I can wait a week for BFBC2. I just got a few good india games from XBLA (80pts each) and just got addicted to Mafia Wars on my Facebook (again). I think my cheap gaming habits will last me until next Tuesday.

$20 is right in line with the cost of the game anywhere else, even used. You can find it in the mid-teens sometimes if you're lucky.

I just have beef with Katamari. They hyped the game saying it was $30, making people think you're getting the entire game for $30. Then after purchase you find out that you need to spend another $30 on the marketplace to unlock the contents already on the disc. Ridiculous.

Getting back into PSN / XBLA, having just purchased Flower last week and getting ready to grab The Misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom this week.

In regards to the 'storm' that's coming, I'm going to have to wait to see what some other Joystiq'ers think. I was going to buy Heavy Rain right away, but I was blown away by how thoroughly disinterested I am after having played the demo. Hope the full game is more compelling gameplay wise than the demo.

By saying Joystiq'ers I meant other commenters. I read the review, found it to be rather glowing which doesn't match up to my impressions from demo. I read another review which I also found to be rather well-written which was on the opposite end of the spectrum. This is one of those games where I think average gamer response is going to be more reliable than industry reviewers.

I really want to buy it, but playing the demo I've become really worried about controls. When you messed up the demo it was just a slip in the mud or something, but im sure in the full game you might die once or twice. Ive only had my PS3 for about 3 months now, and the only time I ever used six axis was to turn valves in KZ2, so im pretty sure everytime there's a sixaxis motion required, a character is going to die

What I was blown away by the most in the demo were the animations. They were so sub-par it was ridiculous. On top of that I kept seeing lots of glitches, like the girl in the first seen being on one side of the room in one frame and on the other the next. Or that she lit her cigarette, and then it was gone. It was a really jarring experience from a game that I expected to be immersive and realistic.

The controls weren't the best, especially walking around, but I thought the QTE action sequences were done REALLY well. Though I was dissapointed to find that in the fight if you hit every button right on que, or just put the controller down and let your character get the shit kicked out of them, the end result is the same. It gives you the illusion of choice and interaction when you are really in no danger and your actions really have no weight. I'm sure not every scene in the game is like this, but it's still pretty irksome.

@caramelzappa, lol yes i just down voted you!

After reading your comment yesterday i thought, heck, i've played throught he demo and didn't notice any of this, now if this is true then that could be a deal breaker. So last night i gave it another shot, i got to the fight scene and put the controls down, and did nothing, sure you get the shit kicked out of you, but please tell me how the outcome is the same? The other guy leaves elizabeth's apartment, and then so do you, you get no further questioning of elizabeth! If you fight and win you get an awful lot more information out of elizabeth. So please tell me what you were dissapointed with here? Are you dissapointed that you got into a fight and the other guy didn't decide to kill you? Not everyone in the world is a murderer, the vast majority of us if we win a fight are not going to continue until the other person is dead? maybe you would but heck i see no bad issue with how the game works out if you don't fight!

I didn't bother checking the cigaret part cause after seeing how daft your point abotut he fight scene was i decided you probably just didn't walk around the room and see if she still had her cigaret!

As for your issues with the cut scenes, lol, they are an awful lot batter than many games out there, now no game is going to be perfect, but lets compare them to assasins creed II's cut scenes, where the lip synch goes out quite frequently, the characters are as wooden as a plank, and the little movement of arms in the conversations is totally out with the voicing, are yous eriously telling me that you think heavy rain is worse than that? actually, maybe you could provide me with a name of a game where the situation is better than heavy rain! nah doubt you can.

From my point of view, no heavy rain is not perfect, but my mate summed it up, he has always been an xbox fanboy, and he said it is the one stand out game on the ps3, it is the only game he has seen on the ps3 which would actually make him buy one!

I was going to pick up AvP, but the reviews I've read have all mentioned flaws that would kill it for me. The lackluster demo didn't help, either. Buddy of mine finally got his 360 back after getting the RROD, so I'll probably nab a copy of ODST tonight. I'm a sucker for anything with co-op.

My current backlog:
Bioshock 2
Bayonetta
The Darkness
DJ Hero (I haven't even started playing on Hard)
Shadowrun (still haven't opened it)
Renegade playthrough of Mass Effect 2

On top of all that, I keep telling myself I'll play some Versus in Left 4 Dead 2. I bought it day one, and feel like I've barely dipped my toes in it.

I was inspired to run through the backlog of games sitting on my shelf by your post. Keep in mind these are games that I haven't even started:

Demon's Souls
Ratchet and Clank (The New one)
HALO ODST
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
Bioshock 2
Aliens Vs. Predator
Conan
Soul Calibur IV
Infinite Undiscovery
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Gears of War 2

Games in Progress:
Red Faction: Rebellion (Just did a couple missions)
Borderlands (Think I'm like level 16, don't know how far into this that makes me)
Assassin's Creed ][ (In Venice, this will be my next completed I think)
Metal Gear IV (Think the guy just crapped his pants, not sure)
Little Big Planet (I found I I actually hadn't finished this game and went back to it)

Recently Finished:

Dark Void (Hey I actually enjoyed this game, maybe the PC control scheme made it better?)

As you can see that's quite a backlog, I've stopped buying anything except for PC games that I ordered in advance through amazon.

That's quite a list. If you need someone to play through Ratchet & Clank for you, let me know. I'll gladly take care of it. R&C is my favorite franchise, and not having a PS3 to play Crack in Time is killing me.

Most of mine are games that I've started playing, but have shelved in favor of newer games. It's not that I'm not enjoying them, I just have gaming ADD lately. Bayonetta, Mass Effect 2, and Bioshock 2 are all GOTY material for me, but I have a hard time sticking with one game until I finish it. My mood changes a lot.

I forgot to add 'Splosion Man to my list. I love it, but I can't play for more than 45 minutes without getting frustrated and stopping.

Yeah, I'm digging it. Definitely worth the $8 it cost me. I knew Captain Midnight by Tomahawk was somewhere in the game, but was unaware that Mike Patton voiced The Darkness. I'm a big fan (even though he's kind of an asshole), so it was a nice surprise.

I'm really excited about Shadowrun. From what I hear, the community is small and made up of generally nice folks. My biggest deterrent from playing competitive shooters is the large number of cockwranglers who think games are serious business, so hopefully an older, more nontraditional FPS will be more laid back.

My favorite part of The Darkness were the TVs. The different channels had programs, including the first episode of the original Flash Gordon serial. I felt stupid after I realized it, but I had had my character plop down in front of the TV and watch Flash Gordon. I was a guy, watching a tv, controlling a guy who was watching a TV because it had Flash Gordon.

Back log is Assassins Creed 2, GTA4 dlc, Borderlands, Bayonetta & Star Ocean 4.. and may as well say Tiger Woods 09 since I lost my save..
Back Burner for Forza 3 (at level 35), Virtua Fighter 5

Working on Mass Effect 2 on Insanity with a Vanguard.. which is tough, lowest health of all the classes, then there's babysitting the dumb team AI which don't know the meaning of low health
Army of Two, doing all the stuff I can without a co-op buddy (til he picks it up),
Fallout 3 GOTY, about to do Anchorage, then there's just Broken Steel, hacking, speech, weopon & lv30 chieves
