Assassin's Creed 2 'Bonfire of the Vanities' DLC comes Feb. 18

The second of two promised Assassin's Creed 2 DLC add-ons is set to release on February 18 on Xbox Live and PSN, a recent Ubisoft press release reads. On top of a release date, Ubisoft has offered two new screens and some details on Bonfire of the Vanities (AKA Sequence 13), which will be comprised of ten memories following Ezio's attempt to aid Machiavelli in freeing Florence from the influence of one Savonarola. It's up to Ezio to target key citizens under Savonarola's control and attempt to win them over through diplomatic discourse, including meetings over tea and the occasional quilt party. Oh, wait -- sorry, we had that wrong. He kills them. All.

The chapters of the lost memory sequence take Ezio to several of Florence's well-known locales, such as the Palazzo Medici, Santa Maria dei Frari and -- wait, the Arsenal Shipyard? What, did you run out of awesome Italian names, Ubisoft?

Still not buying new Missions until I can replay the ones already on the disk.

Why can't you just put the disc back in and play them?

You can't replay specific missions. Story missions. Im not going to restart the whole game for a few scenes.

Yeah I had an incident where my profile wasn't saving achievements. Missed out on a chapter achievement. Would have to replay the game to get that. But the games worth a second run through to me. After Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, and a stack of other games I own.

I guess there wont be any trophys for this as there were none for the first DLC

That really made no sense to me. Why WOULDN'T they put trophies/achievements in? Even if it was only 125g for each addon.

If you base all DLC purchases solely on achievements then you have lost the meaning behind gaming.

I thought the meaning of gaming was to have as many 6-color gifs as possible.

@Spike The purpose of gaming is to have fun. If achievements add to the ammount of fun you have then so be it.

Did I say it didn't? I said "solely". Besides there is no reason for defense. My statement was a hypothetical one in general.

Is it just me but does it seem like both these DLCs should've been on the disk. I dunno about this one, but the first one only added like 1-2 hrs of additional gameplay and NO achievements.

That's the point, they're "Missing Sequences".

These were cut from the disc because of time constraints.

Both should have been initially on the disk, their excuse about timing constraints it's pretty lame.

I mean let's take for example Battle of Forli it hardly has new content and it took me less than 30 minutes to beat the sequence.

just because they took an hour to beat doesn't mean that they took an hour to make. They wanted to get this out the door for the holidays so they cut two short sequences, neither of which is too terribly important to the plot.

even if this only pushed back development 3 weeks that's a lot of time to not be on the shelves for the holidays

Well even that I'm against buying DLC, I really loved AC2 so yeah I'm going to buy this one too.

Yeesh, if anything I'll have to buy AC2 just for the recreation of Florence after having studied abroad in college there. Uffa, Savonarola, che cazzo fai!

which reminds me when I lived in auckalnd, NZ they had a restaurant called Pompino. haha.... it was started by and english man (a Pome) and a phillipino woman. I was a little disappointed with their service to say the least.

Assassin's Creed 2 felt like a weird mixture of Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, The Abyss, The 13th Warrior, Mars & other stories ..

Nice! I wasn't expecting this to come out this week. I recently started my second playthrough of the game after doing everything there is to do on my first file, so the more AC2, the better.

I dont care if this is cut from the game, I'm going to buy it because AC2 was well worth the £50 I paid for it even without these sequences.

Day 1!

The first DLC was way too short for the price they charged. I hope this one is not another rip off.

After playing the first DLC besides being too short, no trophies, can't replay it.....not good.

Anyone else waiting for the greatest/platinum hits version so you can get this for free?

er, I actually meant game of the year version, but the other also works.

I'll wait until both get packed into one nice little DLC for less than their combined individual prices. That way I can enjoy ~2 hours of more gameplay for

If these were removed from the game due to time constraints. Why wasn't the game cheaper or these given away for free. Call me a cynic but it seems that every game rips big chunks out and then sells it back to you in a nicely packaged DLC bundle.
