
Its like MS wants me to dust off the old 360 and finally use it for games instead of a DVD player. : )

Your right Shag. Look at all the people here with hundreds of dollars invested in DLC and such. If they get sick of their 360 RRODing and messing up in other ways and decide to defect to a PS3 or other system, all that money is down the drain. MS especially out of the console makers wants to grab its gamers by the balls the most.
I would hate to see MS being the only player on the market and I really appreciate the freedom and flexibility the PC platform offers, but which then also attracts the pirates that ruin it.

Pretty sure it's only $50 a year "Microsoft wants for you to continue using their console", not $100. That aside, it's a reliable, fast service that gives me the products I want in an easy-to-navigate manner. What's to complain about? If PSN were as well-designed, I'd gladly pay for that too.

Well that and the fact I have magic thing called a controller I can plug into my PC.

You could always pay MS the low low price of $40 for a VGA cable and hook up your 360 to your monitor, or if you have a newer monitor/360 just use HDMI! That's the same thing right? No?

I could but how am I suppose to use a keyboard for those games that are better with it? Plus my monitor does 16:10 so it would look really weird aspect wise.

The 360 scales 16:10 monitors perfectly. On a monitor, you can select 1680x1080 and it'll add bars to the top and bottom for a perfect 16:9 picture. I used to enjoy this feature a lot until my 360 died. I wish my PS3 had it.

The problem with that is I prefer full screen gaming because those bars irate me so much I can't even play the game.

You can just set the monitor's setting to aspect and it will add the bars to the top and bottom (they will be very small bars if on a widescreen monitor) and this works for both PS3 and 360 since the setting is on the monitor.
I've got both my 360 and PS3 on a widescreen monitor and small bars show up at the top and bottom and the aspect is perfect (no distortion) for both.

Just look at all the people banned right before the MW2 release. The pirates are already moving to consoles. MS and developers should make experiences worth buying instead of worrying about the assholes who won't buy no matter what they do.

I think it is good that Remedy is focusing on one platform, it takes them long enough to develop their games without dealing with multi-platform development. On the other hand that quote doesn't look like it is excluding future PC ports, nobody takes the PC into account when talking about Platform Exclusivity. Not to mention Microsoft published console games making their way to PC through a different publisher has happened enough times now that I would say it is unlikely Alan Wake will never come to PC, the question is when and by that time will anybody care?

The thing is that Alan Wake was a PC exclusive when announced, then a PC/Xbox title and now Xbox only. You can bet your ass MS did this to promote sales of their 360. They are afraid that if all games are 360/PC, then people will go for the PC version, especially PS3 owners.
With all the games PC never gets, if the original studio doesn't want to bother porting, I'm sure there's plenty of studios that would love to take the job to port the game to PC. And even if the job isn't perfect, then the modding community steps in and fixes it up and possibly even better, ALA Resident Evil 4.

Piracy is already high on the DS and PSP. Some console fanboys think the PC has high piracy just because the PC gamers are naturally less moral.
No, its because the PC is such an open platform which allows for things like mods but also easy piracy without hardware modifications like modchips to a console which then voids the warranty so if your console gets the YLOD or RROD, your out of luck.

I know that but if a lot of games where to do as microsoft wants most pirates would mod there system and not care about the warranty.
