It's amazing that Atari's been around for as long as it has. Though Nintendo is the older company, it really didn't get it's start into videogames until after Atari ran things for a good while. I wonder if Phil Harrison is still there? It's good to know that the company's still around and kicking. Atari, how about coaxing Starbreeze into doing a sequel to the Chronicles of Riddick and the Darkness. I really don't like FPS's that much, but those two are hands-down my favorite.

CRUD!!!

Right when my comment came through, I remembered that Nintendo used to be a trading card company in the late 1800s!

I FAILED.

This 'Atari' is a rebranded Infogrames, though they have all rights to Atari's franchises and properties.

The original Atari's home division died in the mid-90s, after a "reverse merger" with a small hard drive manufacturer, JTS, that went under shortly afterward. This Atari's intellectual properties were bought up by Hasbro, and then they eventually ended up in Infogrames' hands. Infogrames renamed itself "Atari" a few years ago for the name recognition. As for the arcade division, known as Atari Games after the company got split, its final owner was Midway, and after a name change to "Midway Games West" (ironically, they found the Atari name recognition to be a problem, because it conjured "retro" rather than "cutting edge"), the division was shut down in 2003. Of course, years later, Midway itself followed Atari Games into the sunset.
