It's the same ol' Samfish, just very sarcastic and pessimistic.

The Wii doesn't get a port of SF4, but the iDevices do? A platform that has ZERO buttons and less power than the PSP gets a game said to be too demanding for the Wii.

It's mind-boggling. Not that I would've wanted a Wii version (already owning it on 360 and PC), as I much prefer TvC to SF4 anyways.

uhhh depending on who you have....it IS a button masher....true some people are hard to pull moves off with, but there is a reason why you have people that run with Ken & Ryu online a lot....

I must be misunderstanding the term button masher here, because if you went into SF4 and just starting mashing buttons you wouldn't win a single match out of 100 with someone that knew what they were doing.

I think his definition of button masher is a game that uses buttons that you must "mash" with precision timing and cyborg-like execution.

Same here, I grew up playing games like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Samurai Shodown on arcades, I can't do any special moves on D-pad. On iPhone it's even more ridiculous.

This is the epitome of everything that is wrong with most iPhone games. Cram a game designed for something else on the iPhone. Anything that needs a virtual joystick or D-pad has failed.

he is actually does me a favor on that though.

I got the very first version iPhone. I have been thinking about upgrading all the time. But when the new model came, I have a policy to wait 3 months before purchase. By that time, there always was a new model announced. So I waited to get the newest model 3 months after release. It's been like this over and over and over again. LOL

Heck what do I care?
I have wi-fi both at work and at home.
I always have either my PSP or DSi with me.
I always have my digi cam in my car.
If it's for phone alone, the first model does it fantastically.

I love my iPhone and most of the games I have purchased for it. The best games are the ones unique or specially suited to the platform. Games that try to cram another experience onto the tiny touch screen are mediocre at best.

The last three games I bought were all very addictive and well worth the money:

1) Hook Champ
2) Sword and Poker
3) Space Miner: Space Ore Blast (This one is as polished as any PSP or DS game)

Past favorites include:

GeoDefense, Galcon, GloBall, I Dig It, Jet Cat Stunts

I don't understand why a company can't come out a with a standard controller for the ipod/iphone so game devs don't have to use the touch screen.

(I wish that company would be apple but I doubt they would do it)

Try to picture an iPhone with a joystick connected to it.

It's not much of a portable platform anymore, is it?

Because things like the DS and PSP already exist. You want more depth in your controls beyond just a touch screen, play games on another platform, instead of trying to turn the iPhone into a PSP or something.

This is what bugs me about a lot of developers. They can apparently down-port their project to anything (especially iPhone and PSP), but when it comes to Nintendo platforms, they can't be bothered.

The PSP one is especially perplexing, because the whole "but the software won't sell" argument doesn't seem to apply... on a platform with worse software sales.

As someone who only owns a Wii but is also a big fan of 2-D fighters, I have to say Tatsunoko vs Capcom more than makes up for the lack of Street Fighter 4. Granted, I realize that that isn't your point, but I'm just throwing it out there.

I'm not complaining about the lack of software from a personal perspective, certainly. I would rather take TvC (or any Versus game) over SFIV (or any Street Fighter). I'm just pointing out the interesting train of thought that leads to iPhone and PSP somehow being ahead of Wii when it comes to porting concerns.

I think you're missing the market element, Khan. I think the Wii is skipped lots of times because the developers already feel they have a console version they are happy with on the 360 and/or PS3. When talking about the PSP or iPhone you're really talking about different markets.

Maybe if people bought some 3rd party non-carnival games on the Wii everyone once in a while, they'd consider it.

@vcize: if third parties made games other than terrible ports and carnival games, their games would sell. as much as it pains me to say it, arcade style games and quirky off the wall games like no more heroes, zack and wiki, and madworld wouldnt sell millions on ANY platform.

look at call of duty and a proper resident evil that isnt being remade for the 10th time, they sold millions. red steel and umbrella chronicles were flukes because red steel was crap and umbrella chronicles is a light gun game.. a genre thats never been known to sell millions.

name 5 games that arent niche or poorly made products for the wii that are third party.. and ill agree.

The gaming industry is a business, it's always about money. They don't make games out of the kindness of their hearts for free. They can probably make an easier profit on this than a Wii version. Just do a quick port to the iPhone. SF4 is a big brand name in the sea of random iPhone games. The price will be low and it'll jump to the top of the iPhone charts. And they'll get a lot of impulse purchases.

If they do it for the Wii, they'll just get a ton of Wii fanboys talkin online about how they want hardcore games and how they're waiting to dust off their Wii's. The game would come out and most of those fanboys will be all talk and not purchase the game. And I'm a Wii Fanboy myself and see this all the time in the message boards.
