Section 8 still preparing to drop on PS3

The possibility of jetpack-rich, Tribes-esque action on PS3 just got a little less nebulous. Speaking with IGN, a TimeGate spokesperson said that the developer's Section 8 would be coming to PS3 at some point, though no formal release window has been settled on.

The news shouldn't come as a surprise to the Joystiq faithful, as we reported last December that TimeGate had alleged that publisher SouthPeak entered into an unauthorized PS3 licensing deal for the game with Russian company 1C. Whether or not the suit will keep the game in legal limbo (and for how long if so) remains to be seen.

Were the PC and 360 versions cross platform?

More games need to do that.

If you're asking if they could play multiplayer with any mix of PC or 360 users populating the same game, I do not believe that's the case. I wish there were more games like that, but there's only one of which I can think recently that made that feature available. It'd be a damn fine boon to games like these which aren't the biggest or most popular, to be able to draw from a larger player base to fill a multiplayer session at any given time.

Really fun game, too. I think I might jump in for some on PC later.

Iirc, Microsoft doesn't like when companies do that because it allows silver members to play it online.

And please don't turn that into an argument about XBL pricing. I'm just saying.

you do not RC at all. If Microsoft didn't want developers to do that, they could simply disable the functionality (or, you know, never develop it to begin with). Games with cross platform play don't make gold accounts free on the 360. You might be confusing the fact that PC gamers don't need to pay a yearly fee for live?

Either way, don't worry about your comment tripping off a debate about pricing... you'll have to "rc" before creating controversy. ;)

trust me dude ,it's not worth $60.00 your better off renting it if you want to give it a try, but otherwise save your money .

The Demo for the 360 was alot of FUN, why does everybody say it sucks so much???

I mean, dropping from the sky into mp battle was a really cool idea... Hmmmm why didn't bungie think of that for ODST, or would that suck?

If anyone buys this game for $60 they are a god-damned fool. I got it on sale for $25, but even the full retail price for a brand new copy at gamestop is $40. So yes, everyone agrees that a game that came out during the past holiday season isn't worth $60 anymore.

This game is pretty cool IMO. Bad thing was it released so close to MW2 so it never stood a chance

Oh yeah we love to have second rate shitty ports. If they want this game to sell it has to be priced at $20 anything higher and you deserve to get ass raped by PS3 bommerang controller.

This will sell 5 copies on PS3. Seriously, who would buy an old port of this mediocre game?

3rd party exclusivity this generation is dead.

Not true at all. There are still games like Mass Effect and MGS4.

I have a PS3 and played both Mass Effect on my gaming PC.

If you dont need a certain system to play it it's not exclusive. Halo? not an exclusive, Mass effect not exclusive. Yeah if you're so anally inclined that you NEED it to be a console version then yeah but if you just want to play one of these games all you need is patience for the PC port and a PC made in the last few years.

You're wrong. Halo 3 and ODST are only on Xbox 360. Same with Gears 2. Same with Fable 2. Forze series. PGR series. Crackdon series. Etc.

Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 were on PC, but beyond that, the other games have not appeared on PC, as Microsoft has started to rethink its strategy for the Xbox 360.

And there are plenty of 3rd part exclusives on Xbox 360. I'm big on shmups myself, and only Xbox 360 has offered a huge catelog for me to devour.

This game sucks. Trust me.

I thought the demo was pretty good, I enjoyed it. I don't see why people don't like it :/

Word of mouth, most people base their opinion on what other people say about it.

I tried this game on 360 and it was nigh unplayable. On PC, it was much more entertaining, but the combat wasn't very fun. Much of the combat occurs on open fields with no cover at all. You just slog away at each other until one guy dies.

If this game had included ship boarding actions in space and something other than just other guys in suits as enemies, alien bugs, it could have been something.

As it was, it wasn't even a decent multi-player FPS.

Similar to Sony's response to the announcement that Tekken 6 was going multiplatform, pretty sure Microsoft's response to this is "Wait, what game?". Sadly, pretty sure that's Sony's this time around too....

The only thing I loathed about Section 8 was it was releasing around the same time that GS was overwhelmed with District 9 propaganda advertising, and the most commonly asked question by customers was if Section 8 was a prequel to the film.

Hatred.

Crap game, tried it, don't buy it. Save your money for God of War 3 or any other new ps3 game coming out.

I saw 3 new? copies of this game for PC at Goodwill for $10. How is it?
