Wouldn't you much rather have a FFVI remake with PS3 graphics and sound? Opera House in 7.1? Yes, please.

I remember playing a fan translation of Final Fantasy 5 in the late 90s, it was pretty rough and unfinished but my first experience at playing the game. I remember later on in the game, several NPC's dialouge text were replaced by something along the lines of "(Will finish later)".

I'd LOL if the same was in this game and you'd need DLC to unlock it. 1st thing that popped in my head. XD

The cut stuff may not be DLC, but will just come included in some sort of Special Extended Edition. Maybe? No? I thought Square was into milking these things over and over?

fix'd

and I'm by no means not a fan boy.Well over 50k points on 360 and love it, but damnit I waited to long to play a watered down multi console version of FF13 :(

the final fantasies on the ps2 were on one dvd and they were great, don't know why you think 3 DVD's would be a watered down version.

@ Brian: this is the new gen.

I agree with Jeff.

Btw, I would like to know what other game had enough content cut that could make another game.

Don't give me that "this is new gen" crap, 15gb games are freaking massive.

people cut content from games all the time.

3 dvd's is a crap ton worth of content, stop complaining.

u do realize that the newer gen game graphics, and audio take up more space but i agree with brian. A lot of games take away content before releasing it just because it either didnt go well with the story or whatever reason.

Why the hell are they talking about a video game like it is a movie?
We seem to be losing that extra step of content that in past Final Fantasies made them even more special. I just hope it doesn't take the edge away from this game

What the hell is everyones problem?

Do people not understand how stuff gets done in the world?

This also occured in the early days of video games. This is a universal thing. Otherwise games would be 300hrs long, movies would be 8hrs and albums would have 76 tracks.

It's called *editing*: Things get cut, you trim the fat and refine the experience. Jesus Christ.

No kidding embassy.

I wish people like Dangle could play through a game, or read a book that had nothing edited just so they can see what a tangled, messy grind it would be without it.

Like seriously, this makes me bang my head against a wall. I don't understand how people can be that stupid as to not understand this. Like what, do you people think that the process of making a game is to sit down at a computer and start typing out code from the beginning of the game chronologically through to the end, with no planning, no business analysts, no editing, no artists, etc?

When did game development become like a movie? Are you kidding? Game development is much more complex than a movie.

Dangle, what industry are you in? I'd like to know just so I can boil it down to some overly simplistic process that is absolutely nothing like what you've experienced it to be every day so you can feel our frustration.

Sadly, I still don't expect many of the fanboys to believe it.

So much content was made to fill the blu ray version. 360 was an afterthought long after development had been started, so naturally they had to redesign some things to make it work.

There's no doubt in my mind that that's why towns and shops are missing, and that you can only backtrack and explore the final 25% (from what I've heard) of the game.

Games cost a fortune to make nowadays, yet some people thing it was a natural cut for them to throw away another games worth of content?

Or, towns were cut because doing multiple towns with HD buildings, characters, etc. would be just too much work (even just on the PS3): http://playstation.joystiq.com/2010/02/05/final-fantasy-xiii-producers-traditional-rpg-towns-are-tough-to/

I agree with you on FF7... but I'm more excited to play thru a new FF right now than thinking about FF7 being remade. Super Metroid, OoT and ALttP? Dude those games are all perfect in pretty much every way, no need to be remade. And MGS1 was remade last generation... how many times does it need to be done?

Well, release or not the DLC, the damage its done.. we already getting a gimped game thanks to microsoft and square enix. And in the end it affected the game quality, graphics and gameplay.

PS3 owner got screw in the end... oh well if sales of FF XIII in xbox 360 dont expect versus to stay exclusive neither...

You can say what you want about Japanese developers needing to catch up, but Square just shit on a *lot* of developers with this comment. Quite frankly, there's a lot of companies who screw over consumer by repackaging and repolishing cut content at a premium price when the time spent on large parts of that content fit into the development time and budget that was paid for with your $60 purchase of the game.

In other words, props to Square Enix. Hopefully more companies can move towards something like this because the DLC market right now largely consists of overpriced, undervalued, low quality garbage. Repackaging cut content at a premium isn't helping that.
