Eight members of the EA Tiburon development staff acted as emissaries for the Orlando, Fla. based developer when they visited the city's Florida Hospital for Children recently, bearing gifts of games and what must have been a nice diversion from the "man, being in the hospital sucks" blues. Madden development director Chad Merriam and associate art director Tony Stanley were among those who stopped by with a pack of 30 new games for the hospital's library, including Madden NFL 10, Boom Blox and Rock Band.
The crew also visited with the kids, explaining the basics of game development and giving them ProTips on the games. The Orlando Sentinel has a full account of the visit, which, we have to say is a welcome change from news of layoffs, financial woes and studios going belly-up. Our hats are off to you, Tiburon -- nicely done.

It's nice to know that they can give back to the world that they have taken over so much of.
Seriously though, cheers to EA. This is some welcome news :)

It's great to see publishers like EA helping out their fellow human, unlike some OTHER ones I know...

I remember being hospitalised and put in isolation as a young child (apparently a concoction of strong steroids, and chicken pox doesn't bode well)..
The hospital staff gave me a television so that my parents could bring in a NES and have me play duck hunt. It is here that made me the gamer I am today..
It is this which allows me to underatand that this is an excellent donation..

I don't care why they did this, I'm just glad they did.

pretty cool to read.. probably made the day for those kids.
If this is all their is to the story then.. to do so seemingly without an agenda behind it is pretty awesome also.

According to TFA, this is the second year that EA Tiburon has done this. If there was something really nasty going on, I'm sure we'd've heard of it.

It'd be funny if EA's Dante's Inferno dev team went to these children's hospitals, with the "GO TO HELL" tag line and all.
I kid, I kid.

"Oh... 30 new games for our library? How... Nice of you. Go ahead and put them over there... Yes, next to the pile of 15 consoles and 200 games 3 guys from a non-profit in Seattle sent us this year. I know they're still packaged up, we're trying to make it through the bundle they sent last year."
Total token (...and laughably so) PR stunt. EAs profit for the quarter was many orders of magnitude more than what Child's Play brought in this year, but all they can provide is 30 of their games they got at cost.
They're still evil beyond imagining. They still run their employees on the redline 'till they break down. They still kill great franchises by churning out weak dilutions until interest is stomped into the ground.
...and they still destroyed Origin Systems.

Damn man.... I'm glad I'm not as cynical as you. I see a story like this, and I'm just glad for the kids.
