We frequently tried to find ways to keep ourselves occupied during the days we spent probing planets for precious, precious minerals in Mass Effect 2, but largely came up empty-handed. You can only scan Uranus so many times before it loses its comedic value, you know? If only we'd followed the cue of YouTube rap sensation Kabuto the Python, who spent his mining moments crafting rhymes and beats, then combining the two into a single package which we feel comfortable calling a rap song. Check the NSFW track after the jump.

Never able to get enough platinum. You'd think it'd be more common than Element Zero but noooooo . . .

Actually, I had the opposite. I could never find any element zero but I had all the other element sin abundance (like 30k)

When? The 1980s?
When? The 1980s?

They didn't throw in EDI saying " Seriously, Shepard?" I've only heard that once. Not sure why. Maybe my probe missed its target.

she only ever says that when you send a probe to Uranus.

Oh I see. I guess I won't have to investigate this probing into Uranus anymore now that you're here to tell me.
I mean even though I've probed the shit out of Uranus and I've depleted it I guess I could go back for one more round, but that would just be a waste. It's all just scar tissue now. Too much probing.

Use plenty of KY for all Uranus probing needs.

I have to agree.
I loved ME1 and the pacing and mechanics of ME2 really turn me off. Gun play/combat is poorly done (ammo is a HUGE issue) and the exploration mechanics are a big step back from ME1. I didn't mind exploring in the MAKO at all. That was FAR more interesting than this planet scanning garbage.
I may finish it, I may not. I should not have to force myself to play. Bummer.

You can defend it because not liking those gameplay changes is entirely subjective, and most people seem to perfer the sequel over the first one. You're just looking for things to complain about, and ignoring all the positive changes. The technical improvements alone make ME2 a way better game. I'd loathe to play ME1 now with the crappy framerate, the painful battle mechanics, and less interesting environments.

I recently edited my PC version so F2 gives me minerals. No more wasted time.

Am I the only one here who actually finds the scanning minigame fun? ...maybe fun is not the right word here... It provides a very good contrast to the action-oriented missions and honestly, I just love listening to the sounds generated by the spectrometer.

Scanning for minerals sucks. Period. Seriously Bioware...I hate you guys for putting such an obvious time filler into an otherwise great game. The fact that you even have to buy a ship upgrade to speed up the scanning is ridiculous. It still takes a good 10-15 minutes to deplete a planet.
They say your whole life flashes before your eyes when you die. It sickens me to know that 1/3 of that flash is going to be swirling planets and "Launching Probe" echoing in my mind.
Nice song.
