If there's one thing we can say the Mass Effect series has going for it (besides impressive graphics, interesting combat, and complex characters), it's the great story. We may not be the types to invest in literature based on our favorite gaming franchises, but the first two issues of the Mass Effect comic -- a series titled "Redemption" -- may actually convince us otherwise. Heck, they've already turned lots of other folks; the first issue sold out in under three weeks and the second issue took just six days, according to CBR News.
It certainly doesn't hurt that Redemption explores the actions of our favorite Asari while she searches for answers on Shepard before the story continues in Mass Effect 2 -- can we help it if we miss her a bit? Okay, okay, we miss her a whole lot. Where have you gone, Liara?! We just wanna talk, baby!

If she really cared, she would have come with us to fight the collectors.

What a beotch.

This is the reason why Liara is so cold in ME2:

Seriously. Same with Wrex. I get that Ashley/Kaiden is pissed because they think the Alliance is the way to fight this thing and more power to them, but Liara and Wrex need some f*cking perspective.
However the one thing that I don't like the most about the Liara in ME2 is that she isn't even the same person anymore. She's this supremely confident badass when in ME1 she was kind of bookish and...not weak but definitely not someone who's willing to tangle with the Shadow Broker. It feels like a total character reboot. It's my least favorite part of the game which actually just goes to show what an amazing game it really is.

Yeah, Wrex was nice, but he doesn't come with you. Never mind that the whole world ends if you fail, HE has to get the Krogan to make more babies. Just saying that they both know the risks but choose to pursue their comparatively trivial interests.

@WREturns: Wrex has the responsibility of gathering and uniting all the Krogan clan, which, like the Rachni Queen and her species, will most likely have a big impact in the finale of the third game.
It's almost like Dragon Age but on a massive 3-game scale. I wouldn't be surprised if Wrex assembled the Krogans, Ashley/Kaiden fronted the Alliance, Tali (if she wasn't exiled) brought together the Migrant Fleet and Legion's repurposed Geth, etc etc to wage war on the Reapers.

Wrex is my brosef so I've got no problem with him doing some important stuff for his people. Liara on the other hand, I always hated that baby fat faced New England Old money accented bitch, so now I just hate her more. @Rein, I dont want the krogan to be rebuilt, the reapers are spaceships, double organed unkillable turtle people arent so useful against spaceships.

Did anybody else get a Benezia vibe during the scene where Shepard walks in on Liara threatening her client? She basically quoted the "have you ever faced an asari commando unit before" line. Like mother, like daughter, I guess.

I have the miniature issue 1 that came with the Collector's Edition of the game. What a fun collection I shall have of issue one being next to the standard sized issue 2.

Curse you Joystiq for telling me about this. So I quickly scurried to find copies online. Now I'll have the first two issues. I guess I'll feel better knowing I have them than not.

I haven't picked up issue two yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. More so after playing through Mass Effect 2. I just want all the lore I can get.

EA should get the same animation studio that did the amazing Dead Space and Dantes Inferno animated features to do a Mass Effect one. That's be cool.

Amazing? how about utterly mediocre. The Dead Space one might have had an intriguing story and provided nice insight into the games story. But the animation was half assed shit, and the voice acting was awful, even worse than Batman Gotham Knight.

Look Bats, we're friends and all, but you need to leave Dead Space alone and just walk away.

Everyone who made Gotham Knight pissed in my cornflakes. And, admittedly, i really did enjoy dead space downfall, the voice acting was really good, except for Vincent, and the story was really great. But that art, blech, I just couldnt get past it. Maybe that was just because I loved the game so much and it didnt feel an appropriate fit, whereas since Dante's Inferno already had some animated bits, it at least seemed to match

I sure can't find any collector's editions for the 360 version in stores, but I can for the PC version.

well i guess that means PCs are finally, undeniably superior.

Why would you mention the 360 version as if you were looking for it in the first place, then, as that's how your comment comes across, when your name says you don't play w/ toys AKA consoles?
Based on previous comments I've seen you make, I thought you were above being as big a dick as those on the internet who trash pcs all the time. Guess I was wrong.. that's a bit of a let down.

If you read the comic book you can see how she became who she is now.

I like how they made her so much interesting in ME2 even without being a playable character.

I don't know why people would want that comic - it came with the collectors edition and I wasn't impressed with the art at all.

For me it's not about the art, but the bridge made between ME1 and 2.

all i want to know does Shepard live at the end of ME3 or does it depend on how i play it & will he be a playable character in any future ME games or will he continue to be the lead. Like Snake has been for MSG ,cause i really can't see any other character be the lead in any other ME follow ups.just got the second comic way cool.looking for the third one already.

Well, Bioware have said Shepard can die in ME 2. I haven't personally experienced this, but who knows?
And Tali is awesome. FTW.
