Well gang, it's been a long time coming, but it seems we're finally going to get the Live Anywhere integration Microsoft began teasing four whole years ago. We're finding it awfully difficult to be jaded, however, as the mobile counterpart to Xbox Live will make its debut on the recently announced Windows Phone 7 -- a sleek little device which we're periodically switching between browser tabs to ogle. Click past the jump to see a demo of the phone's capabilities.
According to a Microsoft press release, the Xbox Live integration on Windows' new mobile platform "delivers the first and only official Xbox LIVE experience on a phone, including Xbox LIVE games, Spotlight feed and the ability to see a gamer's avatar, Achievements and gamer profile." We've contacted Microsoft to find out exactly what types of games are going to be offered on the device. We hope its the same lot that's available on the Zune HD -- the more electronic devices on which we can play Audiosurf, the better.

dude u realize that their will be hundreds of windows phone 7 variations. Just because the demo'd one was 3.7 doesnt mean they wont have 4.3's and other variations, as well as flip phones and slide out phones.
PEOPLE NEED TO START REMEMBERING, MICROSOFT IS A PLATFORM CREATOR!
No they didnt drop office support, all the business platform stuff will still be their...
I can almost gaurantee they will have a Windows Mobile 6.x emulator for apps..... and knowing Microsoft I can also nearly gaurantee the ability to multi-app considering they were bashing the iphone for lack of multi-processing during the press conference that site linked above (geekworld) is just linking a bunch of rumors, look at the frigging picture they used.

I realise that, my friend, hence why I was talking about the handset rather than the OS. Nice try, but attempt to actually read my post before you try to correct it. Idiot.

I guess MS is not trying to capture the user friendly audience because they have a bad UI compared to nowadays UIs on other phones

Waits for someone to predict XBLA game support....

not saying is difficult but a bad competition in UI with other phones. Nowadays gramps are using iPhone - HTC. Are you expecting a gramp to know how to use this phone?

LMFAO you think a gramps uses an iphone? LMFAO a gramps uses a nokia 6600, theirs a reason that nokia's are still so highly rated, SMART PHONES, aren't for gramps... I'm sorry but if u can figure out an iphone you can figure out the Zune HD and therefore can figure out the Windows Phone 7...
My wife hates my iphone she hates the deluge of icons, tho she has a zune hd and navigates it fine.
The iphone has slowly become one of those pc's that you see with 1000 icons on the desktop, give me a break they had to add a search bar to the home screen because people get lost finding their apps.
And yes im an iphone user, and i do like it, but even i sit their for 30 seconds trying to find that damn youtube icon, or a random icon that i want to launch, and end up searching for it, once you get past 3-4 pages of icons its ridiculous, im happy to see microsoft trying to contextualize the interface and organize things.

Release this on the Zune HD. NOW!
Seriously, I'm dissapointed at MIcrosofts lack of software support for the Zune HD. If they really wanted to, they could make the Zune HD so much more integrated with the XBOX 360 and it might even become their portable gaming device.

Before I post this question I'd like to make it clear that I did read the article above, but did NOT read more into detail about this new smartphone OS.
Now that that's out of the way - what does "Xbox live integration" mean, and what does it get you? I don't really need to send messages across Xbox live from my phone, or check to see what my friends are playing. If you DO want this feature that's great, it's not a bad feature to have, it just doesn't interest me personally.
Did they say you will be able to play games purchased on Xbox Live on the phone? What other Xbox live features will this support?

No network announcement? God lets hope its not on AT&T. If it goes on Verizon along with the iPhone this year. SO many people are going to switch back and/or to Verizon
