Sony should just stick with PlayStation Motion Controller.

They should also ditch the whole wands-with-balls thing, but who knows what thing will look like in its final form?

@Marty

I thought it HAD to had the balls, doesn't it? since that's what makes the tracking possible. or not?

The balls are necessary, since the system uses color tracking. Also, I'm pretty sre the latest version is the final one.

It could be called "Arc: The Playstation Motion Controller" .. I expect more details on Infamous 2, The Last Guardian, Rockstar Agent, & a pocketful of sunshine ..

They're not going to demo PS4 anytime soon. The PS3 is only finally starting to get near profitability, and they are probably going to try to extend the life of the system with the motion controller in lieu of putting out a whole new system.

Not to mention this is GDC, not E3. It's not a good venue for announcing a new console.

They probably haven't decided what processor the PS4 will use. It could be a 40nm CELL, or not.

Just my opinion but for some reason ,i don't like the whole on-live concept. looks like a big failure .

I think we all have our doubts about that. In that university demo they claimed that the video feeds were live from people playing, but the baseball videos were obviously on repeat

It's not a feasible idea yet. Networks need to be completely overhauled to supply enough bandwidth for a hi-def live stream to be piped into your house while also piping out your controller input fast enough to make it seem like you're not playing on a remote machine.

Also can you imagine how many computers it would take to run on-live if it was popular? This isn't like servers where it just runs various data through, they've got to run all the entire game including graphics and transmit all of it to the players. I wonder how many many people a supercomputer could support playing a modern game on medium graphics, not that they will have supercomputers. It seems like it would be easier for them to just buy their customers new graphics cards and forget the ridiculously wasteful "cloud computing" attempt.

I really hope OnLive works. It's 2010 and I have spent the last 15 years of my life building newer and beefier hardware configurations to keep up with PC gaming. Fact is I have a family now and dropping a few hundred bucks every year isn't an option for me anymore. I am more than ready to give up the chase and move to a hardware and OS independent solution (other than a console that is).

I am hoping for OnLive's success as a compliment to regular PC gaming. If it completely replaces our physical rigs, then I'll be pissed. I hope OnLive will bring a wider audience to PC gaming and thus more attention and love from the industry.

No need to worry, OnLive has already been shown to be a complete waste of time.

People still care about OnLive?

I thought that it's already been proven that the concept is pretty much impossible with today's netwrok technology.

Well.
We have the Wii and the Natal so far; the Sony name has to be something really stupid or marginally offensive. Then again they seemed to have taken my advice and executed their previous marketing team (at least the morons who came up with creepy babies and I want a psp for xmas), so who knows.

What I want to learn more about is Onlive. I hope it’s not stupidly expensive, it looks like a good alternative to an expensive PC and the crappy consoles we’ve gotten this gen. Of course it will also in the end probably be overpriced and as lackluster as any of the consoles.
