The best way to buy something on ebay is to wait until there are 5 seconds left and bid with your maximum bid.

This prevents you from being abused by the seller who has multiple accounts to run the price of an item up rather than putting in a reserve. This practice is quite common.

They could frontrun the bid themselves but I imagine if they keep relisting it and you catch them they will get banned.

Even 5 seconds is pushing it, I've been sniped after I made a bid in my 3 seconds. The guy that out-bid me, got over-bid literally a second later.

I'm not saying they wouldn't do that, but for AIAS to game the E*Bay system to raise more scholarship dollars....

Well I just hope they wouldn't.

Wow, what is this, 1999 all over again? Are you really giving decade old eBay advice on a story about charity auctions?

Specially considering there's software that bids for you, or better said, snipes for you.

"What is this, 1999?" Haha, good one.

Considering this just happened to me twice 5 days ago, I think the advice is still relevant.

Luckily I only bid .99 so when the seller tried to bid me up he stopped. Now he relisted both the items that had previously been "won", and this time I'm going win them at .99 cents in the last 5 secs.

This is pretty cool. I wish I had some money, I would buy some 'flower' art. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for missing both days of the discounted and free 'That Game Company's' games.

Guess I'll just go buy flower for a tenth of the price of the opening bids here. That's like getting a million pieces of art for a tenth of the price of one, if you count each frame anyway.

I wouldn't have minded if they had some other Halo art that was a bit more... Halo-ish I suppose. The one they have for Wars is nice, but I'd rather it be some ancient forerunner city or structure in the middle of a forest than just a random bridges.

I don't know... maybe it was just too covered or from a bad angle. It's like someone is hiding under a bridge looking out at the rest with half of their view obstructed. It's pretty, but I prefer the concept art for that one canceled Halo project that Ensemble was working on.
